About the host
Hosted by Barbara Drake - Owner/Agent
We fell in love with the area and are starting a family resort focused on more than off road adventures on Tackett Creek, Sundquist & Royal Blue trails. We are going to be adding the Still house in 2025, a cabin up in the woods with a great nature path to walk back to an old still site. In the next few years we will be adding a general store with porch for local legends and lore to be told. The general store will double as our office and my Real Estate office. We are currently working on “Ethel’s Place” and “The Garden Apartment at Ethel’s Place” located next door by the “Gnome Home” as we build a property that features weekend themes, homesteading classes and group activities such as kayaking , fishing, rockhounding, UTV/Jeep trips, and live acoustic music. We want to build a “family” of visitors so please sign our guest book with your contact information so we can update you on our progress and offer future deals to those that stay with us while we are still building in the first few years. Follow us on Facebook at Plum Crazy Appalachian Resort for updates on current off-roading events and resort videos. Follow Barbara Drake Realtor for local happenings outside of the Offroad life. Thank you for choosing to stay with us, Barb & Chris Drake (AND Tank & Jace our fur babies)
Why they chose this property
This house is named the “Horsin’ Around House” in memory of my Father who loved entertaining, grilling/smoking fish, turkeys etc and feeding people, the mountains, nature, fishing and trail riding/showing horses.
What makes this property unique
The drive here runs along an emerald blue creek. It is a quiet mountain setting just quiet enough to enjoy the sound of the water, birds and frogs. A short walk or drive down Hickory Creek you can see elk almost every evening & along a 1mi drive or ride there are several waterfalls up Rock Creek with parking by the big waterfall. Having said that you are still on an ATV road with 2 Sundquist trails crossing, 10 mi along gravel mountain roads to the entrance of Tackett Creek & 11 miles through trails or by road to all the ATV campground excitement/gas/fab shops etc. If you have boaters with we are 17 miles from most marinas on our side of Norris Lake where you have one of the largest Lakes in the country to explore. Go see the floating cities, full houses with floating concrete sidewalks, stores,& restaurants. Rent a Boat, book a fishing charter, rent a SxS (2 or 4 seaters), book a trail guide, no matter what we can assist you with everything! Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?
