About this property

Charming holiday cottage in quiet surroundings in the heart of the Périgord Noir

The holiday cottage is part of an old converted farmstead, built in the traditional local style using honey-coloured limestone, that has been completely renovated and comfortably furnished. It is situated in a peaceful, secluded location, at the end of a private lane on a south-facing slope above and within walking distance of the village of Tursac, set amidst an 8,000 m² wooded plot.
The house (approx. 60 m²) comprises a large living room, a spacious kitchen with dining area, and a shower/WC on the ground floor. The upper floor under the sloping roof comprises an open through-room / landing with table and bed, leading to a separate bedroom with two beds. In summer, it can get warm upstairs, a Dyson fan is provided, whilst the ground floor always remains pleasantly cool.
A large terrace, with both shaded and sunny seating areas, invites to relax outdoors.
The house is ideal for two people (+/- 1–2 small children or three adults who know each other well). A baby cot can be provided if required.
The final cleaning fee is included in the rental price.
Wi-Fi is not available.

The region
Tursac (Périgord Noir, Dordogne department) is a small village in the Vézère valley, with numerous attractions in the immediate vicinity. Scenic beauty and a rich cultural heritage characterise this well-developed tourist region. Picturesque villages, medieval towns (Sarlat, Bergerac, Périgueux, etc.), bastides, castles, palaces and magnificent gardens are worth visiting just as much as places of pilgrimage with Romanesque churches and open-air museums. Les Eyzies and its surroundings are regarded as the most significant centre of Stone Age cultures in France. Numerous caves featuring Palaeolithic art (Font de Gaume, Combarelles, Cap Blanc, Rouffignac) as well as museums housing rich collections and ‘Lascaux IV’ fascinate not only archaeologists and attract visitors from all over the world. Music lovers will find a wide range of concerts on offer during the summer. Sport enthusiasts can enjoy hiking and cycling in the hilly, wooded countryside or canoeing on the Vézère and Dordogne rivers.
The region’s flora and fauna are a delight for nature lovers. Local specialities are on offer at lively weekly markets, whilst vineyards invite visitors to sample their wines. The cuisine and wines of the Périgord are renowned, and the restaurants reflect this high standard. In Tursac itself, there are two restaurants: one serving French cuisine and the other Tibetan. Shopping facilities of all kinds can be found in the surrounding villages (e.g. Les Eyzies, 5 km). The nearest towns are Le Bugue (= Martin Walker’s ‘St. Denise’, 12 km), Sarlat (20 km), Montignac (20 km) and Pérgiueux (45 km).
