About this property
Shipp's Landing-Cozy Secluded Retreat on the Water
Attention: This property is remote! It is 20mins from town on dirt roads and involves crossing a low water bridge. There is Wifi! Take it easy at this tranquil cabin getaway directly on the Spring River; ideal for trout/bass fishing, kayaking/tubing and relaxing. Indulge in the comfort of this off the beaten path retreat, in a relaxed rural community. The space features charmingly colorful wood cabin decor, and stunningly spacious back deck overlooking the water. Enjoy listening to the sounds of the river around the fire pit that comes stocked with complimentary wood, or show off your skills on the top deck with your choice of gas or charcoal grills!
Shipp’s Landing is a secluded property on the Spring River. Because of the direct water access, the cabin sits on stilts. There is one set of stairs leading from ground level to the home proper, and another group of stairs going down from the deck to the water. The cabin has 2bedrooms/1.5baths. The master bedroom is furnished w/a hybrid queen mattress, 55”TV and attached private half bath. The master room is decorated in cozy neutrals and vintage hunting/fishing photos. The second bedroom has twin bunks and a single daybed w/ a trundle. All the mattresses are upgraded hybrid or pillow tops. The bunk room is decorated in cheerful colors and hand painted local art. Just off the bunk room is the main bath w/ a sink, toilet and shower/tub combo. Across the hallway is the laundry. The living room is open concept, connecting the kitchen and dining, all with stunning views of the deck and water. The living room sofa pulls out into a full bed easily (it, and all other beds are brand new). The dining table sits 4, with 2 additional chairs at the kitchen island (although we prefer to eat most meals outside). The kitchen is fully stocked and has most appliances (gas stove/oven, fridge, microwave, coffee pot, etc). Outside we have a fire pit on the ground level (firewood provided), and a fully loaded deck up top with a sectional lounge and traditional table/chair set. The location is perfect for fishing, kayaking, or a good float tethered to the launch pad. Either way, the sound of the water will take you away!

We go to the river several times a year and this is by far the best place we’ve stayed at. The host was amazing and checked in with us regularly to make sure we were good and had zero issues. Will definitely be back.
Peaceful stay in a cabin on the river. Most relaxing stay if you are looking for peace and quiet. Cabin is very nice and well laid out with lots of room
The property host, Catelin, was excellent! The cabin is very nice and has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Our 4 day stay was centered around fishing. We caught several trout and smallmouth bass. We are already talking about staying and this oasis on the spring river again.
The owners were very kind and helpful from the very beginning. Being this was our first time ever staying at any kind of rented cabin/home, they made it easy. I'm very outdoorsy and enjoy seclusion and this fit the bill. While off the beaten path a little I appreciated that. It was for my wife and I's 26th Anniversary and I wanted to surprise her with a getaway but with one that I could enjoy as well. She was very pleased with my choice. The cabin is very cozy and quaint but still has a serene comfort with the gas log fireplace, or the large deck overlooking the river with the relaxing sound of the water. Steps leading right down to the waters edge allowed fishing although we didn't manage to catch anything. We found ourselves mostly listening to Praise & Worship music on the sound system, and playing games and enjoying each others conversation and time away together. The trains across the river might seem like an annoyance to some, but brought back memories of my wife and I's first house together when we lived in Nebraska that was much closer to the tracks than this cabin. We didn't make use of the kayaks provided as was concerned with the water temperature with the nights dipping into the 40's during our stay. All in all was a very memorable experience and would be delighted to stay with them again in the future!
Unfortunately, we arrived just after a LARGE rainstorm and wet Spring. The cabin is nestled 10-15 minutes deep into dirt backroads and we were blocked by a massively flooding creek that prevented us from reaching the cabin. I contacted the host(Caitlyn) that we wouldn’t be able to reach the cabin that day. She immediately responded and promptly refunded us for the night AND refunded us for an ADDITIONAL night. I genuinely felt she understood the situation we were in with 3 little kids and took every step she could to rectify the situation and give us a positive outcome. She went above and beyond on this one.
Once reaching the cabin the following day, it was everything I expected and more. I’m more familiar w/ cabins on VRBO that are stripped down rentals with nothing inside. No washer/dryer, fire pits or wood, or outdoor ‘toys’. This cabin is the exact opposite of that. It felt more like staying at a cabin of an immediate family member or close friend. They provided us access to everything they outfitted the cabin with for themselves. I cannot not express my gratitude enough for this feature and is the top reason why I will return as often as I can. Thanks for the great week Caitlyn!
Pros
- Empathetic and responsive host
- Clean and great ‘cabin’ feel. AWESOME deck and views.
- Well stocked house (tubes, kayaks, firewood, grills, washer/dryer)
- Creek and river access
- Safe and clean neighborhood community
- Fiber with WIFI
My family and I have been going to Spring River for our Annual Labor Day trip for over 20 years. We've always rented cabins on the water from local outfitters. This year, we changed it up...AND SO GLAD WE DID! The place is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The kids got out and played in the river while the adults relaxed on the AMAZING deck. I can't say enough about the communication with the owner beginning to end. We will definitely be back!
