Wonderful place to stay. Very close to Hapuna beach, Mauna Kea beach, waikaloa, and across the street from a restaurant icy beach with frequent sea turtle visits.
Shady property in a quiet area of Puako and close to everything. Public shoreline beach access nearby and an easy walk away. The General Store is close by and has hearty sandwiches for lunch. It was a great week!
This modest cottage on a Puako drive was a perfect retreat for me. I spent the holidays with my daughters in-laws who own a home nearby , and I had a cozy place to have some privacy during all the fun.

and take good care.
Warmest Aloha,

The property is immaculately detailed from appliances to artwork to furnishings. Being tucked into its own little lot across from the shoreline provides the ability to enjoy the Big Island while minimizing exposure to the large tourist crowd.
It is perfectly sized for a couple! We thoroughly enjoyed barbecuing fresh fish daily on the grill and relaxed to stars at night. Wonderfully relaxing!!!

I wanted to stay in a quiet place close to the ocean that felt like Hawaii, not a resort. We got wild pigs in the backyard, a gecko in our cottage who chirped each day, and wild turkeys sharing our walk to the ocean, which is right across the street. Sunsets were amazing and we finally saw the green flash, which we had been chasing for years. Cottage is just right for 2 people and we loved our daily morning coffee on the lanai surrounded by birdsong. One of the best beaches on the Big Island, Hapuna, is a very short distance away. The location, just off Hwy 19, gave us access to anywhere else we wanted to go and is barely 30 minutes from the airport. Beware of 2 very noisy roosters who woke us each morning!

Mahalo for your kind words, Roseann. Mother Nature is certainly a highlight in our lovely wild environment. We are so delighted you were embraced by the spirit and tenderness of our special paradise including the diversity of creatures within our Ohana. That rooster Romeo is a narcissistic fella carrying out his duty within the neighborhood as if voted deputy AND mayor! Warmest aloha for you all in 2025. Mahalo for being such lovely guests.
Great location if you want to be near the beach! Puako has several beach access points, each with their own charm for hanging by the water - a lot of Lava/coral so do not expect "swimming beaches". Head to the end of the road to the park for fabulous sunsets!
House was as it looked - newly remodeled and quite charming. As the photos indicate, the bedroom is completely open to the living room. Furniture is not the most comfortable and a dresser would be handy. The location does not allow for much of a breeze so the AC is very handy. House was outfitted nicely - kitchen utensils, beach chairs, etc. Also, plenty of soap, tp, etc for our 2-week stay.
Enjoy!
Beautiful home, steps from the water. Well-equipped kitchen, plenty of beach gear, gorgeous, peaceful front- and backyards. Perfect home and location for our stay in Puako. Photos are accurate!

Why they chose this property
Aloha! If you are looking for a sweet place to unplug, away from crowds, in nature, at the beach, in a quiet residential (not resort), location, we are a good fit. If you need services, concierge and nightlight other than sunset, birds, beach, whales, we are not that profile. We do not have a TV and have room for 2 adults +1 young adult, maximum. Puako is on the hot and dry side of the island. We are not in the tropical rain forest. If you have been to Puako, you know what a unique and truly special location this is. We have a very large and private backyard adjacent to the state forest. The front yard is large with an amazing Monkey Pod tree providing shade throughout the day. We are directly across the street from the reef/ocean. Our building is original Hawaiiana, refreshed in 2020, and humble. We hope you enjoy your visit as much as we love this hidden treasure. Mahalo Elizabeth
