"Little Paradise" on a peninsula right by the sea!

Bolthole Cottage

is the small, cozy side house of "Villa Bolthole" on the top point of the densely overgrown rocky peninsula right by the sea.

As a simple wooden construction, the cottage blends in perfectly with the natural surroundings. 2 bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, living / dining room and a covered veranda, can comfortably accommodate 4 people. The brightly painted rooms are cozy and practical. The first morning coffee or afternoon tea can be prepared in the small kitchen.
A tried and tested ventilation device ensures fresh air at all times; no air conditioning is necessary in this house. Fans on the ceiling of the rooms also provide pleasant cooling. The stylish interior is adapted to the simple architecture and yet the "Cottage Bolthole" is a first-class accommodation in the abundance of its properties and equipment.
From the veranda, guests enjoy a wonderful view of their own sandy beach and the open sea.
Bathing is possible either on the sandy beach or from the jetty.

The cottage can be rented together with the villa (apartment no. 2870151) or separately; it is equally suitable for short and long vacations. It can also be rented for several weeks or months.

Beautiful Location

Great location by the beach and the pool was great. The cottage was perfect for my mother and my partner and I. I can't recommend this little hidden gem enough!

Excellent stay!

Amazing property with stunning views. Friendly and helpful staff. With the windows open and fans on kept it nice and cool during the day and nights. Property is well kept and very private, having its own beach was a big bonus with the family. Would recommend staying here

Perfection

We stayed with our 19 year old adult kid and 10 year old. We snorkeled off the private beach and the dock. Saw plenty of sea life. The accommodations were perfect and the food prepared by Donna was some of the best we’d had here. Definitely wish we stayed here longer.

Wonderful Vacation

My friend and I had the best vacation at Daniel's cottage! Before we arrived, Daniel was very communicative and answered all of our questions. The home, landscaping and private beach were so beautiful, peaceful and relaxing, and had everything we needed. The staff was so kind, helpful and attentive. We definitely plan to go back!

Indeed a little slice of Paradise!

Our stay at Bolthole cottage was very special. Right there on the water, listening to the waves and mesmerized by the glorious colors of the sea, we were indeed in Paradise. Delicious meals were prepared for us, and the property manager Yvonne bent over backwards to make us comfortable and guide us. We will return!

My New Happy Place

If you seek peace, this is the spot. If you want a Sandals experience, look elsewhere. Great for writers, artists and anyone one who wants to vacation for complete relaxation.

It WAS paradise!

We loved this place! At first we thought it was too small, but once we settled in we realized it was Perfect! It was very clean and neat, and the cook and night guard were wonderful people! It was really like a paradise, and I would love to come back!! The only things I would improve upon are (1) make sure that the wifi login info is correct; (2) provide more flexibility with the use of the pool; (3) make sure there is a knife and pair of scissors in the kitchen drawer.Otherwise, it was absolutely perfect. Next time we will stay a bit longer so that we can explore the town more and to just have more time to chill.

An absolute delight

The location is perfect in Jamaica. Right by the ocean, in the middle of so many natural wonders. The staff taking care of the property and guests are 100% pure Jamaican kindness. The house has that Caribbean cachet that allows you to just fall back and be transported in another world. I never go back to a place twice but this will be the exception. The owner is a true gentleman. Heaven on earth!

The most beautiful place I’ve ever seen

This little slice of heaven really was a treat! My partner and I stayed in the cottage for a week and got to experience the very best Portland has to offer! The property itself is so gorgeous and the constant sound of the sea made for a very peaceful morning coffee and sleep at night. The staff only adds to the experience preparing delicious meals, being so pleasant every morning, and accommodating all the guests needs. (We arrived very late and the security guard anticipated our arrival and gave a warm welcome). The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was as the furniture. The mattress was quite uncomfortable as were the lounge chairs on the patio which were quite deflated.

Amazing place! Highly recommended- With a small catch

This place was BEAUTIFUL, I would love to stay there again. Some things should be noted however: Services and amenities are listed and give you the assumption that they are fee to use. This is not entirely the case. For example- washing machine and kayak/canoe are listed is the property description. Which is true, they are there. However, the kayak was $20 for the whole day, which isn't a bad price, but we didn't assume we would have to pay. Additional, the washing machine, this was the biggest surprise. At a whopping $25 PER LOAD one of the staff will clean the clothes for you. We found this to be absolutely ridiculous and decided to just stink a little rather than spending 50- 100$ cleaning our stuff. And finally, once we received our check in PDF file with additional information, we were instructed to tip all of the workers on the premises before departure. 10-15% of the total cost of the booking. Now, the staff was very nice and we appreciate all they did to make our stay enjoyable and safe, however, if this is the standard you wish to create for your staff, I recommend simply increasing the amount per night and paying your staff more. It should not be the guests responsibility. Especially if we did not utilise all the staff while we were there. For example- the chef or housekeeping. With all that said, I would still come back and recommend this place to anyone with eyes, it was STUNNING.

Weekend get away

We came to stay at Bolt Hole Cottage because we love Portland. We have stayed at several different homes in both Goblin Hill and San San in the past. The plus side of this is being right at the ocean side. The dock and the pool were awesome to utilize. I am a huge fan of the ocean, but not beach grass. The area you can swim in off the dock is small and the same with the beach area. It’s shallow and you are completely surrounded by beach grass. There were also people that invaded our private dock area and would not leave. The coast guard luckily showed up and made them leave, at which point they started yelling at us that we called the coast guard on them and basically that this wouldn’t be the end of this. Nothing did happen after that but they did sit outside the gate for several hours after they were kicked off the private property. Steve the gardener and Dwight the night security were wonderful and helpful. Donna the housemaid and cook was a little difficult to understand and honestly this worked much different than other places we stayed. We only rented the cottage as we only had two people in our group. The little two burner hotplate in the kitchen didn’t work very well. When we explained this to Donna she offered that we could use the main kitchen to cook. What we didn’t realize was that we would have to wait until she arrived at 9am to cook our breakfast. Being early risers at 5:30-6am that was very late for us to wait to eat and start our day. She also left by 6pm so we had to rush back to the house so that we could get our dinner cooked before she locked up and left for the day. It wasn’t great to have to schedule our day around her schedule. If you aren’t a fan of the heat at night beware. The ceiling fan in the bedroom only ran on low speed and didn’t create much cooling effect. The cottage is very hot and hard to sleep in at night. The king bed is two twin beds pushed together, very hard and uncomfortable. While we enjoyed the beautiful property itself our stay here just didn’t match up with the many other wonderful experiences we have had staying in the Portland Area. In the evening the sound of the ocean is amazing and the view second to none, but you also deal with the sound of the traffic 24-7. We were grateful for our time away and we actually got engaged on the little private beach on the property. I would recommend this property but would suggest just renting the main house as the cottage was under par.

Phänomenal

Das Cottage befindet sich auf dem Grundstück "Bolthole". Die Sicht aus dem Schlafzimmer und von der Terrasse auf das weite Meer ist einfach nur schön. Die Einrichtung ist geschmackvoll und man fühlt sich sofort wohl. Von den Mitarbeitenden wurden wir sehr verwöhnt. Wir haben uns sehr gut erholt und kommen wieder!

Ein Traum wird Wahr

Noch besser als beworben. Wir waren mit 11 Personen da. Die Räumlichkeiten sind sehr liebevoll und mit viel Platz eingerichtet. Das Personal ist super nett und kümmert sich um alles. Die Zwei Damen kümmern sich um das leibliche Wohl um die Wäsche und halten alles in Schuss. Der Gärtner verwöhnt einen mit frischen Kokosnüssen und der Nachtwächter Zieht mit einen durch das nächtliche Port Antonio. Einfach nur genial. Der Vermieter hat im Vorfeld schon alles wie gewünscht organisiert. Wir wurden vom Flughafen abgeholt und "zuhause" standen die Mietwagen schon bereit. Ausflüge wurden vorab vom Besitzer oder vor Ort von der Managerin organisiert. Danke es war mein schönster Urlaub den ich bis jetzt hatte.

Zuhause in Jamaica

Das Cottage ist wunderbar gelegen und man geniesst eine hohe Privatsphäre. Die luxuriöse Ausstattung und die geschmackvolle Einrichtung lassen keine Wünsche offen. Entspannende Stunden auf der schönen Veranda oder am eigenen kleine Sandstrand lassen die Hektik des Alltags schnell vergessen. Die Angestellten sind stets freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. In Bolthole fühlt man sich sofort zuhause. Wir genossen wunderbare und sehr erholsame Ferien, von denen wir viele schöne Erinnerungen mit nach Hause nahmen. Rilkes Zitat ‚Hiersein ist herrlich‘ muss seinen Ursprung in Bolthole haben!
