Good location. Easy walking distance to several restaurants, bars, and coffee. Quick taxi into town. Enjoyed a visit one afternoon from howler monkees in the backyard trees. Would stay again.
It's a smidge out of the way but really cute. The cafe next door is amazing! We stayed over NYE so it was a bit harder to find taxi trucks. We wished there was a TV to relax and watch a movie but overall I'd recommend.
Kristin was very helpful with travel tips and sight seeing ideas. The house is spacious with a wonderful garden full of exotic (to me) plants. Bird watching is delightful. We enjoyed walking the beach and having dinner at the nearby open air restaurants.

Our family loved Casa K
Casa K is a wonderful place for families. The house is spacious and you cannot beat the view! We loved staying a bit out of Bocas Town, yet loved that we could walk to Skully's and Ciao Pizza! Chris was very helpful and quick to answer our questions. We have nothing but positive things to say!

I'm very pleased to hear about your positive experience! Thank you for choosing to stay at our home!
Great house for group of friends or large family. Fully equipped kitchen with all you’d need, tons of towels and extra bedding. Views of the beach were amazing from the porch. Very quiet location but short walk to food and bars. We loved it. Very attentive hosts. Thank you!!

Amazing
I cannot recommend this property enough. I truly left a piece of me in Bocas. The house was simple yet beautiful. Perfect for a family or small group. There were 6 adults in our travel pack and it was perfect. Beautiful views, wonderful surf, and wildlife all right there. I cannot wait to go back!!

It makes me smile to know you had such a wonderful experience! I'm grateful I'm able to be a part in other's fabulous adventures!!
I thought the location was great. I love the sound of the ocean and the crashing waves right out front was amazing! Tyson was great with helping us find great people to take us on guides, kitchen was well equipped. The only things I think could have made it a little better would be better pillows, the mattress was really firm and I sleep on a firm mattress at home but these were very firm and the trees blocked a good portion of the view. Overall this is a great place to stay with lots to do close by.
The house is in a nice location not too far from Bocas Town and next to a few restaurants in walking distance. The bunk bedrooms were downstairs and outside (separate from the main house) and only 1 had air conditioning and neither had safety rails for the top bunk. The second bedroom inside the home did not have a closed in ceiling so was also like a loft in that sense. Overall the bedrooms were not as expected. You can listen to the ocean waves from the balcony which was lovely, but we were disappointed to find out the beach was only for advanced surfers and not for swimming. The hosts are very helpful and communicative, and gave great recommndations. Bocas is a lovely island and we were able to enjoy it, we were just surprised by the bedrooms and accessibility to the beach.

Liked: Location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Check-in, communication
Communication/Customer Service not great
I was not happy with the communication/customer service from the property manager, Lorenna. Her emails were sporadic and abrupt. Leading up to my trip it was difficult to get info from her. Then she told me the house wouldn't be ready at check in time. She said she would recommend I go to lunch and shopping. My family had taken 3 flights and also were recovering from colds and did not feel like leaving our bags in a cab and walking around town. I was nice about it and told her we would patiently wait outside, which we did with no complaints. Then on check out day, I asked for a little flexibility on time, but she would not even give a half hour. She bluntly stated that the cleaning crew would be there promptly at 11am (which they were not). In addition, on the day we arrived in Bocas she had said she was sending a ride for us. I thought this was a kind courtesy gesture. When the driver dropped us off at the house, he asked for $20. We thought he was scamming us. We don't speak Spanish so could not sort it out with him and just paid him. The house itself was spacious with good AC. As others have stated, it's not totally clean. It was dusty/dingy and had things like empty hand soap bottles in the restrooms (No soap or shampoo provided). At any rate, it's a nice house, but not the best service or cleanliness.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m really sorry to hear of your challenges with Lorenna, our current property manager & her cleaning crew.
We are switching to a new property manager with his own cleaning crew next week. We are certain this will improve consistency in communication and cleaning, as well as arrival & departure transitions.
Sincerely,
Kristin

Adventures in Bocas
Cons:
This is a beautiful beach house and has the potential to be amazing, however, it had too many quirks.
I would rate it a 3.5, somewhere in between average and good. It had no lights in the family room which was very dark and we were not able to use it. Tyson was very nice and tried to resolve this problem and brought over a couple of lamps, but it just hardly put out any light. We were in spanish school and needed that light to study at night, so it was very inconvenient especially for paying for a house that we thought would be in full working order. The kitchen is not set up well to cook. The pots and pans are pretty lousy and the stove has the littlest flame, which would take us forever to cook dinner. We originally planned to cook most of the time, but ended up paying for the expensive taxi into town for dinner because it just took too long to cook on that stove. So that was disappointing.
Pros:
This house is on a lovely surf break, which my husband surfed everyday we were there. Tyson picked us up from the boat dock, was very friendly, showed us around a bit and took us out to the house. One morning we saw howler monkeys in the backyard and they were the only ones we saw on our 3 week trip, so that was very cool. My daughter was especially excited. It is a beautiful area and there is a new restaurant one house over right on the beach called paki point. It is open during the day for lunch. We enjoyed the convenience of that spot. This area outside of Bocas felt safe and was cleaner than Bocas town. It is right on the water and is really beautiful. I just would not plan to cook there. The cabs charge per person and generally charged 3 dollars a person, so for a family of four this cab ride quickly added up with the extra trip back into town for dinner at night that we had not planned for. All in all, it is pretty and a quiet area, one of the nicest on isla colon. We saw no mosquitos but many chitras. They really liked me and it didn't matter if a had on 30% deet, they still bit me. I would not stay here again, but I love Panama and Bocas we had an amazing trip.

Thank you for taking time to share your likes and dislikes about my home. Your feedback helps us make changes for future clients.
I apologize the lights in the combo light and fan fixtures were not working during your stay. We continue to search for the bulbs which, apparently, are hard to find. They have not been located in Panama or Alaska yet.
Furthermore, I am sorry, I did not realize the floor lamps we purchased were insufficient to provide light for studying.
We will also check into the complaint about the propane stove. I apologize it was not working to your satisfaction. I have not had any other complaints, or issues during my stays. The only time I have experienced low heat output is when the propane needs refilled. Please, if you experience an issue like this, let the homeowner or property manager know so the issue can be resolved.
Transportation to Bocas is a reality, as the house is located 3 miles outside of town. Taxis are an option. Renting bicycles or scooters are an option. I have had some clients that really enjoy walking or jogging one way, and taking a taxi home. I have had a water taxi drop me off in the cove near the house. I have even paddled the two person kayak to town for a late lunch, for variety.
I am happy to hear the howler monkeys and summertime waves appeared for added joy and special memories.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, so we can work to improve the experience for future clients.

It was different than we expected!
This was our first time to Panama and we traveled all over starting with Bocas Del Toro. We are a family with (2) 25 year old Son's and a 13 year old daughter and we are in our mid 40's. Bocas was not at all what we expected and all 3 of the kids were ready to leave within the first 2 days. (We did leave a day early) If you do NOT party and don't surf then this is not the place for you. It rained every day, almost all day. The ocean in front of the house is completely unusable as it serves as a road to other towns and can not be swam in due to the waves and rocks. We did go to Star Fish Beach (Cold, cloudy, pouring rain) but it was neat for the kids to see the starfish. On another day, we did go to Bibi's on one of the other island to eat and found out when we got there that eating was the only thing to do over there! Again, snorkeling, surfing and parting seem to be the extent of the activities all over the island and surrounding islands. The Manager Tyson is a great guy and he tried to give us as much information and was very accommodating. The home is what I expected and no real complaints other than mosquitoes are horrible! (Maybe it was all the rain!) We did not leave any doors open and kept the air on in the bedrooms which we were told in the beginning would keep them out. It didn't, one night before bed we killed 48 mosquitoes on the walls in the bedroom downstairs. We were also disappointed as we seen NO wildlife or even heard them (No tropical birds, monkeys, sloth's/NOTHING) so if your looking for nature this is also not the place. We rode the Golf Cart all the way to the end of the road to Playa Bluff (a good hour on the golf cart and still seen no nature) Also went to the opposite side by Golf Cart to Playa Boca del Drago which was a couple hours by Golf Cart hoping to see nature and STILL nothing. We went to Pedasi on the opposite coast and they were in abundance there. Having traveled all over Panama I can tell you that Bocas feels like a Country different than Panama itself- Different people, different vibe, different weather and very trashy. Overall, it was just not the place we had though it would be and would not return to Bocas in the future.

I'm sorry to hear your trip to Bocas del Toro was disappointing, but it's good to hear my house was what you expected. I try to give renters an accurate idea of the house through photos and descriptions.
Bocas del Toro is known for being rainy, especially in July. I also visited this July for two weeks. It did rain nearly every day, but I saw a fair amount of sun as well. I felt the cloudiness helped maintain a very pleasant temperature throughout the day. And during the rainy times, I enjoyed myself by reading in a hammock, walking on the beach with an umbrella, drinking coffee on the deck, watching the waves crash, and watching the birds dart around in the wind and rain. It is nice you can be outside on the decks without getting rained on. I do recommend you bring a few travel umbrellas. They are quite handy to keep in your day pack in case you find yourself in a sudden downpour.
Regarding the mosquitos, I felt they were very minimal this trip both in the house and around town. I did, however, find several screens in the main house that needed repaired. I fixed them during my stay.
I'm sad for your group, and honestly, shocked that you didn't see any wildlife. Wildlife is one of the reasons I LOVE the location of my home. Every time I visit I see an abundance of tropical birds and shorebirds, as well as a variety of other critters: large toads, an assortment of crabs, geckos, tree frogs, turtles... AND the howler monkeys! The howler monkeys are always a highlight! During much of my stay this July, they were visible from my back deck. They were even in the trees in the back yard: mamas, papas and babies. Although I cannot always see them, many times I can hear them from the house around 6 am and in the late afternoon.
I also saw sloths for the first time this trip. There were three sloths that were unusually active in close proximity to Red Frog Beach.
I'm back in Alaska now, but have a heart filled with tropical sites and sounds. I hope your next adventure will do the same for you. Take care, Kristin
We absolutely loved our 8 night stay at Casa de K! Our family of five (three teenagers) all had our own beds and good spaces. The house is beautifully constructed of tropical hardwood. The kitchen was fully equipped and we cooked a lot of meals for ourselves.
Lots to do in the area - especially if you like tropical Caribbean paradise 😎. Wish we had more time there!
Thanks Kristin, for a great family vacation!
It was great all around. Kristin and her team arranged for our transportation from the airport to the property. We enjoyed the locally made welcoming gifts they left for us. The location was perfect…it was quiet, close to good surf, & restaurants. Located about 10 min away from downtown. The house was perfect! Wake up to the sound of the ocean and start your day with a surf or a cup of coffee/fresh coconut water on the porch with an ocean view. Looking to just relax…the hammocks on the deck are perfect! If you’re looking for an adventure, go snorkeling or rent an atv and head to the jungle to see sloths, monkeys, and much more! We loved it here and will definitely return!
Our group of 8 had a nice time staying in this home. We were greeted a the Bocas airport by a nice member of the management agency who even took us to a grocery store before heading out to the house and showing us around. The home has a wonderful deck with two hammocks and comfortable furniture overlooking the tropical front yard and the ocean beyond. The sound of the crashing waves was constant and soothing! We loved the location - just outside of the hustle and bustle of town but easy to get there. We thoroughly enjoyed Skully's beach bar and restaurant nearby - great food, drinks, and staff! We rented golf carts (Bocas Carts) and they were perfect for getting around. We even went all the way across the island to Drago and then took a boat to Starfish Beach. (Although we highly recommend Playa Bluff over Starfish!! It's much closer, less crowded, huge, and stunning!)
The kitchen in the house was adequately stocked and had working appliances. The bathrooms were nice and the hot water was plentiful. The living room furniture could use some updating, and we had an issue with ants (they bite!) but remember you're in the jungle! (Don't leave food open and out, even in backpacks. We kept a lot of things in the fridge.)
The "bunk rooms" and bathroom downstairs were not what I was expecting. Only one had air conditioning, they are very sparse and each opens onto an open-air carport with a small bathroom across the carport. These rooms weren't set up well for our group of teenagers so they ended up in the loft of the main house which was comfortable but offered less privacy than they hoped.
It's not fancy but all in all we had a great time here and would recommend this location for your tropical paradise vacation!
This place had plenty of room, the room were nice and had A.C. Hammocks on the porch with a sea view made for an awesome morning with coffee. The Kayak was fun to take out on the ocean nearby. I recommend this place for any family or group, I was impressed with the nice interior.
The property was as listed and Chris was accessible for extra gas tanks. The area is great for surfing Bluffs, Panche, and Pakis. Pakis point and Skully’s is where we spent a lot of time.
There were really only two issues. The previous renters had dogs and although they tried to clean the best they could we had to clean the dog hair everyday. The other issue was the two leaking AC units. Seems like their drains were clogged causing leaking on the floors. We spent a lot of time cleaning and drying it.

We sincerely appreciate your feedback. I am sorry for the issues with the air conditioners. We are working to resolve that issue. And, the dog hair -- lesson learned. We will no longer be allowing pets, and will continue to repair the damage done so future renters will not need to deal with fur.

Large house with wildlife all around
The property: Exactly as described in the website. This is a large two-storey house, just across the road from the ocean. In keeping with the building style for this area, the main living quarters (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room and balcony) are reached by an outdoor staircase. One of the three bedrooms is a loft overlooking the living room. A laundry/storage room, two small bedrooms with bunk beds, and a bathroom are on the ground floor, with doors that open onto the car-port. Upon arrival, there were a few maintenance issues which were very quickly corrected. It was very hot outside during our stay, and the AC in the house was greatly appreciated.
On or near the property, there are howler monkeys, sloths, geckos and lots of birds; the sloths were especially exciting for the kids in our group. There are two restaurants within walking distance, one of which has a swimming pool and other activities. The beaches nearby are good for experienced surfers, but were not ideal for swimming when we were there because one needed to cross a fairly wide shallow rock/coral area to get to water deep enough to swim in. (This is not a comment on this house; it’s just a characteristic of Isla Colón, except for Starfish Beach and Boca del Drago.)
The arrival: We were greeted at the airport by people from the property management firm who drove us to the house after stopping at a grocery store so we could stock up on food and other necessities.
The service while there: We had small children with us and were concerned that the railings on the loft and outdoor staircase were unsafe (several posts were missing). The property managers quickly brought us some rope that we used to secure the loft railing. Two other maintenance issues that arose while we were there (a leaky faucet that was causing the pump to run frequently, and an AC unit that failed) were corrected the same day that we reported them. We really appreciated the quick and efficient response to these concerns.
The departure: Kristin granted our request for a late checkout, which made our life much easier with small children and a lot of luggage.
In summary, we enjoyed our stay and found the service to be efficient and friendly. We recommend this house, which was very comfortable for our group of 6.

It is as advertised. The balcony and communal space is really nice.
The property is a nice communal space. The upstairs balcony has stunning views over the sea and the front garden is good for bird spotting. The kitchen and dining room area is well stocked. We were a party of 7 and my children stayed at the bottom of the house which each have their own door and locks. The rooms are basic and a bit musty, but fine for teenagers. The location is great as it is slightly out of town and near Skullys bar and also a great Pizza place too. We used taxis to get around, but you can hire bikes if you want. The house is clean and tidy and a great beach house. It's homely and I would recommend it if you want to enjoy Bocas but be a bit more independent.

About the host
Hosted by Kristin
Hola! My name is Kristin Bacon. I have been an Alaskan resident for 19 years, and need my soul kissed by the tropical sun and surf on a regular basis. I instantly felt as though I had arrived home when I got off the plane in Bocas del Toro for the first time in 2006. Currently, I own a pediatric therapy business in Alaska, as well as train and race Alaskan Huskies. For me, Bocas Town and this house offer the right combination of simplicity, relaxation, nature, culture and adventure.
Why they chose this property
I chose this property because of its peaceful location and quality construction, as well as the sound/view of the ocean waves and easy access to surfing. These features made this property ideal to me. I also love the abundance of wildlife that can be seen and heard around the house.
What makes this property unique
I love the tranquility this home offers!! Casa de K's private location allows me to simply enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean, tropical foliage and variety of wildlife. And, as a surfer this property is hard to beat. Additionally, there is easy access to all that Bocas has to offer -- cultural diversity, water sports, many restaurants, shopping, adventures, Spanish classes, yoga, organized tours, etc.
