Welcome to the Fossil Woods Getaway! Enjoy a cozy retreat from the Phoenix heat in the beautiful Ponderosa Pines of Arizona. Our newly renovated home is 984 sqft with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and sleeps 6 comfortably. It is situated on a nice lot with plenty of space to relax outside. Come enjoy the outdoors, watch the wildlife walk by and cozy up by the fire-pit and make lasting memories!
Fossil Woods Getaway is nestled in the quiet community of Strawberry Arizona, right across from the oldest standing schoolhouse in Arizona which was built in 1885. We are situated on a corner lot, just over half an acre, with plenty of space for games, sitting around a fire, and relaxing. Our driveway is circular and can fit multiple cars, quads, razors, side by sides, bikes, etc. So, bring your off road toys, there are many trails to explore in the area.
Wildlife including elk, deer, javelinas, skunks, foxes, coyotes roam the neighborhood often and do come on our property. Please keep your distance, you will be responsible for all risks and bodily injury that may occur from encounters with wildlife.
We do have a propane grill. If propane tank is empty, we will reimburse you if you fill them up (must provide a receipt). There is a gas station to fill them up down the street in Pine.
In the summer months, we have a swamp cooler to help keep the house cool. Windows will need to be cracked at least 2” to effectively allow cross-ventilation and control of the air flow. It will also help to reduce the amount of humidity and moisture in the home.
In the winter months, we have a central heating. We also have a gas fireplace that can be used year around if need be.
Please be mindful of water usage - Pine/Strawberry are in a severe drought. We are on a shared well, at times water pressure may be low. We should receive prior notice however a water outage might occur for a few hours while the company works on improving outdated infrastructure.
We do have security cameras on the outside of our home.

The cozy cabin was just what we were looking for! We loved the ambience, the quietness and hearing nature!
Amanda was very responsive on a few questions I had and she gave us good recommendations in terms of restaurants.
Overall a wonderful experience, and we will go back for sure!
Just got back form a great "girls weekend" away at this cabin. No issues at all, great communication from the owner who even offered us a late check-out! Would definitely recommend this cabin rental and the girls and I are hoping to do this once a year!
Had a wonderful time staying here with the family. The cabin appears to be newly remodeled and is decorated nicely. Our two boys enjoyed the "kid's room" that included two twin beds, a few books and some small toys. We all woke up every morning and watched the animals stroll across the property.
We really enjoyed our stay at Amanda’s cabin. It was very clean and nicely decorated with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We spent a lot of our time on the front porch enjoying the view and wildlife. We also walked and explored the area in our Jeep. We ate a lot of our meals at the cabin and enjoyed lunch at the Pinewood Tavern in Pine. We also tried delicious pies at the Pie Bar! We were even treated to rain one evening. It was a nice getaway from the Tucson heat!
We had booked this property for my wife’s birthday weekend, and it was everything we had hoped for and more! We absolutely love the outdoors and all things wildlife and this place delivered. With a short drive to Strawberry and Pine, you have everything you need while having everything you want at the cabin. We look forward to our next stay here! Thank you Amanda and family!

Thank you so much for the kind review! We are so happy your family had a wonderful time. Thank you for taking good care of our home as well. We look forward to having you and your family back anytime!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Fossil Woods getaway. The house is in a beautiful forested setting with both front and back porches. The first night we were visited my a herd of Elk. We also saw a Javelina as well as many squirrels. We felt really refreshed and hope to return again in the future.
Second time at property. If you like wildlife, this is the place. We saw literally over 100 elk during our stay in the area. (Strawberry and Pine). The property has everything you need. Very big yard surrounded by tall pines. The owners are awesome and communication is great. Right down the street is the best Italian food you will ever eat at The Strawberry Lodge. Reservations highly recommended.
Our stay was exactly what we needed! The house was clean, organized, nice layout (especially for a 2 year old that loves to run around). The corner gas fire place did an amazing job warming up the living room area. The tv had Netflix, which came handy for the kiddos. The neighborhood was quiet, and it it was cool checking out the old school.
It’s located near some restaurants (make sure to check their hours) and if closed, the city of Pine is within mins. Overal, we plan on booking again!

Thank you so much Marc for the kind and thoughtful review. We love to hear when our guests enjoyed their stay. We look forward to having you and your family back again!
Our family needed a quick trip to escape the Phoenix heat. We found this clean well kept cabin was just the place to use as our base camp. We were welcomed by elk and deer in the yard, and thoroughly enjoyed some type of wildlife at the house every night of our stay. Proximity hiking is good , just a short drive to water wheel and Az. Trail.
The home was very clean and well kept. The internet and all Amenities functioned as intended.
I’d highly recommend this rad little cabin in the woods!

Thanks Justin! So happy you and your family enjoyed your stay and got to see some wildlife! We’d love to have you back anytime.
Wonderful cabin in Strawberry on a nice sized lot. Literally saw elk daily. Surrounded by trees and peaceful but close enough to hop on the hwy and run to Pine or Payson. We went hiking, rode horses at Kohls ranch, ate at a fantastic restaurant right down the street. Its a 4 minute drive. The owner was excellent with communication, the place was very clean. Cant say enough about how responsive she was. Gave us great tips on where to go. You will not be dissapointed. 5 stars all the way.
Our family stayed at this cabin for 4 nights & it was wonderful! The cabin was clean, had everything we needed, had comfortable beds, super soft towels, & was overall very comfortable to stay at. Our young children LOVED being able to be outside in cooler weather & exploring. The fenced backyard was a nice peace of mind for us parents when our children were outside. The backyard swing was perfect to sit on & relax while enjoying being outside. We saw elk daily, a deer, & some squirrels. The neighborhood was quiet & the cabin was conveniently located. Amanda was very responsive, informative & easy to communicate with. We’d love to come back here!
This is our third time staying here. Absolutely love the house and location. Surrounded by tall pines, we always see elk in the neighborhood. Actually saw a deer on the neighbors lawn last time. If you get a chance, make a reservation for dinner at The Lodge down the street. Best Italian you will ever have. Also Pie Bar which is fantastic. The early bird cafe in Pine is great for breakfast. The house itself is perfect with everything you need. Its on half an acre so huge front yard for kids to run around. The owners are phenomenal and the communication is outstanding. Nice hiking in the area. Very peaceful neighborhood. 5 stars all the way. Would highly recommend
My family and I spent 5 days here recently and had a great time. The home was was clean and in a great location where we had many visitors through the afternoon, from Elk to Deer to Javelinas. We were close to both Strawberry and Pine restaurants and other shops, as well as several good hiking spots. Amanda was awesome and very reachable when needed. Great time has by all.
