WATCH WHALES SWIM BY ONLY A FEW HUNDRED YARDS AWAY, WARM WEATHER AND UNBELIEVABLE SUNSETS!

This 2200 square foot home was built in 2002 with an additional bedroom and bathroom added in 2012. It was designed in old Hawaii estate style with a roomy 1100 square feet of lanai, screens and sliders that open full length plus louvered windows to encourage the tropical trade winds to maintain the home at a comfortable temperature without the use of air conditioning. A seawall on the ocean side of the home protects the landscape from salt-water damage so the lush tropical flora flourishes. The dipping pool outside the north bedroom wing is the perfect spot to refresh after a day of golf or tennis at one of the nearby resorts. Between two tall coconut palms, sway in the cozy hammock while listening to the melody of the rolling waves. The covered lanai features built-in cushioned seating for two, teak lounge chairs and dining table, plus a serving area with sink. Entry to the ocean is at the nearest public shoreline access (2 houses away) as the sea wall prevents direct ocean access from the property.

Perfect Family Oceanfront Home

Wonderful two weeks at Hale Ohana with our children and grandchildren. Beautiful views, wildlife and access to beaches. Mary at 2 Papayas was very helpful throughout. Would love to come back.

Dream House

This house was perfect for our family vacation on the Big Island. The views were breath taking. We saw so many turtles, dolphins and all the sea life! The house was as beautiful as the listing. The area is quiet and not busy which we loved. Will definitely return on next trip out.

This is a well appointed home; every room supplied with comfy beds and linens and original art throughout. Nothing has been spared; bathrooms and interior meticulously maintained. Upon arrival the rooms are fluffed and a lovely breeze flows freely in this ocean front oasis. The grounds and landscape is well maintained and a hammock beckons to have guest enjoy a son set view from a lanai equipped with all things needed for a barbecue or dinner served. The management team are a professional crew and are available 24/7. Awesome guest services! We look forward to renting this lovely home away from home again!

All furnishings very comfortable, decor inviting. The kitchen well equipped. The setting SPECTACULAR. The ocean at our doorstep. The marine life in tidal pools astounding, sea turtles, eels, fish too numerous to list. And in the horizon dolphins and whales seen almost every day. Several in our party scuba dived with the Blue Wilderness Dive Shop, which is close by.. Leave taking brought tears to our eyes, a memorial experience .

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The accommodation met our expectations but the feeling emanating from the home and property exceeded our hopes. Clean 100%. As pictured 150%. The protected tide pools and marine life doubled as morning, afternoon, and night entertainment – turtles, baby sharks, eels, fish, dolphins, and whales. The only amenity we wished for were paddleboards so we could get closer to the outer reef, but the beach chairs and snorkel equipment was used regularly and in great shape. The location is amazing – a quiet, isolated neighborhood, but quick access to shopping, beaches, and all the Big Island tours and day trips. The dipping pool was being the perfect place to float or play with the family. The property managers were attentive without being intrusive and answered our questions before and during our vacation. We loved every minute of our stay.

perfect two weeks

We just loved the property it lived up to all the pictures.. Mary and her team were so easy to work with. The sunsets we amazing. There were two great beaches with in ten minutes and you could walk out to see the turtles thru the beach access next door. Great having your own pool to walk into when ever you needed it. Working on plans to return again next year.

Fabulous set up!

Perfect quiet spot with everything nature offers right in your back yard! Sea turtles, blow fish and sting rays!! House has plenty our outdoor living space and you don’t want to leave. Beach down the street is perfect for swimming and the whole area is teeming with fantastic snorkeling. House has comfortable beds and plenty of privacy in each space along with plenty of bathrooms. I highly recommend you book this!

Great vacation

Wonderful vacation hosted by Mary and 2Papayas! Location was great- we enjoyed snorkeling right outside the house, watching turtles and whales every day. House was clean and well stocked- we couldn’t have asked for more. Hoping to be able to come back soon. Thank you for a memorable time on the Big Island!

Lovely Puako Beach Drive, with the ocean in your backyard!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were very happy with the location, Puako is a great neighborhood, we love it! Waking up to the ocean every day was amazing! Mary (and her team) were always very helpful when we needed them. We stayed for 5 weeks, so there were a number of things that we found were not ideal for us, for such a long stay: small living area, only 1 TV in the entire house, washing machine that did not clean anything, uncomfortable furniture and no real indoor dining space. The listing claimed 1 room had an en-suite bath, but you had to exit the bedroom to access the bath. Next time we would choose a different home in Puako to meet our needs but I would still recommend this home for others on shorter stays. We would definitely rent with 2Papayas again! They were great!
