We stayed here with 3 families total, all with young kids. Property was great and everyone had a great time. Owner was easy to work with and the check in process was seamless. Highly recommend!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
The house and property are very nice. It was a good place to gather with other family in town the same weekend. Was disappointed that I was charged extra to use the 3rd floor area to accommodate more than 6 guests. The online listing states the rental is for the entire house.

When making a reservation, the Vrbo website asks for the number of guests. For a reservation for more than 6 guests, there is an additional charge of $50 per person per night plus applicable taxes, calculated by the website. Thus, there is an additional charge for a reservation for guests in excess of 6.
Lovely secluded location with a beautiful kitchen and plenty of bedrooms and baths. We came for a horseback riding weekend and this location couldn’t be beat. Horses stayed 5 minutes up the road and we got to share the lovely property with the cows and donkeys as well as lots of wildlife Just what you want for a relaxing weekend out of the city. Courteous caretaker that asked if it was okay to feed the cows at the regular time- our answer was “of course!” We were happy to all have our own bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms for cleaning up before dinner. Perfect mix of rustic with modern conveniences for our group. Close enough to Galena for meals and shopping but a nice private location away from the hubbub.
We had a wonderful weekend stay at the Lodge with a group of 10 adults. Everyone appreciated having their own bedroom and plenty of bathrooms, which is a rare and welcome setup for larger groups. The space is impressively roomy both inside and out, offering lots of comfortable areas to gather or enjoy a quiet moment. The decor is clean and practical, no frills, just exactly what a group like ours needed to relax and reconnect. Everything felt intentional and easy to settle into. One of our favorite moments was sipping coffee on the covered patio during a rainy morning—peaceful, cozy, and exactly the kind of reset we came for. The third-floor suite is especially nice. It is spacious and tucked away for anyone wanting extra privacy. We made a day trip to Dyersville for the Ghost Game at the Field of Dreams (highly recommend for wholesome fun) and explored Galena just 10–15 minutes away, which is a charming town with great shops and restaurants.Overall, the Lodge’s quiet setting and thoughtful layout made for a perfect retreat. We’d absolutely stay again.
