About this property
Sugar Mountain Log Cabin with Hot Tub, Fire Pit & Modern Comforts
A historic 2 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin set along the Elk River, just 2 miles from downtown Banner Elk and approximately 1 mile from Sugar Mountain, you are close to everything while still feeling tucked away in nature. Built in the 1800s and thoughtfully renovated, this 1,200 square foot cabin blends authentic character with modern comfort in a peaceful, private setting. The cabin is easily accessible year-round with flat parking beside the home, making arrival simple even in winter months.
From the riverfront setting to the carefully curated interiors, This Old River Cabin is ideal for guests who enjoy slowing down, reconnecting, and spending time outdoors without sacrificing comfort.
This Old River Cabin features two bedrooms and two bathrooms, offering rustic charm with modern conveniences throughout.
The space
Uncommon, special, and full of character, This Old River Cabin was originally built in 1884 and has been thoughtfully restored to preserve its history while providing a comfortable, welcoming stay.
Local art is showcased throughout the home, including pottery, paintings, leatherwork, stone elements, and dried florals. The goal was not simply to create a place to stay, but an experience rooted in the region and its craftsmanship.
You are just minutes from Banner Elk, Sugar Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, and the area’s top dining, hiking, and seasonal attractions.
Kitchen and living area
The kitchen and living room are designed for gathering and unwinding together.
The kitchen features hand poured concrete countertops, custom cabinets crafted from wormy chestnut reclaimed from the cabin’s original walls, a large farmhouse sink, and a fully stocked coffee bar with a drip coffee maker, French press, and Chemex.
You will find all the essentials needed for cooking and dining, including a crockpot, blender, cookware, knives, cutting boards, bar tools, spices, olive oil, and pantry basics.
The living area includes a smart TV for streaming, puzzles, board games, and a curated selection of books.
Please note that the kitchen does not have a garbage disposal or a refrigerator water dispenser. A water filtration pitcher is provided for your stay.
