Saturday to Saturday beginning the week before the Fourth thru Labor Day

Lakefront Cottage on beautiful Opal Lake... sandy beach.

Opal Lake is Otsego County's premier, pristine all-sports lake.

Clear water, firm bottom and weed free.

The cottage sits on a small hill, facing west overlooking Opal Lake. This provides for cool, slow mornings and magnificent sunsets.

Front breakfast room is glass / screen enclosed, overlooks Opal Lake providing a wonderful morning wake-up for the whole family.

Large wooded side yard provides privacy and the perfect place for cookouts and fire-pit bonfires.

Opal Lake is clean, clear and cool. Excellent for swimming, water skiing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, platooning and fishing.

Best kept secret that beats Torch Lake without a boat!

We LOVED this rental. The water was clear and blue- just like at Torch Lake. But no large waves and easy to kayak. The trip to the island was such a cool adventure! Had all the utensils needed, plenty of towels and even dish soap/hand soap/paper towels and TP were provided. We had more beds than we did people, meaning we could really spread out! We hope to make this return next year with my in laws.

Beautiful view, great water, a nice amount of space, a large lot for our toys, quiet, a lot of beds, and internet, good shower.... all of the best..... No bugs either.....! Thank you.

Beautiful Outside Areas, Could use a little updating

The lake and view were beautiful. The outside firepit area was awesome for sitting outside ad enjoying the evenings. The house could use some updates (mattresses, comfortable furniture, and maybe a bigger shower...we r tall people and it was tough using the low shower head). Overall the week we stayed was good!!

Great rustic getaway on a quiet lake

Beautiful, peaceful setting! Cottage is rustic but not different than advertised - with lots of fans there we didn't miss AC too much. The hosts live right next door and were very responsive the few times we needed them. They proactively communicated around an issue with the fridge before our arrival and took care of it. The lake is definitely a highlight. Water was crystal clear and had good fishing as well. The canoe and boat were great for getting to the good bass spots. The beach needed some cleanup when we arrived but had a nice sandy bottom with some rocks under what we raked out. It is worth noting that the water level was up during our stay versus the pictures on the listing so there was no real sandy beach above the water line to play in.

Best stay ever

My family enjoyed the stay at the cabin a lot. We were fishing, kayaking, swimming, hiking around the lake. The cabin had enough space to accommodate our group of 6. The lake is beautiful. We will defiantly come back! Thank you Philip so much for letting us to stay at your cabin.

It was very relaxing and we enjoyed the lake and also being able to sit around the bonfire. It was very peaceful. The cabin was no frills and loved it. Had family visit and they loved it also. Check in went smoothly.

Family Vaca on the Lake

What an awesome week at Tattrie’s Cottage! We wanted a place to stay for our family of six (4 teens) with a place to dock our boat so we could play on the lake. This was perfect! Opal Lake is beautiful and the cottage was 15 steps away. Everything we needed to cook meals was provided including pots, pans, dishes, and a charcoal grill. The cottage was close to Gaylord so very easy for us to run there for activities or groceries. Plenty of sleeping space and comfortable beds. One small bathroom and shower but certainly enough for a cottage. Would not hesitate to rent Tattrie’s again as owners were very easy to access and made sure everything was set!

Cottage life- on the lake

We expected a traditional lake cottage. Exactly what we found. Not fancy, but remarkably clean for the type of use it gets! An amazingly quiet and beautiful lake. Open to water sports but not a big, noisy, party lake. Clean lake with a sandy bottom, (not weedy) good fishing too! Our teens had plenty to do. Cottage had all of the essentials. Great vacation get away! Thanks.

We stayed with our dogs and had an amazing time swimming, fishing and lots of wonderful walks! The owners are great! Have almost everything you would need to enjoy a family vacation right on the lake. Beautiful views, great fishing and all the amenities of home. We will definitely be coming back.

What a great place we will be back

Having grown up in Gaylord I have known about Opal Lake all my life. Now we have spent two wonderful weeks in Tattrie's Cottage and look forward to our return. The owners are wonderful neighbors and if you have concerns they can take care of them. We had family visit most days and sitting in the yard watching the sunset was one of our favorite pastimes.We had our dog (lab) and she thought that swimming was great.

Why they chose this property

Opal Lake is just south of Gaylord and within a three hour drive of most of Southeast Michigan. Gaylord is still like a small town in many ways, but large enough to offer restaurants, shops, movies and other conveniences within a few minutes of the lake. Gaylord is centrally located and many Northern Michigan Highlights are within an hour of Tattrie's Cottage. As well, some of the nations prime fly fishing is found in the Au Sable and other rivers head-watered in Otsego County.

What makes this property unique

This is a lakefront cabin, so the lake is the prime focus. The lake is small enough and remote enough to maintain that Up North atmosphere and yet large enough to enjoy boating, skiing and all water sports. Peace and quiet in God's Country: Northern Michigan. Life on Opal Lake is good.
