Aix is a tourist zone/pricey. This was a good value, potentially excellent place made less valuable starting with lack of communication from the host (VRBO, SMS, WhatsApp?) - first communication at 4:05 pm for 4:00 pm check-in, followed by the treasure hunt for the keys, eclipsed by the leftover food in the fridge and the broken drawers on the only dresser, among other minor things. Communication to the host was responded back to us with "???"
Would I stay here again?
Extremely Unlikely
Pros
Value for location
Cute space to relax for two
Heart of old town Aix kitty corner to one of the best squares with a produce market by day and restaurants by night
Cons
Extremely poor communication from host - host left random messages (maybe it was a language translation issue) however "did not understand" our messages
Mystery treasure hunt to find keys - sent a series of five pictures, no instructions, to go on a treasure hunt to find a lock box three streets away hanging on random window bars.
No dish soap and the cleaning up supplies are dated/dirty in need of replacing
Leftover food in fridge on arrival
Towels wet on arrival
Dresser drawer shelves are damaged and easily come off rails - had to fix twice and honestly unusable
Noisy
Very short bathroom/loft. Bathroom is under 6' - banged my head - showerhead is 5'8", bedroom loft is 3'6". guardrails are not really safe, steep stairs.
This is a bachelor pad that needs a little work to be made a proper tourist accommodation.
