Originally a dude ranch, Karst Camp was established in 1901 by Pete Karst. It was the gateway to Yellowstone National Park for early tourists. The camp, known as Karst Stage Stop Inn, saw up to 600 tourists per summer with 25 guests cabins. In 1937, Pete built a towrope for skiers, which has since vanished, as well as a bar and brothel for local miners. Visitors can imagine the rugged conditions both residents and tourists must have had to endure to appreciate Yellowstone Country 100 years ago.
In the summer, you are just minutes from exceptional fly fishing, river rafting, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, ziplining and more. Plus, the West entrance of Yellowstone National Park is only about 45 minutes away while following the historic HWY 191 along the scenic Gallatin River. Don't miss the free concerts, farmer's markets, and weekly special events throughout the summer!

Quaint cabin that was 20 feet from of the river. We came to do a little trout fishing, recharge and relax, sit outside in the evening without bugs and take in the food and people of Big Sky. Mission accomplished! True mountain vacation!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cabin was nice and perfect for 2 people. I did catch fish right behind the cabin but the water was a little fast. There is a bridge about a mile towards Big Sky on the right side of the road, that has great fishing and the river widens a bit and has some nice water! Parachute Adam’s best dry fly ever!
This is a great home for a couple people who love to fly fish. Right on the water.
The host was fantastic. They put me into a River guide and he was amazing as well.
This was a trip to remember forever
Thanks for your hospitality!

I am so happy that you had a memorable fishing trip. We hope you can come back to visit us again!
Two Night Stay in JuneThe cabin is perfect for fly fishing and right on the Gallatin river. Closer to a busy highway, so keep an eye on kids and dogs. Great place to relax and enjoy meals together. Will return. Note: The Wi-Fi is very spotty and only worked a few times, even after re-setting. You can get good service by Big Sky. Bring extra forks and spoons. Only 1 fork and 2 small spoons in the kitchen. Had to run to the store to buy plastic silverware. Everything else in the kitchen was stocked.

Thank you for your thoughtful review! We're so glad to hear the cabin was a great spot for fly fishing and relaxing by the river. We appreciate the heads-up about the proximity to the highway and the note on keeping an eye on little ones and pets. Your feedback on the Wi-Fi and kitchen utensils is incredibly helpful—we’ll be sure to address both to improve the experience for future guests. We’re happy to hear you’d like to return and would love to welcome you back for another peaceful stay on the Gallatin!
Overall it was a good place to stay! A few notes to point out. The ceiling fan looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time, maybe years, yikes! So we made sure to leave that off the time we stayed. The bed in the bedroom was not very comfortable so we stayed up in the loft area and enjoyed the coziness up there. The bathroom was clean, bed linens/sheets and towels were all clean, the kitchen area was clean as well as the appliances and the cookware. We did not use the grill as it was questionable on its cleanliness, and the wire brush to clean it wouldn’t have helped much. Coffee maker, (not a keurig) so make sure to bring coffee grounds!
We would stay again but maybe not so many nights (we stayed 3), it seems best for just an over night spot, because it is small. Bonus, it’s on the river with beautiful views.

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the beautiful views and found the bathroom, linens, and kitchen clean. We apologize for the issues with the ceiling fan and the bed comfort in the bedroom. We'll address these concerns to improve our guests' experience. Thank you for the note about the grill and coffee maker; we will ensure these are taken care of for future stays. We appreciate your comments and hope to welcome you back for a shorter stay next time. Best, Summer V. Guest Service Manager
