Inside, the single‑level cottage feels instantly welcoming, with natural light filling the living area and a private entrance that lets you settle in without a fuss.

The cottage comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests. One bedroom offers a queen bed, while the other two bedrooms each feature a queen/twin bunk bed. A pull‑out sofa in the living room provides additional sleeping space. Bed linens, extra pillows, and blankets are supplied for crisp mountain nights.
Living space
All main living areas are on one level, eliminating stairs and making movement easy for families and guests of all ages. Comfortable seating surrounds a TV for relaxed evenings, and Wi‑Fi is available, though service can be slower or spotty because of the remote mountain setting. Outdoor living
The backyard and deck invite you to step outside at any time. The outdoor hot tub is a favorite year‑round, perfect for soaking under the open sky after a chilly day. A fire pit offers a warm gathering spot in the evenings, and a grill is available for outdoor cooking when the weather allows.
Family & pet friendly
Children’s books, toys, and dinnerware are provided, and the spacious yard gives kids room to play. Dogs are welcome; cats are not allowed due to allergies.
Practical comforts
A washer and dryer, bathroom essentials, and a bathtub make longer stays easy. Free on‑site parking, a private entrance, and self‑check‑in with a lockbox add flexibility to your arrival.
Neighborhood & attractions
The Shenandoah River is a short walk away, offering scenic views in every season. Downtown Luray and the famous Luray Caverns are about a ten‑minute drive, with restaurants, breweries, shops, and seasonal festivals nearby. Shenandoah National Park and surrounding mountain scenery are close, making the cottage an ideal base for exploring the area.

About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Ellery Cottage in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
