The property was tucked away from the road, and was quiet and private. It was still close enough to walk to the shops and restaurants. The number of restaurants nearby was limited, but we found it to be a welcome trade off for the calm respite after the long days at Acadia National Park and the crowds in the Bar Harbor area. We experienced clear and responsive communication with the host, Mary.
Terrific house that was ideal for our family of four. Spacious, clean, had every amenity. Delightfully secluded but close to town. We loved our stay and would book again!
Our family of 5 stayed for 4 nights to explore Acadia. House was clean and had all the essentials we needed. Maria did a great job communicating with us and even provided us with some details on the area to help us with the trip. We would visit again.
We loved this bright, comfortable cottage in a great location. This home had plenty of room for our family of six with comfortable beds. It was well-stocked with extra amenities like shampoo and dish detergent. The location was ideal, set in the woods for complete quiet and privacy but only a block's walk into town and a couple of minutes' drive from Acadia. The host was excellent - quick to respond and extremely helpful. We cooked most of our meals but enjoyed pizza and pastries from Little Notch Bakery. As a family we hiked lots of trails throughout the National Park, rode on a lobster boat (highlight for the kids), took a carriage ride in Acadia, ran in a 5k in Bar Harbor and enjoyed lovely drives and small towns all over the island. The house was well-stocked with games and puzzles and our kids enjoyed playing in the woods. Overall, highly recommended!
Great stay!
House was nice and accommodating. Cool loft and nice porch. Whole house was secluded in the woods. Made the stay tranquil. And just a quick walk to nice restaurants.
This is a sweet little home tucked away surrounded by woods, but also easy walking distance to Southwest Harbor shops and dining. The owners were extremely responsive. Overall an excellent experience!
Our family stayed here 3 nights in June and had a wonderful experience. The house is the quietest place I have ever stayed, nestled in the woods - we had deer not far from the window our last morning. It is also an easy walk to the shops and restaurants in Southwest Harbor, which was nowhere near as busy as Bar Harbor. It is also close (walkable) to the Island Explorer shuttle stop which we found convenient to use. Everything in the house was comfortable and clean. We would gladly stay here again!
This house was perfect for our family of six. Cute on the outside, clean and attractive on the inside with plenty of beds for everyone and surrounded by beautiful woods. We loved being able to walk into town. Only a ten-minute drive from Echo Lake and only about 20 minutes from Bar Harbor and the main part of Acadia park. We are so glad we stayed on the "quiet side". We would love to come back!
We went away with my little kids and my BIL. The upstairs room gave him space away from the kids to relax. The is a cute little town at the end of the street for ice cream, snacks and souvenirs. The house was easy to get to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Host was easy to contact when we had a question about stores pre and during the trip. Perfect for a getaway.
We loved our stay in this home. Our family of 6 (2 adults 4 kids) felt very comfortable in this well designed home. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. The upstairs loft family room had couch space for all the kids to lounge on a rainy day. Surrounding the home were trees that blocked out sight of any distant neighbors and were incredibly beautiful. A short walk down the street are some shops and many restaurant options; and a short drive brings you to many of the sites in Acadia.
This house was the perfect place to stay in Maine while we explored Acadia National Park. It's on the "quiet side" and about 25 minutes from Bar Harbor and, for us, the ideal location to relax after a long day of hiking. The town of Southwest Harbor is small but has a lovely restaurant for a sit down breakfast in the morning. It's more limited at night for dinner, but the house is fully equipped with a wonderful kitchen. We went to the harbor one night and bought fresh lobsters and everything is provided to cook lobsters on the deck! We had plenty of room for 5 adults and the house is decorated simply with a modern touch. I was worried having only one bathroom might be an issue, but it never was. I highly recommend this house and the host!
Our stay at Into the Woods was just perfect. Our kids (19, 16, 12) had plenty of space to unwind, their own beds, played cards and watched movies at night. Adults enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning. It’s SO quiet here! Great location, plenty of restaurants just down the street/ shops/ trails nearby, just a 20 min drive to Bar Harbor if you’re seeking those trails & sights. Owners are nearby if you need anything, grocery is 5 mins away. House is fully stocked with lots of towels, full kitchen, washer & dryer, fans, everything you need & more. We’ll stay here again if we’re lucky enough to get back to MDI!
Overall, We enjoyed our stay here! The house was very clean, all the furniture was nice, super cute inside. It was a great place to spread out at, especially after a week in hotels! The beds were comfortable. Good location for proximity to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Good communication with the owners. No AC, which is probably normal for the area. My only complaint was that many of the window screens need to be replaced. It got kind of hot and it was difficult to leave the windows open because many of the screens had holes or gaps in them and there were lots of mosquitoes. Could have used another fan too.. It was 85 degrees the day we got there so we were a little worried but luckily it cooled off after that. Overall a great stay and great owners.
Property was located in a setting that was quiet and secluded, but easy access and very near to all points of interest. All seven of us ranged from 4-70 had plenty of space. Recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the Acadia NP area!
This house was our perfect home to explore Acadia and Mount Desert Island!!! Prettily situated in the woods (we saw deer walk by in the morning) yet very close to cute downtown Southwest Harbor. It was a great jumping off point for many hikes around the west side of the island and ferry to Cranberry Islands. Also not too far from the eastern amenities, including Bar Harbor.
