TimberStar Lodge is your perfect home base to relax, recharge, and make lasting memories with family and friends! Embark on a scenic journey through lush aspens and towering pines to this haven of peace, where you're close to town but feel worlds away.
Built in 2022, this roomy 2,000 sq ft single-level home is the epitome of comfort and connection. With an open-concept design, it’s perfect for gathering with loved ones or spending quality time with your significant other.
Savor nature on the private Nature Trail, an easy hike through our 4 acres highlighting the thrill of living by engaging your five senses, or on your expansive deck, complete with a hot tub, BBQ, and a private front yard fire pit—ideal for cozy nights under the stars.
Inside, the spacious, fully-equipped kitchen invites culinary adventures, while two relaxing living rooms, three beautiful bedrooms, a versatile den/playroom/bedroom, and two luxurious baths, all with soaring 9' ceilings ensure there’s room for everyone to spread out.
You decide the temperature with the thermostat and air conditioning remote controls. Ceiling and room fans help keep eveyone comfortable.
Just FYI, as hosts/owners, we have over 300 5-star reviews on Another Big Booking site. Our cleaning fee is purposefully low so you only pay for what you use!
Though TimberStar Lodge was thoughtfully designed with our grandkids in mind—featuring plenty of toys, books, movies, and a thrilling outdoor rope swing—we haven’t forgotten the magic of a mountain retreat for two. This lodge is the perfect escape for couples looking to reconnect and rekindle their connection. The master bedroom, with its heavenly king-sized log bed, sets the stage for exciting nights, while the luxurious bath invites couples to indulge in a truly unforgettable experience. Step into the oversized shower, where you can share intimate moments in complete serenity. Or take a nature bath by meandering through the forest where you will find our "Five Senses Nature Trail" At just under 1/4 mile, immerse your senses in the sight, sounds, smells, feel and even taste on this easy, rejuvenating walk through the property. Starting with a pause at the relaxing hammock, you'll enjoy the thrill of finding each relaxation station by simply following the little pink flags. Kids can follow the flags to find all the hidden painted rocks to keep or re-hide along the path.
Located in the “Banana Belt” of the Colorado Rockies, Florissant enjoys more moderate temperatures than some of our other mountain towns. We rarely get more than a few inches of snow in the winter and temps tend to hover in the 70’s and 80’s in the summer, although Mother Nature has been known to throw us an occasional curve ball! So, we have extra heaters and blankets in the chilly months and wall-mounted air conditioning in the warmer months. You get to control your comfort! And don't forget, the South Platte river is just minutes away for a cool float in the (4) tubes we provide. Want to ski? Just 1 hr. 20 minutes from Breckenridge Ski Resort!
Florissant Fossil Beds is just a 15-minute drive yet far enough away from light pollution to provide dark, star-filled skies. From the park, it is possible to see the Milky Way, other galaxies, star clusters, nebulae, planets, comets, and much more.
In 2021, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument received certification as an International Dark Sky Park from the International Dark Sky Association (IDSA).
Please note: There is absolutely no smoking of any kind inside the house and no fires of any kind allowed, which means no outdoor candles, bonfires, campfires or fireworks. We do have a propane fire pit you can use year round. Smoking is allowed on the back deck or on the front porch but please be extra responsible and use the provided ashtray. We are in a high fire danger zone.
Due to the owner's pet allergies, we do not allow pets at TimberStar Lodge. Please inquire before bringing a service animal. We also do not use scented cleaning products.
Our driveway is rather steep. If rain or snow is expected, please park in the upper parking area, even if you have 4-wheel drive. If you park in the lower parking and you get stuck, you will be responsible for getting yourself out. We do everything we can to keep the path clear, but it's Colorado.

About the host
Hosted by Viola Horne

My husband, Steve, and I live in Colorado Springs near two of our three grown sons and their children. Steve is an IT engineer and I am a Life Coach. We are also actors for a local murder mystery dinner show! We bought this land in 2020 to build a family cabin and expand our short term rental retirement business. After opening our first STR in 2016, we fell in love with helping people make the most of their vacations. We are Christians who believe that God loves all His children and we hope to make your experience at TimberStar Lodge a lasting memory of joy, peace and fun.
Why they chose this property
TimberStar Lodge is located in idyllic Florissant, Colorado atop a mountain surrounded by the beauty and serenity of nature. It's very quiet here. Sometimes the trees whisper their hushed greetings while bathing in the gentle sunshine. Located in the "banana belt" of Colorado, Florissant enjoys warm, sunny days in both summer and winter. We are sorry, although the house is all on one level, we do have a step up into the house and the doors are not wide enough for a wheelchair. We are completely non-smoking inside the house. We are also pet-free so no need to worry about pet odor or dander.
While TimberStar may feel remote, we are just 10 minutes from several restaurants, a small grocery/bait store, a liquor store and nightlife.

What makes this property unique
We have a 4.95 star average on another hosting site for the unit we host out of our home. This home is brand new, built in 2022. You'll be very near to many of the attractions that make Colorado an ideal vacation spot. The location is quiet and serene but you are less than an hour's drive to iconic state parks, hiking, gambling, nightlife, kid's adventures, shopping and much more.
Studies show that getting out of the rat race and back to nature can improve your mental health ("Green Spaces Aren't Just For Nature - They Boost Our Mental Health, Too - NewScientist, 3/2021) as well as your overall health (5 Ways Nature Can Improve Your Health - EEHealth.org, 6/2018). Known as Forest Bathing, surrounding yourself with the still, majestic calm of the earth's indigenous species helps lower blood pressure, anxiety, depression and overall stress. Meander through our four treed acres and feel your spirit come back to life.
When it's time to settle in, gather in the expansive kitchen to cook a gourmet meal or simply enjoy some wine and cheese at the 9' bar. Or retreat into the restful family room where you can view the forest through the double sliding glass door or stream your favorite series on the 65" Smart TV. Did we mention there's a 6-person hot tub just outside the family room door? Heaven!
There's plenty of room for the little ones to roam and play, too. The twin room is a restful place for them to nap or play quietly while the den off the kitchen allows kiddos to play games or enjoy some of the toys we've stocked there. They can also put on one of the many kids' movies we have or stream their favorite Netflix entertainment. The outdoors is a great way for them to expend some energy, too. There's plenty of space to explore and imagine on our 4 acres including a small climbing structure near the enclosed back deck. In the winter, the driveway makes an excellent sledding hill!
