About this property

Sister Bear Cabin with Treetop Views &Deck

Summary:
This serene piece of paradise is just what you need to escape to the woods, but with all the comforts of home!

The Space:
Up on a hill in the Sierra Cedars neighborhood of Shaver Lake, this incredible cabin has tons of outdoor space for exploring, sledding, and parking. The large lower deck and two upper balconies provide a great vantage point of the beautiful forest views, wildlife, and bird watching. Warm up by the fire, cook gourmet meals in the kitchen, or BBQ and have dinner under the stars. Three bedrooms, two full baths, spacious common areas, central heating, and updated will all the modern conveniences you'll need to feel right at home!

Guest Access:
There are no shared spaces, guests have access to the entire property which includes the cabin, driveway, front and back yard.

The Neighborhood:
Perfectly situated in the prestigious mountain community of Sierra Cedars, the cabin is about a 5 minute drive to restaurants and shops, 10 minutes to Shaver Lake, and 30 minutes to China Peak Ski Resort and Huntington Lake. Unaffected by recent fires, the surrounding area is lush, green, and serene. Conveniently located near many trailheads, you have the option to take a rigorous hike or just a leisurely walk down the paved road. The cabin is easy to find and offers plenty of flat parking (the driveway itself is narrow and steep, but parking at the top is flat). For day trip ideas, look at Mono Hot Springs, local hikes to waterfalls like Rancheria Falls, head to Shaver Stables, Basilwood Farm, Mono Winds Casino, and Dinkey Creek.

Getting Around:
We suggest using your own vehicle to get around.  You are more than welcome to walk, jog, or bike around the neighborhood! 4 wheel drive and tire chains are strongly encouraged during winter months, and may be required by California Highway Patrol if there's snow in the forecast.  It's not uncommon for the roads to close when there is heavy snow fall.  Make sure to keep an eye on your weather forecast.

Other Things to Note:
Set uphill from the road, a rather steep driveway with a sharp turn leads up to the cabin. Once you're up the driveway, there is plenty of flat parking.

Right now, the fireplace remote is not working. So, you have to open the doors and then there's a little button at the bottom that you push. This issue is - the doors get REALLY hot - so turning the fireplace off is sketchy but if you are aware of how hot the doors get, you should be ok.

Lovely Cabin

Beautiful cabin, very well equipped. We loved the decks and balconies. The kitchen is updated and has everything. The upstairs bedrooms had high ceilings and were spacious.and both had balconies.

Great stay

Clean, had all amenities needed. Good size cabin with wonderful outside space for BBQ and hanging out. Recommend to check there’s enough propane for guess. The google maps send you to the right address but when you arrive at night it’s harder to find because it’s pitch black. Maybe include TVs in both rooms and/or updated smart TV in the living room.

Snow Weekend

The cabin is nice a bit out dated. Fireplace did not work so maintenance had to come and light it. He also did have issues. No blower and knogs needed a pot holder to turn. Kitchen has absolutely everything you will need. Nice having a dryer for wet snow gear. Main issue the driveway had not been cleared so we were not able to get up to the cabin for several hours this was a major issue on management side, and trash from the previous renters had not been removed!

We loved this property!

We got lucky enough to get an amazing snow fall our second night and couldn’t get enough of the winter wonderland. Check in was so easy. I wish they listed all of the added things they have because I didn’t need anything but food! We were constantly shocked they had EVERYTHING we needed. Even a first aid kit with motrin in it (my son started not feeling good and we cheered when we found it)! Showers were stocked and they had plenty of towels. We brought sleds but the last day saw a garage full! We wanted to stay an extra night so badly😍. Our favorite amenities were the fireplaces in the upstairs bedrooms! So easy to use, beautiful, and soo warm! It was nice our kids could pick their room temperature and we could pick ours. The beds upstairs were very and a memory foam topper would’ve made a world of difference! Our kids slept great but my husband and I were hurting after. We didn’t use the downstairs room at all but on the last day I noticed it had a soft topper so we’ll sleep in there next time! The other bummer was the house cleaner showing up 15 minutes early, I thought she’d wait in her car but she she came in and started cleaning around us while we were trying to load the car and my kids were changing into dry clothes. It was pretty awkward and frustrating. We were loaded up in our car at 11 to leave but we had to go in and ask her to move her vehicle so we could get out of the driveway. Obviously not a huge deal but that was the only hiccup! We can’t wait to come stay again!

Good spot for exploring

Good location for exploring the sno-parks and a comfortable house to relax. It is also a very quiet neighborhood, which was great. We were a little disappointed that the remote for the fireplace was nowhere to be found, so we did not have access to that, and also had to purchase some basic things like dish soap and dish sponge/brush to do dishes.

Nice and quiet area

Really nice place, what I really liked about this cabin is that they have everything you need, so you don’t have to carry extras, they have snow boards that my 8y/o enjoyed using them; the kitchen has everything you need to prepare your meals; bedrooms are spacious and beds really cozy, baths have shampoo, soap, lotion, towels. We were able to go for a nice long walk before the rain. We’ll go back again to this place in the future.

House was nice. Wish the decks were cleaned

The house itself was nice and had plenty of room for all of us. No AC which I feel should be stated more clearly so guests are aware, however the heat wasn’t too bad especially downstairs. The beds were comfortable for the most part. The bathrooms were nice. There were tons of extra blankets but I doubt they get cleaned on a regular basis based on the amount of blankets per room but it’s nice to know they are there. The front deck was where we hung out the most and I liked the big table it had out there. We are most all our meals out there and played games. However it was covered in dust and cobwebs. The back deck had what looked to be a table and chairs but it was not set up for us nor was it clean. Again tons of cobwebs, dust and debris back there. I wish it had been put together like the pictures show. We may have also enjoyed sitting out there as well. We used the grill on that back deck as well however it was extremely dirty and we cleaned it before we left. I feel the cleanliness of the inside was up to par (besides the upstairs closet having a used water bottle and junk in it) but not the outside. I would stay here again maybe in the winter instead of the summer. Also something to note the pictures do not show but the driveway is actually very steep, and parking can be a little tight.
