Notes about Location:
Although Laurelwood is convenient to both Boone and Blowing Rock, it is a true mountain cabin. State maintenance of the road ends before reaching the cabin. The last part of the drive before the cabin is maintained by the Sunset Acres neighborhood and is a gravel road that is steeper and not as smooth. AWD or 4WD is necessary. Being familiar with driving on mountain roads is definitely a plus!
We generally won't be on hand to welcome you to your private getaway. However, we will try to provide everything you will need to enjoy your stay.
The Neighborhood:
Located 10-15 minutes from either downtown Boone or Blowing Rock feel free to explore these towns. In winter be sure to visit Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain to enjoy the winter sports. Sugar Mountain is 25 minutes from Laurelwood. In Boone you may want to watch a game at Appalachian State. Or just take a pleasant drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway any time of year.
Although we do not allow pets at Laurelwood, we allow service animals. As such, this home is not guaranteed to be an allergy free home. Also, we have two exterior cameras mounted on the front porch and by the side entrance and both cameras face the front yard and driveway only. Video is recorded however audio is not.
Please review the lease agreement which becomes a binding contract once your booking is confirmed. You may request a copy of the lease agreement.

We had a great time at this cozy cabin. There were a couple minor hiccups, but the host communicated quickly and that made all the difference! Thanks for a great stay.
We loved our stay and recommend this beautiful cabin to anyone who may be looking to visit Boone, Blowing Rock, etc. Our host was absolutely wonderful and so accommodating. Excellent communication and so many well-thought details made our visit extra special. We were in Boone for App State graduation and there is no where else I would have rather stayed. Close to everything...we split our time mostly between Boone, Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain. 10 out of 10, for sure!
This home is a dream come true, from the peaceful setting to the thoughtful kid gear/toys and well appointed kitchen. My husband and I stayed with our two young children and had a fantastic time. The host is super communicative and has considered every detail to make your stay extra comfortable. What a delight!
This was the perfect home for our mountain adventure! We had everything we needed in this house, the loft was perfect for the kids, the kitchen was well stocked and the hot tub was a wonderful way to relax after hiking. Centrally located to many activities, we hiked to several waterfalls and checked out the shops in the surrounding areas. We will definitely be back.
Awesome views, exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything we needed including little extras like snacks and s’more making station! We would definitely book again. Communication was stellar with our host. I’d give this an 11 if I could!
The cabin was one of the best VRBO's that we've stayed in. We loved it! The host has thought of absolutely everything that anyone would need to make their stay comfortable. Diane was very accommodating and great at communicating to us, and answering our questions. After a long day of hiking in the beautiful Boone area, it was a pleasure to come back to the house. The fireplace and comfortable living room were so cozy. The bed was one of the best we've ever slept in - top notch linens, mattress and pillows. Shower was great - plenty of hot water and super water pressure - so nice after hiking all day. Kitchen has everything that you need, and then some!We can't wait to come back to Diane's cabin - we're already planning our next trip! Thank you, Diane, for your fantastic hospitality!
My family and I had an excellent stay at this rental. It was clear that the host is very meticulous about keeping the house very clean and full of helpful amenities. Small touches like a s'mores bar, holiday lights and decorations, and hot cocoa were very thoughtful and won big points from my kids. Highly recommend staying here!
Beautiful home. Host thought of everything. We had another couple join us for a couple nights and it was perfect. Although we did not have young kids, the separate room in the loft with bunk beds and the tent would be perfect. The road in was a little rough and steep for the last couple hundred yards, but negotiable without snow with any vehicle. Winter may be different as the state does not maintain the last part of the road. The only downer was we were not able to use the fire pit due to the drought in NC, and a lot of road construction, including on the Blue Ridge Parkway - I believe this is still recovering from the hurricane 2 years ago. We had some fantastic meals in Boone and Blowing Rock, both of which were within 15 minute drive.
Cabin was easy to locate and was very clean. It was filled with everything needed for a family of four. Bunk beds and play area were perfect for our 9yo girl and 3yo girl.
We had a very good stay. Property was in excellent condition and owner’s attention to detail to ensure guests have a good stay is quite impressive. We would definitely return and recommend this property to others.
We had a lovely stay at this cabin. Very conveniently located close to Boone and blowing Rock. Would definitely stay again.

About the host
Hosted by Diane Kradel
We are a woman owned, family run business, Kradel's Kabins LLC, located in Mooresville, NC just north of Charlotte. My son William, and my daughter Heather, work along with me to provide cozy vacation rentals in Boone, NC. Moving to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2009 from Pennsylvania it didn't take long to realize how close we were to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. We purchased our first cabin, Laurelwood, in Boone in the fall of 2016 and we enjoyed hosting so much that we have since purchased two additional cabins, Fernwood in the summer of 2017, and Tanglewood in the fall of 2017. Currently we have a tiny home under construction that we anticipate will be ready for guests by fall of 2024! We hope to enrich the vacation experience of anyone visiting Boone by making their stay in Laurelwood, Fernwood, or Tanglewood (and soon Wildwood) a memorable one.
Why they chose this property
Laurelwood's private setting while still being close to all the sights in nearby Boone and Blowing Rock makes the cabin an easy choice. The winter views from the kitchen and living room of the mountains and sunsets is a sight one never tires of!
What makes this property unique
Our goal is for your stay at Laurelwood to both relax and refresh you. With a cozy fireplace, a hot tub to soak in and plenty outdoor areas to enjoy the natural beauty you may not want to leave. The large screen TV is perfect for watching football, a movie or playing a video game. If you prefer the outdoors check out Laurelwood's garden spaces and enjoy the fire pit and hot tub or just reading a book on the front porch.
