About this property
Historic holiday home "Veste Dilsberg" near Heidelberg
The holiday home "Veste Dilsberg", located in the heart of the beautiful old fortress Dilsberg, whose cityscape of romantic alleys, winding half-timbered houses, a fantastic castle park and the high-lying castle from the 13th Century. Only a few minutes away from romantic Heidelberg
Here you live in a historic half-timbered house from 1750 right in the old core of the Dilsberg fortress, which with its romantic alleys is visible from far above the Neckar valley. The mountain festival is over 800 years old and a holiday in this holiday home is always a special experience for young and old. From the old castle you have a wonderful view over the Neckar valley, the Odenwald and the Kraichgau.
Our holiday home "Veste Dilsberg" offers space for 2-3 people, the studio "Altes Waschhaus Dilsberg" for another 2 people (bookable on request).
Both of them have their own individual charm ...
The area offers something for all holidaymakers, big and small: The old town Neckargemünd has a history of more than 1000 years. Medieval alleys with numerous half-timbered buildings invite you to stroll. Hikes in the surrounding Odenwald and Kraichgau to nightlife in Heidelberg's old town, everything is possible. The forest is on the doorstep, the Neckarsteig leads over the Dilsberg from Heidelberg to Bad Wimpfen. Hiking trails lead to the castles to Neckarsteinach (Odenwald Nature Park), to Neckargemünd's old town, to Heidelberg Castle and to the Königstuhl. The very good S-Bahn / bus connection (bus stop directly in front of the fortress) invites you to excursions to Heidelberg, Mannheim and the wider Neckar Valley. The wide range of leisure activities in Neckargemünd with natural swimming pool, climbing garden, bike / pedelec and canoe rental, tennis courts, mini-golf, beach volleyball and riding stables invite you to stay on site. There are exhibitions, concerts and theater performances all year round, both in Neckargemünd and on the Dilsberg. In summer you can attend the performances in the open-air stage in front of Dilsberg Castle or a workshop in the commandant's house, where numerous musical events take place.
The night watchman tours through the fortress Dilsberg, through the old alleys, to the castle and the castle gallery, which is 80 m deep, are a special experience. According to the old legend, there should be a tunnel from there to the other side of the Neckar. Sometimes you meet the old ghost of the castle, let yourself be surprised.
If you are interested in caves, visit the Eberstadt stalactite cave near Buchen.
The one to two million year old and 600 m long stalactite cave is part of the Geo-Nature Park Bergstrasse-Odenwald. In it there are rich stalactite jewelry, very slim as well as very compact-conical ground stalactites, sinter flags, sinter terraces and crystals.
The following sights are also part of the Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald:
Messel Pit, Lorsch Monastery, Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue, Stockstadt am Rhein, Odenwald-Limes, Felsenmeer near Reichenbach, Lautertal (Odenwald), Obrunnschlucht between Höchst im Odenwald and Rimhorn, Heidelberg with Heidelberg Castle, Katzenbuckel - at 626 m, the highest elevation of the Odenwalds, Odenwälder Freilandmuseum in Walldürn-Gottersdorf.
The new bathing world with palm paradise, a huge spa area with various saunas and swimming pool has opened its doors for wellness fans in Sinsheim. The car and technology museum there is also worth a visit.
