About this property
The Stargazer Chalet-Your Big Bear Experience with Ridgetop and Ski Slope Views!
This cabin was designed for the Big Bear experience! For us, that was the whole point. The first time we came to this town we instantly fell in love, but the hotels left a little to be desired. We wanted a private space with some of that classic cabin feel, but also just enough upscale accommodation to make it feel cozy and modern. We wanted a private hot tub. We wanted a wood fireplace. We wanted VIEWS! So we purchased this cabin for it's AMAZING location on the very top of the ridge, and then remodeled it to have an updated contemporary look with just enough rustic nostalgia to match the beauty of the mountains.
This location is PERFECT for families and small gatherings, and can accommodate all types of occasions. Outside we have created a wrap-around deck that gives you a full-day lounging experience. Enjoy the sunrise with a cup of coffee from the front deck as it illuminates the majesty of Bear Mountain, or have a game of Cornhole while listening to our collection of classic vinyl tracks on the record player. In the back you can enjoy a day of grilling and cold beverages followed by a dip in the oversized hot tub under the starry night sky. The kids will enjoy the loft upstairs with foosball, games, plush oversized bean bags, etc., (and it's perfect for family movie nights). And best of all, if you are headed to Bear Mountain or the zoo it's only a short walk down the ridge! No need for parking or massive lines waiting for the bus.
We are confident that you will find everything that you need here to make this trip to Big Bear the memory of a lifetime. Additionally, this home is independently owned and operated so we will be responsive and attentive to your needs. We strive for 5-star experiences so if there is anything we can do to enhance your trip let us know.

An amazing view of the slopes, easy access to the free shuttle, this was important because it was hard to find parking in downtown.
The kitchen is so nice and complete and has everything we needed. I am definitely going back.
Came here with our 3 kids (6,4,2 yo). Being able to walk to Bear mountain (8 min walk) was so great for us and I dropped off my son to ski lessons in the morning and was able to come back spend time with the littles and do snow play on the property before picking him back up after his lessons. Property has lots of games for little ones that kept them well entertained. Only draw back was one bathroom for the whole family, but was manageable.
We enjoyed our time at this quaint property in a prime location to the ski resort, the picturesque small town, and big Bear Lake. Chris was an excellent host and we highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay here. The cabin came with enough blankets, plenty of entertainment, and standard appliances. It was clean and well decorated. We plan on staying again.
Really lovely, relaxing place with amazing stargazing. Kitchen is bare bones so you'll need to bring coffee filters, cooking oil, etc. Convenient to town
We took our grandkis for an extended weekend and we had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful and Chris and Melanie were amazing host!! Five stars from us!!
Everything was perfect from the easy access into the cabin, the cleanliness, the location, and the communication with the owner. We stayed 4 days in this adorable cabin and were even there during a snow storm. They had everything we needed. It was awesome to look out the windows during the storm and watch skiers and snowboarders heading down Bear Mountain. The keyless entry told us the battery was getting low, so I contacted the property owners and they responded immediately and took care of it. They even had a backup plan in the instance the keyless entry failed. They really have everything covered. It was a great trip and I would highly recommend staying in this adorable, fully updated cabin!
It was everything we had hoped for and more. The record player, music selection and Nintendo took me back to my childhood. The location is pretty great, right next to ski resort.
There were views from both sides of the property. Amazing record collection. I have a feeling these owners are very cool. Updated but rustic. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We had a wonderful stay at the Stargazer Chalet! Nicely decorated, cozy and welcoming cabin. Roomy loft, comfy beds in the bedrooms, and relaxing decks outside. Plenty of room for 4 - 5 people. Nice kitchen that has everything you need.
We would definitely recommend the Stargazer Chalet and will book another stay in the future.
This property was awesome! Had plenty of room for families. The hot tub was amazing and being able to grill was so nice. The gorgeous view of the ski resort on one side and the stars at night on the other made for a relaxing weekend! We will be back!
Wonderful experience for our family of four. The accommodations couldn’t have been more perfect! The location is near Bear Mountain Resort…so close you could see people coming down the mountain from the living room window but far enough away to enjoy the peacefulness of the mountains. The home was SO cozy, cute, and had everything we needed. I can’t say enough great things about this place! Definitely staying here again next trip!
The house was amazing from the front entrance to the hot tub the big picture window was amazing you could look at it and see Bear Mountain the upstairs loft had a nice set up I would absolutely rent this cabin again I definitely recommend renting this cabin

About the host
Hosted by Chris and Melanie
The first time we visited Big Bear Lake was during the height of the pandemic. Just like all the city folk with nothing to do we ventured to the mountain with our two young children in hopes of finding adventure, quiet reprieve, and to maybe catch a fish or two. To our surprise, and after a couple bottles of wine, we realized that feeling inside was not just the Pinot Noir, but a true connection to the scenic mountains, the tranquility of the lake, and the quaint little town full of shopping and eateries. In a time of turmoil we found a true sense of belonging. We were home.
Why they chose this property
We had a vision of what staying in Big Bear should look like. The motels are okay but not exactly what we were looking for, or private. Most of the cabins were either too massive or too...quilty?? We needed something cozy, something calm...yet majestic. We found it.
And then we spent the next two years transforming it in to the vision we had in our minds. Everything you will see here has been custom re-modeled to accommodate the perfect Big Bear vacation for families or small groups of friends.
What makes this property unique
It's the VIEWS! You can't beat the top of the ridge. We have Bear Mountain in front of us and the North Ridge in back, which looks AMAZING at night. Short of a house right on the lake we think we're in the best location in Big Bear.
