Our downtown is basically one block so it is very easy to walk around to all the shops, visit the riverfront and levee walk, check out the Colter Memorial, watch the boats on the river while enjoying a bonfire or watch the trains go by! You can walk uptown too, but it is all uphill from downtown, but then it is all downhill to come back to your suite!!!
Free parking is located in front of the building on the street.
Interaction is up to the guests, as well as both of our schedules. Your check in is completely independent. We will respect your privacy or we will join you for a beer or conversation in passing! We are only a text or phone call away.
Our neighborhood is unique. We are located between the RR Tracks and the Missouri River. We have trains that pass by frequently, while blowing their horn, and barges that pass by occasionally. Downtown we have shops, a deli, movie theater, glass blower, distillery, and Mexican restaurant. We have wonderful people and noisy trains! We have it all! We are nestled between Hermann and Washington, and are a quick drive to Augusta and Rosebud, so you can partake in their festivities but come home to relaxing New Haven! As one guest shared, we are just a skip away from the madness of the festivities and close enough to partake!
*We are open to arranging pick up and drop off if you are traveling by Amtrak or biking the Katy Trail. Just let us know in advance and we will do our best to help out. We do charge a fee for this service. *You will need a rental car if coming from the airport. *There is free parking in front of our building on the street. *There are a couple of Lyft/Uber drivers available in the area.
We are directly across the street from the train tracks. The trains come through 24 hrs/day and they blow their horns every time they come through.
And we provide ear plugs for sleeping if you are in need! No Smoking! Respect our space and the amenities provided for your comfort! Enjoy your stay!

Wonderful location, host, and amenities. This was the perfect stay for a weekend away. We enjoyed the downtown shops and walking along the river. The kitchen had everything, and the shower was fantastic. Learning about the history of the suite and appreciation for restoring its beauty was appreciated. Highly recommend and would stay here again or any of their other properties.
This property was very clean and a wonderful weekend respite for my husband and I. The bed was comfortable, the shower was excellent, and the living area was cozy. We enjoyed the nearby shops and the short drives to Washington and Marthasville. Laura was great with instructions and communication. We would stay here again!
I highly recommend staying at the Shaman Suite. Very comfortable apartment in a great location of New Haven with easy access to surrounding towns and vineyards. We had the pleasure of meeting Laura the Host who was very warm and welcoming.

Thank you Robert! So glad you had a great weekend! We look forward to hosting you again! Laura
loved the quaint and charming vibe of the place. The owners provide ear plugs to block out the sound of the trains which adds to the charm of the area. Highly recommend using them. Slept like a baby afterwards.:) Very close to Hermann and recommend going to Redbud as well. A number of unique boutiques/shops to explore there as well. Be sure to stop at Clancys bakery. You wont be disappointed.

Enjoyed our stay in this old building. Rooms are clean and comfortable with plenty of living space. It had everything we needed for our stay. Building is located in an old part of New Haven along the river that seems to be experiencing a rejuvenation. The streets in this area are being completely redone, so it is a messy but they should be done soon. Walk to a distillery, brewery or wine bar. It is also just steps from a glass blowing workshop and next door to old operational movie theater. Train tracks are close and trains run regularly as stated in description.

About the host
Hosted by Laura Kohnen
Hi! We are Laura & Mark and we own Zia, New Haven! We love to travel and therefore we love to host other travelers! We have been hosting in New Haven for 10 years! We have loved every minute of it and our guests have loved it also! We created Zia and the suites so that we could provide comfortable, clean, relaxing accommodations that we ourselves would love to stay in! We are grateful that you have chosen the Shaman Suite and we pray you have a lovely stay and discover the Zia Life!
We first bought the building in 2009 and after extensive renovations, but keeping the historic details & charm, we opened the guest suites in 2012. We love the building with its beautiful pocket doors, warm mouldings and soothing ambiance. We are sure you will love it too!
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this building because we love historic buildings! We love this building's wood trim, mouldings, pocket doors, large windows, ambiance, and it's story! We love all the people who have come in and told us stories about being in the building years ago to see Doc Held or shop in Krull's Department Store downstairs. We love the history! If you love historical buildings full of charm, character, and rich history, you will love Zia, New Haven!
What makes this property unique
It is close to everything but away from the chaos! We are 18 minutes from Hermann and Washington, but in a quiet getaway. We are surrounded by shops and sweet places to visit, but it gets quiet at night. We have a distillery (and soon a brewery and wine garden) within walking distance! We have trains and barges and all the nostalgia that goes with them. We have it all! It is a friendly town with so much charm and character! It is a well kept secret that we hope you get to experience!
