Rented the cabin for wedding preparation a few minutesw away and for out of town guests. The location was beautiful and Shawn left a gift basket of goodies and wine! It was perfect and we are very grateful!

The house was absolutely amazing. Communication was great! I love the house. You can definitely tell that the owners use it. It’s the best Vrbo. I think I’ve ever stayed at because it felt like Home! I forgot to bring cooking oil, I love the fact that there was some readily available. I did replace it with a full bottle! But the convenience was amazing!

We had a great time at this gorgeous house and location. The lake was incredibly peaceful and we spent hours sitting on the covered deck. There’s enough room for a large group to be able to spread out. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had. We highly recommend the house!

Nice property | Beautiful Setting

We stayed here as a team for a work outing and the property easily accommodated our team. We spent most of our time enjoying the open spaces and the generous wrap around porch. This property is definitely worth a look for larger groups.

Great Stay

This property is better than described. Was a fantastic place for relaxing with family and friends. Great for adults and for children. We went to a few places with the kids during the days we stayed and they couldn’t wait to get back. Outdoor and indoor spaces were great!

Great Family Experience at Barren River Lake House

Wonderful home for a family gathering... especially if you love to fish

We stayed here for my father's 78th birthday with a goal is some wholesome family fun and an easy way for my aging parents to fish, an activity they love. Beyond the helpful communication from the owner, the home offered ease and peace and served as an ideal retreat. It also met the high cleanliness standards of my mother which is hard to do! We hope to return again.

2023 Family Vacation

Beautiful home!! Very cozy and comfortable for the 12 of us. Close to attractions we wanted to visit. Owner was very responsive and pleasant to work with. Would definitely recommend and would rent again if ever planning to be in the area.

Great family time!

We had a wonderful experience as a family staying at this house. We had age ranges from 2 months to grandparents. Everyone had something to do and had a great time spending time with family. Would highly recommend!

Family vacation

The property was well maintained and appeared as represented in the listing. The decks are fantastic. It would have been nice if there were lounge chairs in addition to the adorandeck chairs. The owner was very responsive to our questions.

Family Celebration

The property is one in a million! Off the beaten path overlooking the lake, we couldn't get over how beautiful it was. We were gathering as a family for our parent's 50th wedding anniversary with ages ranging between 3-72. The house had everything you could need. Everyone enjoyed the great room off the kitchen, and the downstairs game level was a hit. We all enjoyed walking the different trails on property, even had a waterfall the kids loved. It was an easy drive to near by marinas and local restaurants. The owner was easy to communicate with at all times. We would stay here again in a heart beat!

CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES

We are a growing family with pets and our home does not accommodate everyone very well at Christmas time. We rented this lake home and it was amazing! There was plenty of room and a separate area the teens and younger children enjoyed - away from the adults. We played cards, ate, watched movies and football games, ate, walked down to the lake, ate and loved our family time with those close and those far away. Everything we needed was provided. We had great conversatons about "Eddie".... you'll have to book to get our meaning! Shawn was very responsive when we had a question, which meant a lot! 5 Stars from our family!

Relaxing beyond measure

We recently had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful Barren River Lake home. The home in and of itself is spectacular. The inside decor is beautiful. Functionally it is designed so that everyone can be together but also has many spots to retreat should you need a little alone time. (As a side note, the stand up urinal was a fascination to all the boys and a bonus to the ladies who enjoyed not worrying about whether or not the seat was lifted!) Everything you could ever want was in the house to cook, wash the lake swim suits or simply enjoy a glass of wine which was left for us by the owners. We also enjoyed some family pool and ping pong games in the lower level. Moving outside is really what sells this house. Rain or shine you could sit out on the deck to enjoy the scenery. There was ample outdoor seating, a great grill and an outdoor fan provided a nice breeze should you catch a hot KY summer day. The trail to the lake was awesome and easy to maneuver. The dock was the place to be for fishing, swimming or hopping on the little paddle boat. All ages enjoyed the cove with the many fish, turtles and the heron who seemed to follow us wherever we went. My son claims to have seen a little otter which grew larger as the tale was told multiple times. This area of the lake is perfect as it seems to get less boat traffic and yet if you rent/have a boat of your own, is a great place to dock or head out for some lake fun. Overall, this HomeAway location is awesome and relaxing beyond measure. Being KY natives we did not go to the Corvette Museum or Mammoth Cave but both are worth the time and a stones throw away. Hope to be back soon......

Delightful Family Holiday Retreat

This beautiful isolated property on Lake Barren River was perfect for our family retreat. The house is spacious, well equipped, and clean. The property manager was attentive and very responsive to our needs. There is ample space for walking and outdoor activities weather permitting. During the winter the lake is non-existent per water activities, but the creek flowing into the lake provided opportunities for exploration and discovery. The nearest restaurants are six miles away (not a bad drive), but the kitchen is well equipped for cooking all meals. There is a grill available if desired. Outside heating unit is also available. We chose not to use either. The retreat house met our family needs and provided us space to recreate inside and out.

Summer Getaway

The house is located on a quiet part of the lake. It was perfect for canoeing, swimming, paddle boarding, swimming and fishing. The porch was were we hung out most of the time to relax, play games and eat. Communication with the owner was no issue. Very responsive. We would definitely stay here again if retuning to the Barren River Lake area for a vacation.

Peaceful Retreat

The perfect landing place

We came to Glasgow on a special mission. We live in California. Our daughter was born via surrogate at TJ Sampson hospital and we needed a home to stay a couple days and get to know each other after bringing her home from the hospital and before flying home. Shawn’s home was perfect. He was so accommodating! I have an allergy to detergent with fragrance and he made sure there was allergy friendly detergent on site. He didn’t have a pack and play so he encouraged us to buy one and leave it at the house - and he reimbursed us right away. We felt taken care of. We are so thankful to have stayed at this beautiful home during such a special time in our family history. We loved sitting out on the deck together. It was just perfect. Thank you!
