About this property
SUMMER VACA ALOHA! Steps to the Ocean, Puako "Dream House"
A wonderful relaxing get away to the magical, historic Puako on the Big Island. The rate covers 6 guests. The "Dream House" is located in the enchanting beach community of Puako on the Big Island of Hawaii, just north of the Mauna Lani resort and south of the Mauna Kea, on the sunny Northwest side of the island. This impeccable property provides everything for a peaceful and relaxing holiday, with a multitude of adventures to choose from as well. Set upon an expansive grassy lawn, this fully enclosed property offers a safe haven for young and old.
Just steps away is the beach access leading you to the magic of Puako. The lava pools are perfect for all explorers. Swim with the sea turtles and amazing sea life. The beach is perfect for sun tanning while keeping a close eye on the kids or immersing yourself in your favorite book. A good pair of reef walkers is a good idea. They will allow you hours and miles of exploration along this pristine stretch of beach and lava pools. Just offshore are the mothers and baby whales that come every year late winter into early spring. The warm waters give them a safe haven to mate, give birth and nurture their young. This area is also has world-class snorkeling and scuba-diving.
After a day at the beach, come home to a luxurious, private, outdoor rain shower surrounded by lava rocks and bamboo. Enjoy a game of ping pong with the kids or nap on the daybed while you enjoy the breezes of Hawaii. All of which is included on the ground level, covered, open-air recreation area.
Upstairs, the open floor plan and abundance of windows and walls of sliding doors allow guests to enjoy the trade winds that freely flow thru Puako, 24/7. However, for those extra hot and sticky days, the home offers the luxury of being fully air-conditioned with split units in every main room. Wireless Internet is available throughout the property with TV in every bedroom and the main living room. The over 2,500 sqft of living space features furnishing that are all new and well appointed. The fully stocked kitchen has a gas range wall oven and microwave. There is formal dining both indoors and outdoors, a gas BBQ and wrap around lanai on the upper level. There are peekaboo views of the ocean to the west and beautiful mountain views to the east in a panoramic setting. The master bedroom and bathroom encompass the entire loft area of the 2nd story and has a pony wall that opens to the great room below. The 4th bedroom is an Ohana (family studio apartment) located on the ground level which includes its own bathroom.
Puako, once an ancient fishing village and sugar plantation, is now the ONLY residential oceanfront neighborhood on the South Kohala Coast. Take a 15 minute beach walk south to the nearby Fairmont Orchid for further sunsets, conversations, cocktails, appetizers, live music and dinner. One of our favorite must stops is is the famous blue Malasada truck. Hot homemade donuts as you wait. Be sure to visit uncle Bobby for a fresh cut coconut with a straw.
Puako is home to the largest collection of Hawaiian petroglyphs (rock drawings) in the State. Take the family on a petroglyph hunt and ask them what they think these ancient symbols could mean. Just make sure the whole family is wearing good shoes. Over 3,000 of these drawings can be found in Puako alone, each with a story to be told.
Our goal is to make the house a home away from home for our family and yours. Alex was born in Hawaii and has come home. This is truly the "Dream house", thus the name, she has found for her family to learn and enjoy the Aloha spirit she experienced as a child. Come and create your own story here. We hope the big island and Puako will be a place you always want to come back to. Please follow us on instagram- @hale_moe_uhane_puako Facebook- Hale Moe' Uhane Puako

What a beautiful house that was perfectly appointed. We made dinner here every night and watched the sun rise every morning… thanks for a great vacation!
We staid in this wonderful house for a week this summer and everything was perfect from the house itself, location and the hospitality. We absolutely loved it and will be coming back!
It was the perfect place for our stay. Would stay again. The house is lovely and the team that takes care of you and the house were so thoughtful and kind. Great neighborhood as well. Could not have been happier.
Super roomy and well decorated property with plenty of amenities! We had stayed in Pauko once before and really enjoyed our return trip. Beach access is very close, and property has beach chars, some snorkeling gear, and plenty of towels. The coast is rocky with strips of sand, lots of turtles, and good snorkeling. The hosts were very helpful and responsive. Definitely five stars!
Property was as pictured - beautiful, a short walk to beach access and far away from the crowds but close to Hwy 19 so easy drive to airport and/or shopping etc.
A beautiful home with incredibly well-considered amenities and supplies, and very thoughtful and responsive management.

This property was in a beautiful location right next to Pauko beach and we found it to be perfectly centrally located for our activities! The home is stunning and every last detail has been thought of. We had an amazing trip!
Alex was super accomodating. The house was well stocked and in wonderful location. Short, short walk to beach with snorkling and turtles. The house is really beautiful with ac in each room and trade winds blowing throughout the day.

Incredible home base for Kona adventures. As per the description the house is perfect for families of all ages. Proximity to many big island attractions helps lend to active visitors. For our little ones, it was the perfect spot. We’d stay again in a heartbeat.

We loved our stay in this beautiful home. The pictures and description of the property are accurate. Owner/property manager were communicative and easy to reach. We would absolutely recommend this house to anyone and we would love to stay again in the future. So peaceful yet still close to a lot of things.
Beautiful, well-appointed home steps from the beach. Spacious and comfortable for our family of 6 adults. House was well-equipped with beach and kitchen amenities as well as toiletries. Lovely quiet and friendly neighbourhood. We would definitely recommend this home for your next holiday.

Mahalo Rena for the review. Happy guests are our goal.
Please come back soon, until we meet again.
Aloha
We could not have asked for a better place to stay on our vacation. The proximity to snorkel spots and tide pools was next level. Incredibly quaint neighborhood and the house itself was great for a family with a private on-suite for guests. This place was also stocked with beach equipment, and plenty of items for picnics and to-go lunches. If you are a family on the go, or just looking for a beautiful spot to relax our family could not recommend thus house more!

Hale Moe Uhane is a lovely very comfortable home in a great location near the end of Puako Road, perfect for long walks along the ocean trail. It is as clean as any rental can be and has all equipment necessary for a memorable stay. The managers communicated well and were attentive to any issue that arose. We’ll be back!

We had a wonderful stay at the dream house. Everything was as presented in the listing. Check in and check out with Sean and Mary at Two Papayas was wonderful. They were responsive and attentive with our queries. The property itself was lovely. Well supplied with kitchen accoutrements and recreation amenities. We enjoyed our stay greatly and would return without hesitation

Richard and his friends were wonderful guests. He was responsive and clear, appreciative and has a good sense of humor. I love that they enjoyed the Puako experience, whales, turtles and all. Richard and the other guests are just the kind of group we love. We hope they will return for yet another magical experience.
Aloha
The house was terrific with a great kitchen, several comfortable communal spaces, and nicely appointed private spaces. Consequently, our party could happily spend 10 days doing a variety of activities: reading, playing ping pong, watching TV, doing yoga -- all interspersed with outside fun, including walking the beach path, swimming in the bay, snorkeling and body boarding at nearly Hapuna beach. The house was spectacular -- the beds and furniture comfortable, the kitchen well appointed, the outside space peaceful. We would love to spend more time at Hale Moe' Uhane.
Beautiful home, exquisitely furnished in a wonderful location.
This beautiful home is so well equipped and designed, on a quiet street in Puako Beach. It’s clear that the owner has devoted considerable attention to making the property welcoming and comfortable for guests, with everything you need in the kitchen, four spacious bedrooms, and beach supply room. The location is simply outstanding. A 3-minute walk to the beach allows whale watching, turtle viewing and gorgeous sunsets. Nearby resorts offer restaurants, shopping and other amenities, but relaxing in this private getaway is a pleasure unavailable at more crowded hotels. This was a family vacation of a lifetime.

Richard and his family were amazing guests. So respectful of the house and the island. We love that. You are welcome anytime. So glad you enjoyed an amazing week at our beloved home.
Mahalo, until we meet again
Our family of four ( with two teenagers in tow ), truly enjoyed our stay at Hale Moe' Uhane. The property was as pictured and what you cannot see in photos is that it was fully stocked -- every room had been detailed to be fully livable. We loved the outdoor shower, wrap around veranda, BBQ and hang out area. So grateful for the beach gear too, the colorful beach umbrella gave us much needed shade on many afternoons at nearby Hapuna Beach. Thank you Alex!!! We hope to be back soon.
I used to live in Puako so coming back here was nostalgic. There’s something magical about this place. My husband and I came with some good friends and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. This house has almost everything you could need. Loved playing ping pong and having so much space was nice. Really loved the evenings there on the lanai with the trade winds and the brightest stars you’ll ever see. The kitchen was nice and open and easy to cook. This was such a great spot. I would highly recommend staying here. I’ve stayed at quite a few air b n b’s and this one is one of my favorites.
You can walk across the street and see the ocean, very quiet neighborhood. The only poop happens was our main air conditioner was out for over half our 10 day stay. No offers trying to make it right with rental company on a partial refund. Just a sorry

We strive to be sure everything is in good working order but of course things do happen. I really wish you had reached out to me, the owner. I will always make it right, that’s the spirit of aloha at work. I will email you privately.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Hale Moe' Uhane! This house is so beautiful! The photos don't do it justice. We loved the neighborhood, and beach access points. Our favorite was the Keyhole down the street, where we found fantastic snorkeling! The house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed! We barbecued one night, and played ping pong on other nights! We enjoyed dinners at Meridia, Canoehouse, The Big Island Brewhaus, and the Fish and Hog. We saw wild pigs, turkeys, lots of egrets and other birds. We had plenty of space for three couples. We hope to return soon!
We had a fantastic stay in this home. The owner and property manager couldn’t have been nicer, more thoughtful and more attentive. We arrived to a clean, beautiful home with a tray of Hawaiian treats for us and card wishing my husband and I a happy anniversary. The property manager called throughout the week to ensure we had everything we needed.
The home is across the street from the ocean with multiple access points to beach/ocean/snorkeling areas. It is close to popular destinations, restaurants, shopping, etc…..but the community is somewhat a best kept secret hidden away from the highway so it’s relaxed and quiet.
The house easily accommodated our family of five and was well stocked with everything we needed and more. I would not hesitate returning to this home for future visits to the island.
We were two grandparents, two sons, one daughter-in-law and two grandchildren 2 1/2, and 6. We were all very comfortable
The granddaughters loved playing tag on the lawn. The adults loved the surf break at the end of the road. One son rented a kayak for the week and went fishing.. We all loved the tide pools across the street and snorkeling there. We had lovely dinners each night by bbq and kitchen. Loved the well stocked kitchen.
We tried to eat outside but the light was insufficient (idea for improvement)
Loved the neighborhood feel there, not resorting. Everything worked well.
