We had the best and most relaxing couple of days here! The deer roamed the back of the property throughout the day and the screened in porch is heavenly! The entire house is decorated beautifully and the attention to little details is wonderful! The kitchen was perfect for meals with the family! Everything was great and we will absolutely be back!
Absolutely great place to stay. Owners were very responsive when we reach out about the oven. No complaints and definitely got a workout climbing up and down the steps to get to the lake. Always a fish on the hook which was fun for the kids.
The Glacier Lake Haus is exactly as pictured. Open concept kitchen attached to the family room. The primary Bedroom (Queen Bed-very comfy) is off of the family room as is the primary bathroom which is very large with a very roomy shower. The home is well stocked with everything you might need and then some. There ia a stairwell that brings you to the lower level walk out area. There you will find 2 Bedrooms which sleeps four and a pull-out couch that comfortably sleeps two more. Our grandsons (7 & 9) loved sleeping there because there is a large screened TV on the wall. They were so tired from all the daily activities-there was very little screen time thankfully!!!!My husband and I (as well as our two adult daughters and their husbands) really enjoyed our coffee talk time and cocktail time on the amazing screened in porch. The view to the lake is just breathtaking!!!!We all agreed that the ZEN porch is missed very much.We also enjoyed having a few bonfires where there are four double benches and a very generous supply of wood readily available. The only problem is that the week just flew by too fast.....We can't wait to return again soon.Thank you Megan & Peter as you are both very lovely and gracious hosts!!!!
If you want to stay outside of the waterpark craziness and enjoy a peaceful setting, this place is it! So much charm and thoughtfulness put into making this a great stay! Loved the lake recreational activities as a bonus. The outside decks and fire pit were a big hit. Would definitely stay again!
Excellent place for catching up with family. Quiet, private rustic setting with modern amenities, highly recommend glacier lake haus, wonderful getaway weekend
This house was as advertised. It did seem to get a little small with 8 of us; we ranged in age from 16-47. There were a lot of areas to hang out in but none that really fit all of us easily. I LOVED the different decks & porch areas. There is literally something for everyone here: hammocks, games, puzzles, kayaks, etc. The owners thought of everything. It was nice to be able to prepare food & cook with all of the provided dishes. Mosquitos were a problem so they chased us inside quite a few times. The house is a bit from all of the action in the Dells.
The owners were great! They responded quickly & continued to answer questions after we checked in.
Perfect Cabin Get-A-Way Without the Northwoods Drive!
We had a FANTASTIC experience at Glacier Lake Haus - it was the perfect cabin for our family of 5 (including 3 teenagers) to use for a quick weekend away to reconnect during a cold & snowy spring break week 2023. Meticulously clean, equipped with all the modern elements that makes life easy today, and filled with warm, comfy, thoughtful touches and interesting knick knacks too. It was also surprisingly private considering its location on a small yet pretty lake. Nestled at the top of a (steep!) bluff on a wooded lot with waterfront access, we truly felt "away from it all" without having to drive 4+ hours to northern WI. The hosts were great communicators, friendly, and easy to connect with to finalize details.
We'd absolutely recommend this location and hope to come back during the summer months to fully enjoy the wonderful screened in porch and the lakefront! 5 STARS!
The cabin was great for our family vacation. We took our son's family along, so there was a total of six people; my husband and myself, our son, his wife, and theirtwo children ages 9 and 7. They also brought their small Yorkie.
There are so many fun activities! The children especially enjoyed the outdoor lake; they learned to kayak, stand on an inflatable stand up board, and used the pedal boat and caught MANY fish. The weather was perfect, so we were at the lake every single day of our stay.
Inside we also played cards, listened to 70s vinyl records, and the children enjoyed playing the games.
With plenty of room to spread out, our son's family stayed downstairs, and we took the upstairs bedroom. Each family had their own bathroom with shower.
The kitchen had all the needed pots, pans, plates and utensils. However, the salt, pepper, and other assorted spices left on the counter were completely covered in grease. Perhaps someone left them too close to the stove while cooking. Nevertheless, they should be checked for cleanliness before check-in. Other places we have stayed have also offered the basic condiments such as ketchup and mustard. We bought our own and left them behind for others to use.
There were some small beetles which were frequently found crawling on the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom walls. While we know that this cabin is in the woods, perhaps installing a Zevo light or something like that to deter them would be helpful.
Path down to the lake is VERY steep!
The property was clean and easy to find, located in a comfortable, quiet neighborhood. Facilities, including a comfortable reading chair and light (so rarely found in a rental) and actual wall decorations (another common cost saving) made it homey. Lake is no wake so good for the paddle devices provided, and very clean. But study the pictures of the view of the lake carefully because the stairs go only half way to the lake. There are between 165-172 steps down to/up from the lake, which makes it a trek. However, the day we checked out the cleaning crew was told to come at 10 but the checkout instructions on the refrigerator said 11, so a bit awkward. Most important, and something that must be addressed by the owners, the parking area for the cabin has two tree stumps cut down low in the grassy growth. In doing a Y turn in the driveway I ran over an unseen stump and did $2100 worth of damage to my vehicle. The stumps should be ground down - or at the very least marked with fluorescent tree marking paint and/or utility red/orange/yellow pin flags. The same should be done for the one/two inch stumps on or near the trail to the lake. A simple solution that we used on our roads and trails on our managed forest land (MFL). Not happy with the damage to our car and unexpected expense incurred with a family get together. Note: ceiling fans should be turned counter-clockwise in summer.
The property was quiet, peaceful, and sufficiently isolated from neighbors. Some of this may have to do with the time of year , but the trees on the property also serve to separate the house from the rest of the world. We brought one small dog and he loved the environment.
Kitchen is fully equipped and the house has many nice decorative touches and amenities
We enjoyed the lake, having a fire, and many other indoor and outdoor activities! (45min.Devils Lake state park,35min Mirror lake state park.30 min Wisconsin Dells )We will hopefully be back again next year.
