The location is perfect. That’s where it ended. For nearly 900/night, I was incredibly disappointed. The property felt tired, poorly maintained, and nothing like the “fresh” photos in the VRBO listing. The shower isn’t even the same as pictured and desperately needs rehab. There was black mold, a disgusting tile shower floor, and cracked tile where the glass was installed. Face clothes were left still in the packaging with store price tags and not washed in advance. The prior turnover was equally poor. We arrived to wet towels/items in the washer, empty soap dispensers in both bathrooms, dirty wet dishes in the dishwasher that we had to dry and rewash, and old coffee still in the machine. We were provided exactly one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, one garbage bag and no tissues. The property manager did help with toilet paper and 1 extra garbage bag, which we appreciated, but these are basics upon arrival. There were safety and maintenance concerns. A barn-door closet was already off its rail, and a broken outdoor chair nearly caused my child to fall toward the firepit. The advertised Sonos system was not functional, despite our being familiar with Sonos. Yes, location is wonderful, but it does not justify the costs. We could have stayed at a mediocre York Beach hotel for a third of the price and received about the same level of care. The listing promises “relaxing warmth and genuine touches of luxury.” After our stay, that line was almost comical.
