Welcome to our River Retreat! Nestled between Big Rapids and Cadillac, you will be sure to appreciate the calming effects of the Muskegon River. This home is ideal for families with a bunkbed with trundle for kids, and 2 other bedrooms with queen and king sized bed respectively. You will enjoy the sunlight from the living room, where you can play board games or work on puzzles. There is excellent WiFi, a smart TV and a fully stocked kitchen. There is abundant seating options outdoors, including a patio table and a Blackstone BBQ. There are many lawn games available to play on the large flat yard, and plenty of parking space. The garage has been transformed into a rec room, complete with foosball table and dart board. Enjoy making smores in the evening and sit around the firepit!

**SUMMER** - enjoy tubing down the river with 2 accessible spots where you can park your car. We provide 8 tubes that can be used. Fishing is plentiful at this location, so be sure to bring your poles! There are several ORV trails nearby too!

**FALL/WINTER** - we are ideally located between the Haymarsh State Game Area and Cadillac and it's State and National Forest. For snow mobile enthusiasts, there is nearby access to the White Pine Trail.

We stayed in Hersey for our family Christmas at our dad’s house. The river retreat was just perfect for our needs. Rooms were more than comfortable; everything was easy to find. We saw a pair of bald eagles across the river, along with lots of other beautiful winter scenerey. One of us has limited mobility and found everything very, very accessible, which was great. Our hosts were kind and flexible given the inclement weather we faced. We’ll definitely stay again and look forward to a summer booking to enjoy the deck and river.

We love this property, enough to come back a second time. We will be planning another trip and want to stay here again. The house is cozy inside and out, we saw lots of birds and even deer while sitting outside. We also used the tubes and tubed from up stream to the house, lots of fun!! Can’t wait toco e back!!

Fantastic Fourth of July Vacation

We loved rafting and kayaking. The cabin is wonderful . The only detractor was using an extension ladder to access the river. There is no way to launch kayaks at the property. The access to the river not easy, but we managed.

Clean and cute with a beautiful view.

We stayed four nights in Oct 2024, it was enough off the beaten path to be super relaxing but close enough to do som great fall driving rltours and lighthouse visits. We had everything we needed and the property was well cared for.

Great girls trip weekend!

We stayed here for a bachelorette retreat weekend and had a blast! The property was peaceful and beautiful, with gorgeous river front views. We did a river float with the tubes provided and all had so much fun!

Home was very clean and comfortable in a quiet area. It was our home base while attending the Evert Dulcimer festival. Beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed to make meals and plenty of space for us to spread out and practice our instruments. While the river was very inviting, we didn’t have time to get out on the water. We have all decided that next year we will need to extend our stay so we can attend the festival and enjoy the river and/or nearby bike trail. We are looking forward to making it an annual trip.

Nice place

We had a nice stay. The beds were comfortable. We didn’t spend much time at the house during the day and it was kinda rainy when we were there so we did not get to enjoy the large deck and river location but it lots of comfortable outdoor chairs and dining table.

Relaxing Getaway

House was very clean and all needed amenities were included. We enjoyed the isolated location, tubing on the river, fishing, cooking out on the Blackstone, relaxing by the campfire, and golfing at nearby courses. Highly recommend!

Short trip

We made a quick trip to put eyes on my 89 year old father, property was within 3 miles of his house so it was perfect. Living room furniture could be more comfortable but overall it is beautifully decorated and very homey and inviting. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful Home!

Julie is such an easy going host who has great communication. The property is just as pictured. Everyone couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful the house is. It’s right on the river although getting down to the river is somewhat difficult. We definitely would book again.

Spacious and clean with beautiful views

The cabin was the perfect home base this weekend while we visited family. It’s spacious and clean, stocked with all kinds of good stuff (coffee, sugar, condiments, paper plates, ziploc, books, puzzles, etc) and the host was very responsive. The views are gorgeous, the air conditioning is ice cold, and the location was convenient at just a few minutes from Hersey. This is also the first place we’ve stayed where the checkout to-do list isn’t a mile long. It made packing up and leaving with my family a much less stressful experience. Highly recommend this property!

Beauty on the river!

We were so fortunate to find this gem at the last minute after leaving the flithy place we had rented at the end of our Michigan vacation. The check in was a breeze and we settled in for three relaxing days before heading home. The back yard overlooking the river and enjoying the fire pit was where we spent most of our time. The house had all we needed and many extras too (we enjoyed the brand new water shoes and tubes to float the river). We would definitely return and highly recommend this rental to others.

Great time on the river

The cabin is very well stocked and welcoming and has everything you need and more!! The only down side was the fact my dog could not access the water and also fishing was difficult from this location. . I would have appreciated the info that the river is not acessible except by sketchy ladder. Otherwise would reccomend for the relaxing time

Clean, Quiet and Scenic

We had a very satisfying stay at this property. The primary draw is the scenic setting on a quiet stretch of the Muskegon River. The main living areas of the house have windows to take advantage of the river views. There is also a spacious deck with the same. The interior is well equipped with newer (Ikea?) furnishings. While there are three bedrooms, the room with the bunk bed and trundle is small and best suited for children or a single adult in our opinion. And while on the subject of children, there is a small bluff descending to the river. Parties with children should be mindful of that. Great communication with owners. Would recommend and stay again. Thanks!

We booked this last minute for labor day weekend because it was my granddaughters birthday and first week at Ferris State. We all enjoyed the location and views of the Muskegon river and actually waded to the middle of the river and hung out there! We also enjoyed the tubes and took one of the recommended trips that brought you back to the house. The house itself is nice and clean love the views nice dining and kitchen area. We all were perplexed where realistically this slept nine people? we brought air mattresses and people had to sleep in the living room. Also mentioned in other reviews the uncomfortableness of the couches to sit on the condition of the dartboard and foosball have not changed! The deck and Blackstone were nice features but were dirty and gross. I feel we left them in way better shape then found! The yard consisted of alot of dirt and weeds which isn't ideal when you have a wet dog. I did appreciate that they accommodate your pet. The fire pit was nice and we enjoyed that a couple nights. The owners replied promptly when texted but the details and amenities were not easily found on site or in subsequent emails. I definitely would rent again if my party was for seven people. Thank you

Family Fun

A beautiful place by the river. Relaxing on the deck in the evening and early morning yoga with the serenity of the river was definitely a highlight for me! Only issue is not all house rules are posted on vrbo. The No Shoes was very hard on me, because of feet issues I can't walk too much without my orthotics. The carpet helped, but not enough to stop the pain. It's a good thing we spent most of the days out and about. Game room, not! Water stuff great, but dart board is a piece of junk and the Foosball had no balls.With that being said, I wasn't surprised, every vrbo place I have stayed in has been a disappointment, so I had very low expectations. Also the ladder, getting into the river is a bit sketchy or dangerous, those were words used. Definitely a danger is the post at the end of the steps leading to the river. Supposed to be a handrail? Don't!! Its very loose and I say very scary for a Nana and her 6 year old grandson.

Beautiful

This was a truly beautiful home with gorgeous decor. The view from the deck was perfect and the made sitting outside a wonderful experience with the sounds and sites. The host provided plenty of extras and various items from: microwave popcorn to shampoo if you forgot yours. The ability to wash and dry our dirty clothes to pack back up was great! The dart board, foosball, and board games were really nice to have. Our only con for the trip was the lack of accessibility to the actual river. Unfortunately, the river can only be accessed from a 12ft aluminum extension ladder, which is not easily used for all individuals. So we were unable to actually enjoy the river at the home, which was the main reason for our stay. Instead we went to the local park/campground and paid $30 for their two hour tube trip, which was fine, just not exactly what we were looking forward to.

Great spot along the river!

We really enjoyed having access to the river and such a great space to hang out outside. I could see how the ladder down to the river could be tough for people with physical limitations, but our group didn’t have a problem. We enjoyed space out front for yard games and being able to use the garage to hang out when we got a little bit of rain. Definitely recommend for a group looking to enjoy time outside or on the river!

Amazing getaway!

The house is perfect! The view of the river is great, and tubing down the river was lots of fun. The host was wonderful communicating everything and had so much available in the home. We loved every minute and look forward to visiting again in the future!

Relaxing Getaway

PROS: Good communication with property manager Easy to locate Very quiet Gorgeous view of the river Spacious deck Nice firepit Lots of room inside Beds were comfortable TV/WiFi good and easy to use Kitchen well stocked with necessary utensils/appliances CONS: No easy access to river (wasn't able to get in and enjoy it in that way) Furniture in living areas wasn't something you could relax on. Very uncomfortable. Had trouble regulating temperature at night so it wasn't hot sleeping. Overall, it was a really nice place. Making the river easily accessible and adding a few pieces of furniture you could relax on would make it about perfect.
