About this property

On Hutchinson Island. Large upstairs suite, private pool, beach is minutes away.

The Mermaid House is located on the northern tip of South Hutchison Island and is 7 minute walk to the beach.

Your suite has a great swing where you can relax and listen to the ocean sing. During a full moon the swing is in a perfect position and elevation to watch the moon come out of the ocean!! This unique styled property has a large, private, saltwater pool with a jacuzzi. When you are done swimming our tiki hut, with its own bar area, is next to the pool and a great place to eat, talk and enjoy a cocktail or two.

The Mermaid House has a very comfy king bed, a fully equipped kitchen, WiFi, TV, beach chairs, pool toys, and a barbecues grill just to mention a few. Please see complete list of our amenities and encourage you to review our reviews.

What's nearby: The northern tip of South Hutchison Island is where the Indian River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Therefore you have the choice of fishing or swimming from the shores of the Indian River, which has it own white sand beach, or dropping your fishing line into the Atlantic Ocean. Literally, you can have one fishing line in the Indian River and 8 feet away your other fishing line is in the Atlantic Ocean. Needless to say we have great fishing and outstanding seafood.

Speaking of food, we are known for our boutique restaurants ranging from Latin, French, Fusion, Asian, Seafood to Food Trucks offering mouth watering barbecue to Creole delights. We have several boutique taverns, where you can enjoy a happy hour with gourmet bites while listening to live music and of course great water views.

Within a 4 mile radius we have fishing charters available, jet ski rentals, small sailing boat rentals and lessons are also available. Currently there is a free Uber service offered by City of Fort Pierce and the Mermaid House is in their area of service. In your suite you will find additional information covering the topics above.

If you are a walker this is the place. You can walk either along the beach or the main strip where many of us like to walk in the morning or evening hours. If you choose the main strip you will pass , the Florida Oceanic Museum, the St Lucie County Aquarium, the National Navy Seals Museum, the Smithsonian Marine Station on the Island, The Indian River beach park and a causeway overpass bridge that offers an excellent view of the Indian River.

Host was very welcoming. House was roomy and overall clean. I would highly recommend leaving the guests some bottles of water and maybe some granola bars as an added perk. I’ve seen it at many places and after a long day of travel it really helps! Location was close to all restaurants and the beach. Hope to be back next year

Kevin was very helpful. Provided folding tables for our use. He is convenient if there is any problems - - lives below the apt. The location is great - walking distance to the beach and Jaycee Park (pickleball), each about 5 minutes. Private pool is nice, although a little cold for Feb. We did use the pool deck to avoid the winds on the beach several times.

Great Stay

The description was exactly what it is. There is a little road noise, but at night you could hear the ocean. The house is spacious, clean, and is a great deal. The location is just about a five to ten minute walk from places to eat Beaches are beautiful and quiet. This is not a touristy place. There is plenty to do all around Ft. Pierce, and this house is ideal to stay in and use it as a hub. Definitely a great place to stay right off the beach.

Excellent choice for Hutchinson Island! Pool and outdoor area was perfect. Very short walk to the beach. House was clean and comfortable. Restaurants and jetty within a few minutes drive.

Loved this property! This was our first experience with a non hotel property and we were blown away! Communication was amazing. Host was helpful and attentive to our stay. Property was very clean and spacious. Did not use the pool as we are ocean lovers but the beach. Is literally across the street! Loved the beach chairs that.were provided. We give it a 10 and will book again without hesitation. Thank you for a great week!

The best beach area

This property was exactly as pictured on Vrbo and was fabulous.communication was very good, no problems. Wish we would have had a beach umbrella but in all a wonderful location and property.
