Arrived to an extremely clean house that was cozy and comfortable. Cute interior with lots of character. Coffee station welcome sign and plenty of games. Ample space for what you need. Close to New River, Sandstone and the lil town. Was cold and snowy when we arrived and they had been sure to have walk and drive scraped. The host went the extra mile. Very understanding when we had to leave for an emergency. Recommend staying here will plan to be back in summer.
We all enjoyed our stay back in our hometown of Hinton, WV. The location was close to our main event, Train Days! Plus, it was a wonderful, quiet house where we could hear the river. Everything was clean and nice and exceeded our expectations. Thank you for everything.
We came to hike in the woods and enjoyed two days of the outdoors. The house was cozy and well kept. Beds were comfortable, just a bit high up.
The house is in an out of the way area, private and quiet. The run to the road can sneak up on you - pay close attention to the signs.
There was a minor issue with gnats in the common area and we decided to leave a day early. The property owner promptly came over to see the issue and comped a night due to the issue. She was sympathetic and responsive.
This place was super cute and cozy. The location was conveniently located and not that hard to find. The host was flexible and allowed us a little extra time at check out to which we spent enjoying on the front porch this beautiful fall morning.
The home was clean and comfortable. The kitchen had no stocked pantry items so if you plan on cooking while there you will need to bring everything with you (although there are two nearby grocery stores). The location was perfect for checking out the nearby state and national parks which was why I chose it. It felt safe and was a quiet location. I would go back if ever in the area again.
Easy to find; across the road from the river; quiet and peaceful!
Great little house; very clean; well stocked--cookies, snack cakes, chips, popcorn....
Window A/C units in living room and botb bedrooms; both beds are very comfortable but extremely high
This was a very nice, quiet place to stay. The sulphur smell in the water was a little unpleasant but I had extra water for things like drinking and brushing my teeth, other than that it didn't bother me. The bed was comfortable. Communication with owner was very prompt.
My boyfriend and I met here for a long weekend together (Friday-Sunday) to celebrate me graduating nursing school and to spend some time together because we are long distance right now. It was a weekend I will never forget. The views were amazing. The food at the local shops was amazing. Rhonda was amazing (she even left me and card/gift card for graduation!). Everything was perfect. The only thing I would have changed was to have a longer stay there.
The house was comfortable and nicely decorated . It is not on the river, cannot see the river from the house, but you can hear it from the porch. Snacks and coffee/hot chocolate were there for guests. The beds were comfortable but really high.
We really enjoyed our time here, the only issue was the very unpleasant smell of the water(sulphur smell). The host kindly had bottled water for use in the home.
Overall, our stay during Hinton Railroad Days was great. The house is extremely hard to find in the dark. We missed the street twice. No outdoor lighting or signage made finding it literally, a shot in the dark. Once inside, we found it to be quite inviting. Pretty decor, clean, well stocked with snacks, excellent refrigerator with ice maker.
Only issues we could see that could use improvement were: extremely stinky water, extra hand towels needed in bathroom, bedside tables needed in both bedrooms, stools to assist with getting on the super high beds would be great, internet is unreliable, stairs to front porch are dangerous.
We enjoyed our stay in this charming, very clean home. We only rated four out of five stars for location based on the distance we had to travel to see some of our points of interest and due to the location. We felt comfortable in the area. Sandstone Falls & Grandview trails were definitely worth visiting. Over an hour drive to New River Gorge Bridge and trails. We gave up close proximity to the attractions In lieu of a great price of this home. We would stay in this home again if we were ever in Hinton again.
