After 3 years of having opened my business, I unfortunately took a reservation of a couple, mother-in-law and 2 children. After frequent email correspondance during which one bargained for discounts and all sorts of extra's, they secured a booking of 9 days for which I took the standard 30 % deposit. We strive to offer a superior service and have had many happy and very satisfied clients; esp. families with young children. For min stays of 1 week we meet and pickup our guests from the airport however this couple requested to be picked up 5 days prior to their reservation at SAFRAN to be taken to another hotel which is simply 'not done'. We did offer to reimburse their taxi from the hotel to Erriadh. As Aug is our prime season , we have clients back to back and we need a few hours at midday to prepare the house for the next guests. These people insisted to arrive at 12 so I prepared another home for them to stay in an AC room to await their transfer to Dar Gafsa. A babybed and cold drinks were provided. It was the last day of Ramadan and the Aid the following day, a very special time for the locals; my staff was present and willing to work hard to accomodate our new guests. Upon arrival it was obvious that the setting of the accomodation, a rural village and being 7KM from the beach was not according to their requirements, something they failed to research themselves; my site offers all information and photograhs so no person can claim to be misled. This group was not happy by their own doing and no matter what we could have offered; it would not have been good enough nor would they have been satisfied. Their excuses and complaints are invalid and false : although we normally do not offer a refund of the deposit up to a month prior, we refunded their money minus one day accomodation, which price during high-season is clearly indicated on my site. They left the menzel in total chaos, a broken window in an upper bedroom and took all the complimentary food. One often reads of holiday establishments mistreating and financially duping their clients however in this case it was I , the owner and manager of SAFRAN.This incident caused my staff and I many stressful hours and loss of business. Some people will go to any extend to abuse the etiquette and natural goodwill of others to get their holiday expenses paid for; very unfortunate experience.

Dear Damien and Isabelle, Thank you very much for submitting a review. We strive to offer our clients a personalized service that provides them with all the necessaries to fully enjoy their holiday. We like to cater to young families like yours and concentrate on all family members to have a relaxing, fun and unforgettable time in Djerba. The historic village of Erriadh is in the process of change; a number of old menzels have been lovingly restored with others undergoing or awaiting reconstruction. Part of its charm is, that its original village character is still 'in tact'. However, plans for further development, specialty shops and amenities are in the works, hopefully maintaining and preserving its original cultural essence. It is my personal opinion that once Tunisia has found its new 'democratic balance', Erriadh will be a sought-after travel destination in the Arab world. Kind regards, Belinda SAFRAN

wonderful stay

Excellent stay, the property was ideal for the 4 of us[two teenage sons aged 21 and 19and my wife and me].Belinda was the perfect host and provided us with a welcoming pack of food, advice and help of where to go ,eat, explore and even took us to the souk and advised us where to buy etc.The property was beautifully restored and maintained and a great relaxing base.we had a wonderful stay and travelled by taxi everywhere[Relatively cheap].The only drawback was the location for us because we had to fly in and out of monastir airport which was a days travel. However it was well worth the effort!

Creative, inventive and original.

Why they chose this property

I discovered this beautiful Village in 2006. During this time, there were many abandoned and neglected homes in contrast to what it is today. My architectural , design and restoration background. Eventually led me to the purchase of three homes.

What makes this property unique

Each home dat dates back approximately 250 years andhas been carefully restored to modern day conveniences..
