About this property
Cozy Cabin Retreat
Find peace, quiet, solitude - and high-speed internet - at this cabin nestled into Vermont's central hills. The cozy, wood cabin overlooks a small stream and beautiful, rolling meadows. Inside, you'll find a studio cottage with a queen-sized bed in a sleeping alcove adjacent to the living room, a full kitchen (oven, range, fridge, sink and dining table) with basic utensils, pots, pans and dishes, and a full bathroom (shower, sink, toilet).
The cabin is heated by a gas stove - providing the cozy ambiance of a woodstove with the luxury of a thermostat control! A record player is enabled with bluetooth to play your favorite playlists. High-speed internet allows you to check on emails, make WiFi-enabled calls, or stream shows. A wall of south-facing windows provides the perfect place to watch snow fall over the adjacent stream.
Note: If you're looking forward to curling up and watching movies, BYO device for watching shows or movies, as the cabin does not have a TV. While we do have great internet, we recommend downloading favorite playlists or movies before you arrive, just in case.
Outside, numerous sustainability measures are helping to reduce the footprint of the farm. Two large solar arrays offset the electricity usage of all five buildings. A large greenhouse extends the growing season and allows us to offer local produce and flowers for sale. Our flock of chickens consumes much of our food scraps and provides sustainable fertilizer for the gardens, as well as year-round eggs. And our free range children keep life exciting and will be enthusiastic about showing you their latest snow forts, mountain bike trails, sledding runs or dams in the stream. Coming next: lambs and Indian runner ducks!
Bring your boots, snowshoes, skis, or sleds to explore the 26 acres on rustic logging paths and surrounding dirt roads. We are close to Montpelier, Northfield, Norwich University, the Mad River Valley, and Randolph. Come for foliage, skiing, mountain biking, or relaxing. (45 minutes to Sugarbush base lodge, 1 hour to Stowe and Killington.)
Travel tip: Snow tires and/or AWD are strongly recommended for winter or spring travel anywhere in Vermont. Weather conditions can change fast here and it can take hours before road crews have time to plow and sand all the hundreds of miles of roads in each town.

About the host
Hosted by Hannah Bryant

Born and raised in Vermont, I currently work as a landscape designer and a city planner. I love shaping places for people, improving daily lives through thoughtful design, and considering the opportunities for places to enhance relationships and community.
I am also the mother of two inspiring kiddos - ages 8 and 11 - who keep me on my toes and give me hope for our world's future. Together we bike, hike, camp, ski, make art, cook delicious meals, garden, and dream.

Why they chose this property
Wildwood Farm is a very special place - nestled into a rural valley, this farm checked all our boxes: a swimming pond, streams for playing and building in, a fantastic sledding hill, a greenhouse for growing all our favorite veggies, meadows and forests to explore and build trails through and three houses (our family's farmhouse plus two rental cottages) so we can share the land and its beauty with others.
What makes this property unique
The cottage is charming and private without being remote. Located just off a well-maintained dirt road and an easily navigable driveway, it overlooks a stream and southern meadow. You'll be greeted by a black lab and a posse of overly friendly chickens. Watch the hummingbirds zip back and forth as you drink your coffee on the back deck. Admire the snowy meadows illuminated by the light of the moon. Explore the trails throughout the forest - or forge your own!
It has an attached garage (no need to clear snow from your car!) for safe, dry storage of all your gear. From within, you'll hear the stream below your window but no traffic sounds. Step outside at night to see the breathtaking stars and Milky Way; our location is one of the darkest areas in the east.
