Unwind at this historic cabin on the river at Camp Miramichee Falls in Hardy, AR. This original stone cabin was built in 1940, used by the Zonta Foundation, then by YWCA Camp Miramichee until 1979. Our "Woody Cabin" stay was nothing short of fabulous! The cabin is the most unique property we have ever rented...beautiful, cozy, & rich in history. The bed was dreamy & there were multiple spots to curl up & read or nap. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook all of our meals! The location is gorgeous...we thoroughly enjoyed kayaking the Spring River! Lynn & Jay are the consummate hosts...they thought of everything & communication was the best we have ever experienced. We enjoyed walking around downtown Hardy, hiking at Grand Gulf State Park, & hanging out in Mammoth Springs one day. There are several grocery stores handy & we enjoyed a couple of the local restaurants. The property was spotless & well-appointed. Truly cannot say enough good things! Don't miss this one!
The cabin at Miramichee Falls was so beautiful. We loved the old stone walls and floor. Such a beautiful peaceful place to spend relaxing by the creek. (The burn ban prevented us from having a fire BUT we were still able to really enjoy our time away on deck and swing by the creek). Super comfy bed too!! The kitchen had everything we needed. And we loved the big full fridge. We floated the South Fork of the Spring River. Rocky’s crew at Spring River Camp & Canoe picked us up right at our cabin!!!! They drove us up river about 5 miles so we could float back to our cabin. THAT WAS SO AWESOME!!! Call them for your kayaking experience!! The South Fork was completely beautiful. The most fun river I’ve ever kayaked - rocks to traverse around, 3-4 little waterfalls to go down, Ford bridges to go under, and big slow-flowing lazy water to sit back and relax. We had an awesome time!! We highly recommend Lynn & Jay’s stone cabins at Miramichee Falls AND the Spring River Camp & Canoe!!
What a beautiful and well-equipped property the “Woody” cabin is! We thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful and relaxing stay. We loved sitting in the screened-in porch, listening to the rushing river and feeling the breeze blow through the trees. We also enjoyed sitting in the swing by the river. The living room is cozy with a large tv for watching a show, and the bed was very comfortable. We were truly impressed with how well-preserved this historic property is, and Lynn and Jay keep it immaculate. They are superior hosts in every way. We definitely want to return to this property, and we would highly recommend it to others.

About the host
Hosted by Catherine Lynn Horton
We are new to VRBO. But, we are not new to hosting. My husband and I started hosting in 2017. We love this area. I grew up going to summer camp in Hardy, Ark. I learned to swim and canoe in the river and made life-long friendships there. I have pursued the mountains, deserts, and all types of water over the years. Yet, as an adult, this area called me back. Now I have the chance to share it all and nothing makes me happier. Reconnect with nature and the personal touches of this small town.
Why they chose this property
In 1916, Camp Miramichee was founded on the banks of the South Fork of the Spring River in Hardy, Arkansas. This stone cabin was built in 1940, used by the Zonta Foundation and by YWCA Camp Miramichee until 1979, when the camp moved upstream. Being a Camp Miramichee camper myself, I was drawn back to the area as an adult. I met and married my husband who was living at the old camp. In 2019, we acquired and renovated some of the original Miramichee stone cabins. While preserving as much of the camp history as we could, we added modern creature comforts to the original cabin experience. We offer 2 cabins on the river and 3 cabins on a wooded hillside for rent here at Camp Miramichee Falls. My husband and I also live on the grounds of the original Camp Miramichee and are stewards of the land. We love and honor its history and do our best to preserve and share it.
What makes this property unique
River - river - river! This is one of the prettiest sections of the Southfork River. It joins the Spring River about a mile downstream. Beautiful Miramichee Falls just downstream from the cabin. The river is (usually!) the perfect depth to put a chair in the river and just sit and let stress melt away. It is also a good depth and the current is good for floating and swimming. The river is shallow right in front of the cabin but has deeper areas close by. History of the camp (YWCA Camp Miramichee). We have LOTS of photos from 1920 to current day, documenting the history. Craftsmanship of this historic cabin built in 1940 (stone walls and floors, and original wood panelling). Fireplace for cozy winter nights. Kayaks for use around the cabin area. The private park across the river has horses that roam freely and are fun to watch.
