This is a superb place to stay in South Bend, right across the street from Seitz Park on the St Joseph River. The view from the balcony includes the lighted bridge and the colorful light poles in the park, as well as the waterfall on the river, and if you’re lucky, fireworks from Four Winds Field (home of the South Bend Cubs). It is within easy walking distance of several restaurants, including Barnaby’s which is a family favorite. The unit itself is a 3 story condo. The basement has a foosball table, TV and bunk beds. We didn’t use the basement at all except to hang out during a brief tornado warning. The street level has one bedroom and a full bath. It is accessed through the garage or the front door. The front of the house has a small gated garden area and a few steps up to the front door. The top level has one very large bedroom with TV, a spacious bath, laundry room, well equipped kitchen, and large living area with TV. The balcony is accessed from this level. The balcony has a grill (not used) and patio table and chairs. With all these levels, navigating the stairs to transport luggage and groceries could be a daunting task. Fear not, for there is an elevator in this unit to help with the heavy lifting. For these old legs, it was a necessary luxury. For this old brain, it took a minute to figure out how to use it, but it wasn’t long before we were old pros. All in all, this was an excellent rental and one of our best VRBO experiences.
