Great, safe location. Easy walk or bike ride to the water front and the ferry boat to Cumberland Island. The kitchen was well stocked except no can opener! Could have used a good dusting ( the reason for 4 review) but everything else was good. We would definitely stay again!

Never met the host, but that's OK.2 problems Mold in the shower The water stank so bad of sulfur that it was unusable. We had to buy bottled water for everything from bathing to dishwashing to cooking.
Lovely cottage that was perfect for two of us during a short stop at St Marys. The hosts were very communicative and make the most of the space, with a very comfortable and welcoming bed, well-appointed kitchen and thoughtful laundry area with detergent and even makeup cloths and shower caps. Just bring your own shampoo and shower gel -- everything else you could possibly need is provided. You can walk to a wonderful market, great restaurants -- our favorite was The Firefly (Mexican cantina) with an amazing bartender. There's a lot of history within walking distance, too, so plenty to keep busy if you want to get outside and explore. You also can easily relax inside or outside where chilll. Would definitely stay again if we're ever in the area again.
We had a lovely stay. The house was great and was fully equipped for all of our needs. It was very clean too. Nice short walk to downtown Kraken Coffee for our breakfast. Will definitely be back. Thanks!
Property was clean, well stocked with basic supplies and within close distance to the historic St Mary’s area. This is a great little place for anyone to occupy for short or long term stays in the St Mary’s area
There was adequate space and sleeping available for three adults for 5 days during my stay and plenty of quiet alone time
This is our second time staying in this cute cottage, and we love it. Clean, well stocked and friendly host. Just as advertised and within walking distance to the quaint town of St. Mary’s. We look forward to staying here again!

Glad you enjoyed your stay!! Thank you for the feedback - duly noted. Sorry the mattress didn't meet your expectations. Most all of our guests have complemented the mattress and actually speak of how comfortable it is, so I guess it just depends on the person's individual preference.
Perfect. Cozy. Enough room for a small family Christmas Eve party.
The only thing missing is a soaking tub.
Great neighborhood. Well appointed.
Squirrels in the yard.

We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, Jackie! We loved hosting you and your family and hope to host you again. Unit C, where you stayed, does just have a walk-in shower. Unit A, the downstairs unit of the main house, and unit B, the upstairs unit of the main house, both have soaking tubs, if that is a preference you have if you return. We certainly hope you do!
This is a charming, very clean, very well organized, very well maintained little cottage. I booked it for an overnight stay when I unexpectedly needed to get from upper South Carolina to lower Florida very quickly. The cottage welcomed me with plenty of space, labels on all the switches, and very clear, easy to follow instructions from the hosts.
The huge yard and view of the coast are delightful.
The next time I have to make this trip, I hope it is available.
We own and manage 3 vacation rentals on the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC THE POSITIVES OF THIS RENTAL: 1.The hone was clean, well decorated, and in a very convenient location. The furnure was comfortable but dated. The king bed was very comfortable. The owner was easily connected when the door lock system did not work using the directions provided on the listing info. Owner provided correct directions and problem solved.THE NEGATIVES: 1.The shower door needs repair or replacement. The track and wheel system is broken and door is loose ,dangerous and provides no fall prevention.2. The drain in bath sink is partially plugged.3. The dishwasher runs on only one cycle.4. The refrigerator works but is old and outdated.5. One burner element on stove was not working. We were able to get element reconnected but stove needs service.6. The garbage disposal does not work. When called current owner said unit has been broken for a month, but he elected not to repair or replace since home was currently offered for sale. This was a relatively major inconvenience, if much cooking is expected. The listing did not disclose the non functional garbage disposal.6. The kitchen is well stocked but tools and utensils are of poor quality. The knives are cheap and unsharpened. Have to try 4 different knives before finding one that barely was able to cut raw onions or tomatoes. If you plan to cook during your stay, bring your own knife.Would book again but check other options before
We were so happy with our stay at the quiet and light-filled cottage - its lovely setting in Historic St. Marys downtown was perfect. The welcome book provided restaurant and shopping suggestions along with a walking guide for the town's points of interest. The full kitchen was neat, clean and had everything we needed for cooking; the king bed was extra comfy for sleeping along with an efficient air conditioner and ceiling fans to keep things cool. The living room felt like a garden room with windows on three sides and morning light streaming in. Set back from the street, the cottage feels very private and is surrounded by beautiful green lawn and trees. Our hosts responded to our questions promptly. We look forward to our next stay here!

Upsetting
I would never rent this VBRO again. Our first night there I received a message from the owner wanting a maintenance person to check the thermostat at 9 am the next morning. Air was working fine we were comfortable. I told him we had plans shortly after 9sm. He sent an email which I didn’t see and said the maintenance person had access. I never gave my permission for anyone to come in. He did come in while we’re gone. On my way home from our stay I received an email and a voicemail from the owner stating her maid found a stain on the comforter. I did not see a stain. We left the house in very good condition I called her back. She demanded $30 for the comforter replacement. She said she had reported me to VBRO. I felt bullied. After reflecting I remembered I had paid a cleaning fee and a damage fee. She should have washed the comforter and if the so called stain didn’t come out call the damage insurance company, not me The owner had placed a $30 request on my credit card. She did rescind it but I had received a notice of overdue payment of the $30 The sister trip where we should have been reflecting on the fun we had ended up being a completely upsetting problem over $30 I have never been repeatedly emailed, called, and texted from an owner before.

Belinda’s description is exaggerated and mostly incorrect, which is unfortunate. She was asked about the maintenance guy coming in to check the thermostat. She mentioned they had plans to be gone and was told they did not have to stay because the maintenance man had a maintenance code to enter but they could be there if they wanted to. She never said she did not want him to come or we would not have allowed him in. We could have rescheduled but she never communicated she had a problem with him coming in. We always respect guests in this way.
I never demanded $30 from her. As a courtesy, I messaged Belinda ONCE (not repeatedly) first through VRBO about the stained comforter and when I didn’t hear back by the end of that day, I called her ONCE (again NOT repeatedly as Belinda claims) and explained what my maid had discovered and told her that it would cost $30 to buy a duvet cover to put over the stained comforter. I asked her if she would be willing to pay for it. She insisted there was no way they had made the stain. I took her at her word, told her I was and told her I would take the $30 charge request away as soon as she and I hung up. I never bullied her. I was very calm and respectful, and she immediately started yelling at me and raising her voice. I tried to calm her down by explaining to her that I was calling her out of courtesy, and that some owners would just report her directly to VRBO (but I had not) and give her a bad review as a guest. We do not operate that way and instead, I was calling her to explain the situation, and giving her an opportunity to explain or to pay. I hung up from my phone call with her, feeling good about the situation as Belinda had calmed down, and we both agreed I would not be requesting her to pay because I was taking her at her word, and very clearly explained this to her. I immediately removed the $30 charge, and proceeded to give her a good review, even though my maid had discovered a stain on the comforter when cleaning immediately after Belinda’s stay I also still gave her 5 stars for communication even though on the phone she expressed being upset over the maintenance situation, but had never communicated this when she had an opportunity during her stay. This shows how gracious, kind, and accommodating we are willing to be.
We would not rent to her again due to this unfortunate exaggeration and reaction to the situation when we went above and beyond to be kind, respectful AND give her the benefit of the doubt. I also gave her the benefit of the doubt and took her at her word, even though we were left with a soiled comforter that would require extra cleaning.
The fact that all of our other reviews are 5 stars and Belinda gave us just 1 star shows how unreasonable and what an exaggerator she is. She told me on the phone she and her sisters had a lovely trip & enjoyed the cottage. She’s clearly just angry over the dirty comforter she was respectfully notified of that was discovered immediately after her stay. This is, sadly, a retaliation review. Any other VRBO owners seeing this, be aware!
This was the perfect cottage for a long weekend for my husband and me in St. Mary’s. The house is super clean, comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with all that you will need. We loved the location, as it is within walking distance to the adorable town of St. Mary’s. We hope to return soon.
