About this property
Eden Cottage Countryside Retreat
Summary:
Relax and unwind in an Idyllic Irish Retreat. This is the perfect traditional countryside home from which to explore Western Ireland! Eden is large yet cozy, complete with all modern amenities. Tucked on a hillside, trees dot the edges of the beautiful one-acre yard.
The Space:
Open the door. Eden Retreat wraps its arms around you from the moment you walk inside. This home is an ideal hideaway for one or more couples traveling together. It’s also a great lodging for families and friends to gather.
Eden consists of a lovely main home and detached cottage with full bathroom. A 1,000 square foot covered deck surrounds the cottage, a portion of which is covered for all-weather enjoyment.
The main house features a spacious and inviting open-plan common area with kitchen, dining area and large comfortable living room. The 40" flat-screen TV has Sky satellite service, including subscription Sport & Movie channels. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with showers in the main house.
The hot-tub cottage is a cheerful, bright space featuring an indoor hot tub encased in sandstone. The cottage has its own bathroom with shower, and may be used as a fifth bedroom on request. A full height, queen-size (and very comfortable!) air-bed will be dressed and ready on arrival should you need it.
This home is the best of both worlds. Peaceful and quiet, Eden is tucked on the outskirts of Ennis, a charming and bustling market town, and the capital of County Clare. Only 20 minutes from Shannon Airport, 30 minutes from Clare’s rugged scenic coast, and 3 minutes from the M18 motorway linking Galway & Limerick, Eden’s location is ideal for exploring the best of Western Ireland.
The stunning, peaceful ambiance of Irish nature is one step outside your back door. A custom-paved patio, perfect for parties and lounging, awaits you. Gracious sandstone walls and wooden steps lead through terraced lawns and flower gardens.
Eden Cottage Retreat is nearby all major attractions on Ireland's stunning west coast, including: The Cliffs of Moher, Galway City, The Aran Islands, Doolin Village, Bunratty Castle, Adare Heritage Village, Cork & the Blarney Stone, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. The long sandy beach and promenade at surf-mecca Lahinch is just 30 minutes away.
And don't worry, Eden offers a speedy Wi-Fi connection!
Guest Access:
Guests will have the entire House & Hot-Tub Cottage at their disposal. Eden Retreat comfortably sleeps 9 adults.
The Neighborhood:
Eden Retreat is located 4 miles north of the town of Ennis. Ennis gets its name from the Irish word “inis” (island) because it is virtually surrounded by the River Fergus, a melodious presence throughout. The streets of Ennis are narrow and charming, with many areas pedestrianized. There are plenty of locals here—Ennis is no tourist trap—and you’ll hear voices that are raised in laughter or storytelling in bakeries and bookstores alike. The Friary at the bottom of Abbey Street was founded by the O’Briens in the 13th century. Many of its original features survive. It’s breath-taking and has a textured silence that speaks through the centuries.
Why the Owner Chose Ennis:
The main attraction in Ennis is the locals’ love of traditional Irish music. The town is renowned as a hub of 'trad' music, and musicians of the highest quality are on display in the pubs of Ennis throughout the year. It often seems that those in town who can't sing or play an instrument are very much in the minority! Ennis is located near all the best attractions in the West of Ireland including the Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands, Galway, Limerick, Cork, the Blarney Stone and an array of beautiful beaches.
Getting Around:
Eden Retreat is just 15 minutes from Shannon Airport, 2.5 hours from Dublin Airport.
There is ample private parking on-site.
As the house is not served by public transportation (other than taxis), having a rental car is essential.
Other Things to Note:
Electricity and Heating Oil Usage are included in listed rates
Interaction with Guests:
The owners of Eden Retreat have worked in the travel industry for 20 years, and are delighted to share their wealth of local and countrywide knowledge with guests.
