The Space:
Snow‑kissed mornings drift through tall windows, filling the cabin with crisp mountain light while the scent of pine lingers in the air. Evenings glow under string lights on the deck, the pellet stove crackles inside, and the hot tub steams against a backdrop of quiet woods. You can unwind with a mug of coffee on the porch, then gather around the fire pit for s’mores as the stars emerge. This mountain retreat invites you to slow down, reconnect, and let the rhythm of the season set the pace.

Bathrooms
A newly renovated full bathroom and an additional half bath upstairs serve guests. Bathroom essentials are supplied for convenience.
Kitchen & dining
The fully equipped kitchen provides ample counter space and seating for shared meals, warm drinks, or a relaxed breakfast before heading out. A Smart TV and reliable Wi‑Fi support movie nights and video calls, though speeds may vary due to the remote location.
Outdoor spaces
The large deck, accented with string lighting, offers a scenic spot for fresh air and sunrise coffee. A hot tub remains inviting in colder weather, letting you soak while steam rises into the night. A fire pit with surrounding seating encourages evenings of storytelling and roasting s’mores. The grassy backyard includes a children’s play area and space for outdoor games when the weather permits; it is not fully fenced.
Location
Nestled in Mount Jackson, the cabin is a short drive from the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, where scenic hikes showcase seasonal beauty. Bryce Resort lies about twenty minutes away, offering winter sports in the colder months and warmer‑weather recreation in other seasons, along with dining and local shops.
Perfect for
Families, friends, and small groups seeking a pet‑friendly mountain escape will find room to spread out and relax. Dogs are welcome; cats are not allowed due to allergies. Whether you gather around the pellet stove, soak in the hot tub on a chilly evening, or explore the surrounding forest, the cabin provides a comfortable base for a Shenandoah Valley getaway.
Additional note
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but natural elements such as leaves or pollen may still be present, especially in certain seasons. Download any essential content ahead of time, as Wi‑Fi can be spotty in this remote setting.

You can not beat the tranquility of this secluded spot in the mountains. And the owner's communication was fast and efficient. The bed was super comfy and the view of the stars at night was sublime. I enjoyed my stay very much.

It was surprising what the cabin did and did not have. It was better than most as far as cookware, kitchen supplies, shower supplies and so forth.
It was under supplied in tea towels (for a week of cooking), electrical outlets near mirrors (to style one's hair - no outlet in the bathroom) and no dresser, closet or even a luggage rack in the smallest bedroom. Linens were nice.
We enjoyed use of the deck grill, fire pit and hot tub and grilled and cooked daily.
It is pet friendly but no gates are on the porch. They say to bring your own baby gates (2) which we do not have. I would've rented 2 if they made that an option.
We had a blast zip line riding and my 10 year old grandson could not stop taking pics at Luray Caverns. Fantastic place.
My favorite pants badly snagged on a rough spot on the deck .
Some safety issues exist. The steps up from the driveway to the deck steps are unsafe and steep. We are retired, not young, and my husband has 2 ribs still healing from a past injury. He had to drag two ice chests and one large suitcase up those unsteady steps to the deck steps.
The lose stepping stones up to the hot tub are dangerous for children and adults.
The deck around the hot tub is to narrow to safely uncover and cover the tub. Narrow deck exists at the tub entry.
Two chairs were broken. The rocking chair inside; we reported quickly. It was not repaired during our stay. A lovely wooden deck chair was also falling apart.
The shower curtain is hung to low and drags on the shower floor. Another fall risk .
We will return to the area one autumn; when my youngest grandchild is big enough to zip line on Mamma Bear. They will want to see Luray Cavern again. We will look for a different cabin. A safer one.
realyly wanted to take the kids on a weekend adventure so we rented this great chalet with brand new hot tub and fire pit. updated furniture and fully-stocked kitchen was the perfect place for a weekend away. It's really close to Bryce resort and not far from major attractions.
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was bigger than expected and the rooms were nice. Communication with the owner was easy. The hot tub was an added bonus. AND, the firepit in back was nicely setup.
My family and I had such a lovely time! We had a lot of fun star-gazing and sitting around the bonfire while make s’mores! Tony is the best; super responsive and took time to check on us as well!
Perfect if you have a group of friends that just need an escape. The cabin is great, the fire pit is very nice, and it’s secluded enough where you have a sense of privacy.
Thanks again for staying with us. We’d love to welcome you back anytime. :)

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Hummingbird Ridge in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
