About this property
Art Studio Retreat with Sauna Fireplace Forest Views | Dream House in the Gunks
Dream Art Studio in the Gunks is more than a place to stay—it’s an immersive experience crafted for rest, creativity, and connection to nature. This standalone studio, nestled at the edge of the forest in Kerhonkson, NY, was built from the ground up by local artists and thoughtfully designed to invite a slower pace and deeper breath.
The open-plan living space is anchored by a stunning, custom-carved stone fireplace that adds both sculptural beauty and seasonal warmth. Large windows flood the space with natural light and frame views of the surrounding forest, creating a seamless flow between indoors and out. In every direction, you’ll find carefully considered details: a handmade dining table for shared meals or quiet work, original art by Ilias Muratov, leather seating, soft lighting, and high-quality bamboo floors underfoot.
Step outside to the private barrel sauna, tucked just behind the studio. It’s the perfect way to unwind after a long hike, writing session, or day of exploring the Hudson Valley. In the warmer months, listen for birds and the quiet sound of the creek running behind the property.
The sleeping area includes a premium Casper mattress designed with Zoned Support™ technology for balanced, ergonomic comfort—ideal for side sleepers, back sleepers, and anyone needing restorative rest. Soft linens and forest views complete the setup.
The Studio is part of our curated Dream House in the Gunks collection—each home is intentionally designed, seriously cleaned, and carefully maintained. We live locally, and our small team takes pride in offering boutique-level hospitality without shortcuts. From fresh linens to fast Wi-Fi, from host recommendations to thoughtful design, everything we provide is geared toward making your stay seamless and meaningful.
You'll have full, private access to the Studio and front porch. Parking for two vehicles is available directly in front. The kitchen is fully equipped for light cooking and morning coffee, and the space is ideal for solo travelers, couples, artists, writers, and anyone looking to reset in a space that feels both grounding and elevated.
We are located just one mile from Stony Kill Falls, and just a few miles from the entrance to Minnewaska State Park, where you’ll find hiking trails, crystal-clear lakes, rock climbing, and expansive views of the Hudson Valley. The area is rich with wineries, farm stands, restaurants, art centers, and outdoor experiences—including skydiving, paragliding, skiing, and harvest picking.
While the Studio is private, it is not fully secluded—there are other homes nearby, and the area is quiet but not remote. Expect to see or hear wildlife, especially in warmer months. We maintain a professional pest control service, but being surrounded by trees means the occasional bug or curious creature may still make an appearance.
Inside, a natural wool carpet adds warmth and texture. Like many organic materials, it may shed slightly. Please take note if you have sensitivities or allergies.
Whether you’re looking to create, reflect, reconnect, or simply rest—we invite you to make this space your own. It’s our hope that you’ll leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more connected than when you arrived.

About the host
Hosted by Serg
I started hosting with a simple goal: to share the beauty of the Gunks with others in a way that felt real, welcoming, and restorative. Over the years, that vision grew into something much larger. Today, Dream House in the Gunks is supported by a small, passionate team that shares my commitment to thoughtful hospitality, serious cleanliness, and soulful design.
Every space we host is built or curated with care—from handmade furniture and original art to peaceful corners for rest, reflection, or creativity. Whether you're coming for a retreat, adventure, or just a quiet weekend, we want our homes to feel like a deep breath.
We live locally, love the outdoors, and are happy to share tips about nearby hikes, food, hidden waterfalls, or art spots. And if you’re curious about skydiving, just ask—I'm also an instructor at Skydive the Ranch and love introducing first-timers to the sky.

Why they chose this property
Some spaces feel different the moment you enter. This Studio was created from the ground up by local artists, with every corner designed to support stillness, creativity, and comfort. The centerpiece is a handmade stone-carved fireplace that brings grounding warmth to the open living space. Nearby, a large window looks directly into the forest, inviting the outdoors in while offering a peaceful view in any season.
Guests often tell us they sleep better here, think more clearly, and leave feeling more connected—to themselves, to nature, or to their work. The space includes a leather sofa and chair, a handmade dining table, and original artwork by Ilias Muratov. Step outside to enjoy the newly added barrel sauna—a place to fully unplug and reset after a hike or a long creative session.
Located just a mile from Stony Kill Falls and a few miles from Minnewaska State Park, the Studio is ideal for hikers, travelers, writers, and anyone needing a beautiful place to slow down. The design is simple, soulful, and supportive—part of our wider Dream House in the Gunks collection.
We're always improving and refining this space based on experience, feedback, and care. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind stay that blends forest, art, and comfort—you’ll feel it here.
