Guest access
Once you turn off the B8019 down the dirt road into Borenich Farm, you will see the cottage on the right hand side. Parking has been provided on the grass in front of the wooden and rope fences.
Access to the house is down the concrete ramp, found beyond the rope fence. It takes you between the garden shed and the far wall of the cottage.
Going through the gate you will be presented with the most stunning view of the mountains on the south side of Loch Tummel. The range stretches along all the way to Schiehallion (The Fairy Mountain) towards the West.
Other things to note
The property relies on a septic tank for water disposal. This means that only human waste and toilet paper can be flushed down the toilet. Sanitary and baby products must be placed in the bins provided.
If cooking food with a high fat content, please let the fat cool and solidify in the pan, then scrape it into the bin, rather than washing it down the sink.
The wood burning stove only takes pre-dried wood. This will be provided for you, however if you find yourself needing more, please don't hesitate to contact me via email (provided on site).
As the property is located on a working farm, you will see sheep and cows grazing and feeding. Please don't feed these animals, and treat them with respect. Please make sure gates are left as you found them (open gates remain open, closed ones stay closed).
You have private access to the loch via a 400m long farm track. Come out of the cottage and head down the farm track to the right. This is a rough track, rocks and uneven ground make it unsuitable for buggies/prams.
Fishing is permitted along the shoreline, but the loch is stocked and permits must be obtained either from the tourist information in town or online - see Loch Tummel angling club for prices and rules.
Loch Tummel is a very special loch and is designated a National Scenic Area and a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) so please do not litter. The most important rule is "Leave everything how you found it".
Thank you, and I hope you enjoy your stay.
