Great place to stay. Sarah checked to make sure we had everything we needed. The location was great to get any where you needed to go but far enough away from the crowds. The cabin had everything you needed. We will stay there again.
The hosts are fabulous, the farm animals just the right bit of entertaining. would definitely stay there again and highly recommend. Location is perfect.
This place was perfect to finish our motorcycle enduro trip to the black hills! Sarah the owner was great and the cabin was perfect for the final days of our trip!

Thank you so much Breanne! We loved hosting you guys, come back anytime!!
Beautiful cabin setting in the Black Hills. Ideal location allowed us to experience many of area attractions - scenic drives, hikes, Mt. Rushmore, etc. The property owners, Sarah and Al, were very warm and welcoming, quickly responded to questions and offered many great sight seeing suggestions. Would enjoy visiting again.

Thank you Dan! We enjoyed meeting you and your family, hope you made lots of fun memories :)
The cabin worked pretty well for what we needed. My 19 year old son and I were hunting in the area and just needed a place to sleep. The loft that he slept in would work great for small children but has a pretty low ceiling. The cabin was very clean and cozy. This place is very family friendly! Perfect for a couple with small kids.
We loved our stay! We picked the property due to the mention of the farm animals! Our 3 year old was excited about everything at the cabin. Loft stairs were a bit of a challenge with her age and curious personality but she did just fine. We’d stay here again!
We stayed for our Deadwood and Devil’s Tower leg of our trip and it was perfectly located. Easy to find and clean and quiet. We would definitely stay here again. Our only regret is that we didn’t have time to cook the fresh eggs they left for us.
sara was a perfect hostess. We very much enjoyed the fresh eggs she gave us. The cabin was perfect
The property is centrally located to most Black Hills activities. The central firepit and picnic table was very nice. We enjoyed the front porch views. The animals were fun to see. The cabin was nicely furnished with everything necessary to make a meal.

Thank you Lynne! We hope you enjoyed your time in the Black Hills and were able to see all the sites you came to see! Al & Sarah
The cabin was great and property was awesome our kids enjoyed all of the animals and the hosts were great and were available anytime we needed them. Thank you for everything!
These super cute cabins are very clean. The owners are very friendly and have thought of all the little things to make this a great little home away from home. The bathroom is large and there are plenty of mirrors and plug-ins in the cabin for multiple people to get ready in the mornings. The little porch in front is perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and scenery. They have cute little animals running around for some entertainment. Highly recommended! I look forward to staying there again!

We LOVED our stay at Campfire Cabins! It was very centrally located to all that we wanted to do in the area. The hosts have definitely approached their property from the view of a traveler and have so many helpful things supplied in the cabins - from toothbrushes to bug spray, ranch dressing to syrup, box fan to ziploc bags. What I loved the most were the unique opportunities their property offered. Instead of flipping channels and getting annoyed at how long it took someone to finish in the bathroom; we could pass that time petting goats, chasing bunnies, playing corn hole, enjoying a campfire or star gazing! We tend to pack our days with activities and attractions and this was a great place to unwind and rest after our full days.
A friend and his son met my husband, son and me in Rapid City for Hills Alive weekend in July. the cabins are located 30 minutes from the park where Hills Alive was located. Easy to find and perfect for what we needed. My husband and I took the main floor bed, and the other guys took the loft. We met Al as we were checking our; very nice and friendly. Only negative - due to the low ceiling in the loft area the 2 queen beds are on the floor (no box springs). Our friend's comment was "It's fine to do this, but better mattresses are needed."
We would definitely stay here again. Thank you!!

Hope you had a great time at Hills Alive! Hope there were no more flat tires on your way home ;) Thanks again for choosing to stay with us!! Sarah
Stayed for 4 nights in this beautifully kept cabin nestled in the Black Hills. My adult daughter and I had a mother/daughter trip and the cabin was perfect for us, it was very clean, had amenities above and beyond what was expected, and felt very safe. We were central to all the Black Hills has to offer and we even when into Wyoming for one of the days. Sarah and Albert were wonderful hosts that were very helpful and also went out of there way to make our stay pleasant. This cabin is combined with their property in which they have a little farm with chickens, turkeys, bunnies, cats, cows that we walked to visit each morning while we drank our coffee. We also rented one of their UTVs for the day which was a lot of fun off-roading in the Black Hills. If we are ever in the area again we wouldn't want to stay at any other place. Thank you Sarah and Albert for your hospitality!

Thank you, Stacy, for staying with us! Its awesome that you and your daughter take vacations together - you rock! It was nice to visit with you guys & we are so glad you had fun trail riding!! Have a wonderful rest of your summer :)
We loved staying here! Everything was very clean and we liked the overall style/decor/quality of the cabin. Had everything you might need with some thoughtful extras like snacks & bathroom toiletries. Good selection of dvd’s & books. Our family really enjoyed reading “Little House on the Prairie”. We enjoyed the fire pit area and use of the grill. We had eggs from their chickens and also bought some steak from them to grill. It was a good location to stay with lots to do in the area. My kids had a lot of fun playing and checking out the farm animals. I appreciated the ability to do some laundry on site. The hosts were very warm, welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much. We would definitely stay again if we had the chance to travel out that way again (we’re from Michigan) and will recommend to others. Thanks! ~The Thompson Family

Thank you! We loved meeting & visiting with your family :) We love hosting families like yours!!
Campfire Cabins is proudly owned by Albert & Sarah Sutton. We grew up in the Black Hills. We were high school sweethearts and married after graduation. We then moved to Rapid City for work. 25 years and 6 children later we had the opportunity to purchase land and move back to the Black Hills. We soon realized how much we had missed the beauty and serenity of the local area.
We decided to turn our property into an organic hobby farm with a large greenhouse, chickens, ducks & turkeys, milking goats, and a handful of beef cows. We also decided to build cabins near our home to share with other families wanting to experience all the Black Hills have to offer. With 2 children still at home, we own and operate the cabins as family business. We look forward to getting to know you and be an added blessing to your vacation experience!
Why they chose this property
We believe family is important, and we want to give your family a memorable vacation! We know how stressful it can be on everyone stuck in a car all day. Once you get here there is plenty of room for your kiddos to run around, play ball, and have a water fight on the front lawn while you take a breather and unpack. There are toys, games, books, and movies for them to use. Grab a drink and have a seat on the front porch and just enjoy their energy and happiness :)
Our cabins have a full-sized kitchen for you to prepare and cook snacks & meals. There is a small dining table inside each cabin and picnic tables and chairs outside for you to sit around and enjoy the togetherness of a meal and conversation.
With 6 children of our own, we know how expensive travel can be! Vacations don't have to be costly or "flashy". Kids will remember the TIME and EXPERIENCES you give them. They will remember bottle feeding calves up in the Sutton's barn and playing with the baby rabbits. They will remember the days you spent hiking, boating, or ATVing with them outdoors. They will remember the other kids they met at the campfire and the smores! They will remember playing soccer, beanbags, or flashlight tag with those same new friends while you get a chance to relax around the campfire and visit with other families from around the country. Want to know which trails are the best? Ask the other grandparents & parents who have already hiked/rode them! What is the best scenic drive? Is the pontoon boat or ATV rental worth it? Where are the best restaurants? Everyone is willing to help you out & share their experiences.
We (Al & Sarah) live on the property and are always available to answer your questions. Feel free to call or message us anytime! We are down at the campfire most nights, so come down and introduce yourselves! Smores are on us!!
