This rental is very unique. We went for a relaxing long weekend, but we also wanted to be fairly active. We fished, hiked, kayaked, played basketball, played board games, BBQ'd, enjoyed outdoor fires, and all of it was on the property. There's something special about being able to do everything you want without getting in the car. We also took a few beautiful hikes at Audra State Park, which is literally one turn out of the property entrance and a few minutes away. The convenience store was there as well, and it was adorable, with extremely friendly staff. We highly recommend this rental, and we see ourselves returning many times in the future.
The farmhouse is a great place to hangout and getaway from everyday life plenty of fun activities and very peaceful environment all the amenities are great!
The six of us were only here for a few days in the winter, but we loved the house and property. We will definitely keep it in mind for gathering in the summer.
The house has all modern conveniences. Beds were all very comfortable. Use of kayaks and float tubes on the creek was a big plus. The property is lovely and well-maintained. We love hiking at Audra Park and being so close to the park was a big draw.
This place was perfect for my group of friends and I to ring in the new year! Plenty of space to spread out and the owners were very responsive to any questions I had. I would absolutely come back and recommend it!
This place is quiet and comfortable with so many amenities on site. The kids loved the hot tub and toys in the shed. Mom and I loved setting on the porch watching the geese flying and splashing around.
Well worth the drive to have dinner at "Smoke on the Water" while visiting the area,
The location was great! Right down the road is Alum State Park with the absolute best swimming spot for kids & adults alike! House had all the accommodations one would need. The internet was very spotty (due to Frontier, not the home equipment) so be prepared there if any work responsibilities. Cell phone signal was found up the road. The only thing to note is that it is a pretty steep hill to get down to the river with the kayaks and to pull them back up.
Very nice, quiet property. The dogs had a blast running in the field and woods. River level was extremely low, unable to fish or kayak. Relaxing nights, star gazing and sitting next to the fire pit. Great place to wind down and catch up with friends and family
Spot on for enjoying the outdoors and enjoying time with friends and family. The host were helpful in every way. They go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
Property was beautifully maintained! Picturesque surroundings and private. Lots to do. The owners have really set things up to maximize taking advantage of the property. Highly recommended!
We didn't want to leave.

You are welcome back any time John. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay!
It was absolutely amazing. Area was great! Adults and children had a wonderful time, playing games, working puzzles and walking the property. After playing in the snow, they were able to come in and sit by the fire and warm up. Mark was so helpful. A must to visit.
We had the best time at the Farmhouse. So many activities for the whole family. We had two seven year old children on our trip and they had so much fun .The house was clean and well stocked with everything we would possibly need. So many extra little touches to make us feel welcomed. The hosts are so thoughtful and responsive. One of our best vacations.
From the moment we arrived and saw the farmhouse fully decorated for Christmas we knew our stay would be amazing. Our family had a great holiday week. We were able to visit nearby friends and family, enjoy some time in the hot tub, and took a trip to the sled run at Blackwater Falls. The property has everything you need and the hosts were so kind. The weather cooperated for us to take a walk around the farm and gather fresh eggs from the coop. Already shared with family for them to book a stay and will be looking ahead for when we can schedule our next visit.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. You are welcome back to the farmhouse any time!
This is a spacious home set up for families. Lots of space even if the weather doesn't cooperate. There are many games for kids and adults, good wifi connection, description matches. We enjoyed playing in the field, using the fire pit and collecting eggs from the chickens. Audra Park was nearby for swimming with younger children. Unfortunately, the river was in flood stage so we didn't use the kayaks or floats. Beds are comfy. Plenty of kitchen equipment. Highly recommend.
My family and I needed a little rest and recharge after a busy 1st quarter and this house was great. We enjoyed the hot tub and the house was well appointed and beautifully decorated. It was also the cleanest vacation rental we have stayed at in probably 5 years (so maybe 20 houses). The views were calming and we enjoyed the firepit. Only downside is the weather didn’t cooperate with our outdoor activities and this part of WV didn’t seem to have a whole lot else. But we enjoyed the home and each others company!
We had a great stay. Plenty of room for 5 adults and 4 children. The hot tub and outdoor shower were a big hit and the upstairs bath was amazing. The day was spent on the river with kayaks. The kids loved fishing in the pond and we spent the evenings around the firepit making smores. The property manager dropped off veggies from his garden.Highly recommend.
The property was as advertised. It was very clean and had a homey decor. There were ample amenities, there wasn’t anything lacking that we needed Our dogs loved the acreage. Access to the river was very nice, however, when we were there, it was quite low making kayaking impossible. We were still able to sit on the tubes and have fun in the water. We ventured to Audra State Park and thoroughly enjoyed the waterhole for swimming. A great getaway from the hustle and bustle of every day life.
This quaint farmhouse is exactly what I needed for a family getaway. The kayaks and trails allowed my more active family members to be entertained along the miles of river. The others just spent their time on the porch/hot tub. Beds were very comfortable. The old house has its quirks of squeaks and pops, also with limited cell phone service. Rest assured the wifi is good and there is a house phone available. Will definitely. Consider to rent again.

About the host

My husband and I live in Pittsburgh and have twins in high school who love sports! We have a Great Dane named Chief who comes everywhere with us. We like to buy places, fix them up and enjoy them with our family. Now that our twins are in high school, they are very so busy with basketball, track and football so it's hard for us to get away to go to our vacation homes. We have decided to rent them out for other families to enjoy what we love about them.
Why they chose this property
This property is a peaceful place on the river where you can either relax or do lots of fun stuff outdoors: kayak, tube, fish, hike, build bonfires, go hot tubbing, or just relax on one of 4 decks. This is a place to disconnect, unwind and spend quality time with friends and family members. To keep the property in its best shape, we charge an additional fee for each guest over 10. This helps mitigate the cost involved with the additional wear-and-tear on the property.
What makes this property unique
This 100+ year old space has been fully restored with original farmhouse features and all the modern amenities you could ever want. It is a private and intimate property that is the perfect place for gatherings to either enjoy the outdoor activities or for pure relaxation. The farmhouse has been meticulously designed with everything you will need to kick back and relax including a hot tub on the side deck, wi-fi, lots of super soft blankets, bathrobes in every bedroom, double-sided gas fireplace, a hammock outdoors, central air conditioning and heat, Adirondack chairs on multiple decks and around the bonfire pit. The layout of the property was designed for ultimate comfort and the rooms are modern and uniquely decorated to maintain the history of the home. One of our favorite features of the farmhouse is the multiple decks in the back, front, side, as well as a separate deck overlooking the river with a picnic table to enjoy meals together. The side deck has a hot tub and an outdoor shower for guests to use. Comfortable Adirondack chairs line all the decks. A few steps away from the back deck is a large firepit that is set up with Adirondack chairs. The bonfire pit sits next to a koi pond with a small waterfall for ultimate relaxation sounds. There is a shed placed next to the bonfire pit stocked with wood for evening campfires. We also provide a basket of s'more fixings for each guest. The property has a large yard which is perfect for children to play on or for adults to have a bocce or horseshoe match, which we provide. From our property there is direct access to the Buckhannon River. Guests can walk right down to the riverbank to swim, float, kayak, or fish. We provide 5 kayaks, 4 tubes and 3 fishing floats which is stored in an outdoor shed to easily bring down to the river. Each kayak has a paddle and life jackets for guest to use.
