The weekend exceeded our expectations ❤️ We loved the quaintness of the home. It was exactly what we were needing- getting back in tune with nature and ourselves.
Super VRBO in Downtown Kerrville and close to everything. The Owner, Barb, and her dog are welcoming and helpful. Very quiet and the back yard leads to a walking trail from the park.
The owner was very welcoming and helpful. The little cottage was very cute and clean. The walk to the Gaudelupe was quite charming and we saw some beautiful birds and deer.
Wonderful little 1940’s bungalow.
Great kitchen and appreciated the nice outdoor grill.
Woke up to birds singing ❤️
Enjoyed our walks down to the river and seeing deer in the woods.
Barb was a wonderful host! THANK YOU!
Barb and Jasper are so welcoming. Beautiful VRBO close to everything. The house is well equipped for cooking with all the necessities. Very comfortable bedroom and beautiful shower. The outside three tiered patio is breath taking and backs up to the walking trail. A true gem!
The host and her dog were very friendly. You are very close to the river and can take a walk in the woods from your back door, or just watch deer and hummingbirds pass by. It is pretty small so I probably would only book for 2 with maybe a kid or two in sleeping bags. Please be aware that the back yard is on a steep hill toward the river.
The cabin is very cozy and generally comfortable. The location of the property is outstanding, on a wooded lot that fronts on the river. It's perfectly quiet and gorgeous. The kitchen was well-appointed and easy to cook in. The bathroom is small but well laid out and convenient. Our only minor complaint was that the bed was very old and needed to be replaced. When we mentioned this to the host, she was immediately understanding and said she would invest in something new soon. The host was out of this world! Friendly, generous with her time without being obtrusive, and always available to answer a question or make a helpful suggestion. We also found her great fun to hang out with. We would DEFINITELY stay here again when we're back in Kerrville.
The Blue Heron Cottage was the perfect place to stay for us. The peaceful backyard was the best place to begin my day with a cup of coffee. The amenities were exactly what we needed.
What an incredible place and location. The hike to the river is wonderful. And from there you can hike for miles. Although I tried fishing I didn't catch anything. Didn't matter because we came prepared with HEB trout fillets and some TX wine. The outdoor grill was great. The pictures don't do the place justice - the place is very clean and has everything. Can't say enough about it - just that I hope it's not booked when we want to come back.
The "Bird's Nest" cottage was clean, cozy and outfitted with any possible required supply. Barbara was easy to work with, attentive, very responsive and provided suggestions about the local area. The setting was nice with a couple of outdoor seating spots overlooking the slope to the river and a good spot for viewing deer and a variety of birds. We would highly recommend this location and would consider staying her again in the future!
I went with my adult daughter and appreciated the fold out sofa in the living room. Barbara didn’t forget any detail - we were comfortable and conveniently located to the river trail, Louise Hayes, and downtown. Would definitely stay again.
The highlight of the cottage is the back porch with birds, deer and other critters going about their day. Inside is clean and creative. It’s probably best for a couple or one person because the pull out means one person has less sleep comfort. But it was a wonderful getaway, with a wonderful host!
We enjoyed our stay at The Bird’s Nest. This is a nice little historic bungalow that is a few minutes drive from downtown Kerrville. The landscaping is immaculate and taking time to sit in the backyard was wonderfully relaxing. You are also very close to the Kerrville River Trail on the Guadalupe River. However, if you are tall, this may not be the bungalow for you. A short bed, short shower and short door to the bathroom made for some interesting situations. An older loveseat was the only semi-comfortable seating in the house. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and enjoyed speaking with the owner. We did have to cut our stay short to only one night due to other engagements.
Back of property incorporates the nature preserve of the Guadalupe River. Great for exploring the river access under the watchful gaze of the local deer population. Paved trail lined with Cypress and Century old Oaks that starts at your front door. Nice well lit neighborhood with walkers, joggers and bikers that frequent the area. Bed was very comfortable. Owner has done an amazing job of resurrecting the property to modern standards but has retained much of the original construction charm.
This place was totally awesome. Me and my fiancé loved it here. This might be a good retirement place in the future. Would definitely stay here again. Wish I could stay longer...

I own a massage therapy office that is located between the two cottages. I am the self-proclaimed matriarch of massage therapy in Kerrville, as I was the first one here 20 years ago. Before becoming a massage therapist, I worked in construction and have subsequently rebuilt/renovated this property myself. As a riverfront property owner, I feel a strong sense of stewardship in maintaining the integrity of the land and the River.
Why they chose this property
I was fortunate to have purchased this riverfront property, 20 years ago, for my home. In 1997, I bought an historic building across the street, renovated it and it became my home. The 'Bird's Nest Guest Cottages' were renovated starting in November '08 and completed in May '09.
What makes this property unique
My guests have described how wonderful it is to be right in town, while at the same time having the peace, quiet and solitude of the country when you're out back. Breakfast items provided include coffee pot, juice, yogurt and pastries.
