About this property

Views for Days – Ocean Casita Near Surfer Town

Views for Days Above Dominical Beach

Perched just 200 meters from the Pacific, this three-bedroom, three-bath home is the perfect blend of comfort and authentic Costa Rica. With sweeping 180° views, Casa Mira Mar hovers over the waves of Dominical Beach and offers a front-row seat to unforgettable sunsets. The house sits just outside the cool surfer town of Dominical, known for its laid-back vibe, great waves, and lively local scene.

The Location

From the house, you’re minutes from Playa Dominical and Playa Dominicalito, less than 5 minutes from the Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge, and only 20 minutes from the famous Whale’s Tail National Park. Manuel Antonio National Park makes an easy 45-minute day trip, while Corcovado and the Osa Peninsula are close enough for a weekend adventure.

The Home

The heart of the house is the spacious covered deck, where guests naturally gather to lounge, dine, or just soak up the views. Downstairs, an outdoor patio offers another ocean-facing perch for watching the sunset with a drink in hand. A small private pool provides a refreshing spot to cool off between beach trips.
Inside, the home features two full kitchens stocked for cooking tropical meals, and furnishings crafted from locally made hardwoods that add warmth and character. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, and from every bed you can wake to the sound of waves and a panoramic view of the ocean.

Family-Friendly & Relaxed

Perfect for families, couples, or friends, the upstairs deck is fully baby-proofed, and the lush yard is filled with mango, citrus, coconut palms, and flowers. Wildlife is abundant, from colorful parakeets to monkeys who love the papayas.

Beaches & Access

While the beach is a short walk down the hill and across the street, we recommend driving unless you’re sure-footed, as the gravel road is steep. Within minutes you’ll find multiple beaches where you can park under shady sea almond trees and watch the surf roll in.
This is not luxury — it’s authentic Costa Rica at its best. A relaxed, family-friendly home base with views for days, surf town charm, and adventure all around.

beautiful house... amazing location

I spent a week at the Beach Bungalow in July. It is hard to narrow down the best thing about the house..... but if I had to, it would be LOCATION. You can hear and see the waves crashing from the bedrooms. Sitting on the deck, drinking coffee, and doing yoga was the perfect way to start the morning. The town of Dominical has a safe and fun feel to it..... loved surfing and drinking fruit smoothies at the traditional "soda". This house felt like the perfect 'home base' for adventuring. We went to nauyaca falls, the whales tail (soo beautiful), hikes in the mountains, poza azul, and manuel antonio national park. The bungalow was clean with beautiful hardwood furniture, and an artistic feel. ryan, the owner, is knowledgable and really easy to work with. He was really helpful in preparing us for our trip. We are already dreaming about our next trip to the beach bungalow. I would recommend this house to anyone looking to unwind, or head out for an epic adventure!

Perfect location

The property was perfect for our family of 6. We had to reschedule our 1st trip due to family emergency and Jan was fabulous and so patient with us . We arrived and met the house manager with keys and got eight to our vacation. Edwin ( house manager ) helped us with everything and was there anytime we needed him . He gave us great recommendations for local sites . House was plenty of space with room to spare for us. Sunsets were amazing ! Def will be staying here on our next stay.

Great place to stay!

If amazing views, and a great home are your thing, then you will enjoy Casa Miramar. There were 6 of us total, my wife, two teenage kids and my elderly parents, and the house was perfect. The location couldn't be better, the pool and large outdoor areas were very nice. Had iguanas, and toucans visiting us daily, and the view is simply the best. Loved our time there.

Terrasse exceptionnelle

Perfect!

The house is in a perfect location; there's about 8 surf breaks within 3 miles, 2 of which you can walk to (straight up hill on the return so, driving definitely easier). There's a decent market a minute down the road, and 2 big supermercados 7-10 minutes towards uvita. The town is awesome, about 2 minutes by car with awesome restaurants and shops, all a small walk to a beach with really decent waves by the river mouth. The air conditioning in the rooms was VITAL, but ours worked so well that our friends in a nearby house kept sleeping in the bunk room since their AC didn't work as well as ours. Despite the ocean being about 94 degrees in the shallows, the pool was perfectly cool all the time, and we still can't figure out how. There were some bees around the pool pretty constantly, but they never bothered us and we had 7 people in our group all in there at once. Each kitchen has all the needed equipment, so we were able to make breakfast every morning and filet the fish we caught to make fish tacos for everyone. You can definitely hear the cars from the back patio, but it didn't matter because it was such a spectacular view. So many thumbs up, we'd come back in a heartbeat and regretted not staying longer.

Great place for birdwatching! Beautiful ocean view.

I stayed at MiraMar with my adult children - we were 5 adults and one small child. The house has an amazing view out over the ocean and a lovely large deck where you can see lots of birds. It is close to several beaches but not really accessible walking. We found the kitchen to be quite small, although it was well equipped for making basic meals. The pool is a plus. It has air conditioning in the bedrooms which was an advantage. The house has plenty of bathrooms, one for each of the three rooms. The wifi is good. Overall we enjoyed our stay but I need to mention that it is quite close to the main road and we experienced very loud noise from the large trucks passing by, especially over the weeked.

Wonderful

We loved Miramar. The view was fabulous, we could see the beach below, and the sunsets were wonderful. Jane was very helpful for advice about Costa Rica in general and how to reach the house from San Jose. Edwin was always available, even when we arrived late at night. He had great suggestions for activities, and also came immediately when we had a problem with hot water. Although there was a road below, it did not disturb us. The pool was great.

wish i could stay forever

We had a great stay at Casa Mira Mar. My husband and our 2 small children loved every minute of our time in Dominical. The house was well set up for kids and we spent a lot of our time enjoying the view from the upstairs deck. You can see the ocean from each room, which made waking up a pleasure everyday. Edwin, the manager, was a treasure. He helped us plan our adventures and was an mazing resource. We are already planning our next trip!

Lovely View, Great Home

This is not your typical sit around the house and watch TV home. It's great for sleeping, light cooking and sitting on the deck to watching the surf but does not have a central living room. We really didn't need one though because we were usually out enjoying the culture. When we did want to regroup, watching the ocean from the deck was wonderful, even into the evening. There are 3 bathrooms with showers which made it nice for all of us to have our own. The beds were comfortable and very clean. The A/C worked great and were glad we had it. Edwin, the house manager, was terrific to work with. Anything we needed and more he was available to help. He spoke great English too. The house came with a landline phone which was available to use for local calls. The neighbors were great and we felt very safe. It is only a 5 minute walk to the beach but the driveway is extremely steep so you have to be in pretty good shape to walk up it. We choose to drive it. The thing I liked most about this home was the privacy of each of the rooms from each other. It's a great place to share with other couples.

Perfect spot in a perfect place

This is a fantastic spot, with many many amenities, in a perfect location. I highly recommend it. Great view of the ocean, easy access to surfing and the beach, forests, and waterfalls. The house is comfortable, clean, spacious. Highly recommended.

Dream spot!

Being a wildlife enthusiast, I was pumped to head down to Costa Rica. My friend and I were looking for a spot that not only had amazing wildlife viewing potential, but also close proximity to the beach so we could kick back and enjoy the waves. We ended up deciding on Casa MiraMar and we were both blown away when we arrived. Not only was the house beautiful and spacious, offering daily sunset viewings, but we basically had our own canopy deck for birding! While we were pumped for the close proximity to the amazing wildlife preserve, Hacienda Baru, we were surprised that we didn't even have to leave the house for wildlife viewing opportunities! The beauty of the house, view and proximity to the ocean, and nearby Pacific Lowland Rainforest make this place a no brainer. We will be back!

Very nice place but some things to work on.

Very nice view and a good place to be with family or friends. It have nice rooms and big showers. But The kitchen equipement (glasses, mugs, tupperware...) should be upgrated. The two levels of the house was very useful for everybody. Dominical beach is very beautiful without rocks and very plaisant to swim or surf. We recommend casa MIRA MAR for a lovely trip at Costa Rica. Pura vida!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Casa MiraMar. The view was amazing. The house was clean. We loved how close the house was to all of the sites and activities we wanted to do. Jane and Ryan (the owners) were very helpful in answering all of our questions before the trip and had great suggestions on places we should experience and see. There is a guest book at the house with others recommendations that we also found extremely helpful. We were able to go on this trip with little planned and had an amazing time. We highly recommend staying here and hope to return again soon!

This is the best spot!

My husband and I, along with our 16-month old son, absolutely loved staying at Casa MiraMar! It exceeded all of our best expectations! In addition to its breath-taking view, we really enjoyed all of the wildlife and close proximity to the beach. As an added bonus, this house is completely child-safe. The nights we stayed there were some of our favorite. Relaxation at its best! We look forward to returning pronto!

Million dollar views, relax in comfort!

This rental is one of a kind! We stayed in the large family room with extremely comfortable bunk beds and a private patio, with adjacent second kitchen and private bathroom. The basement bedroom was air conditioned and a cool get away from the Domincal heat! The upstairs has a beautiful porch that overlooks the ocean, and is the perfect bird watching perch. We dined by candlelight in the evening and awoke to a stunning sunset. This rental is perfect for large families or groups of friends, with enough space for all!

Breathtaking view and wonderful vacation spot!

Casa Miramar is such a wonderful spot. You can hear the pulse of the ocean crashing on the beach from virtually every room in the house. And the deck is such a wonderful place to relax and take in the spectacular view. We could hear howler monkeys in the rainforest behind us and see surfers on the beaches below. It's a short walk to a beach that's not overcrowded and you can buy cold coconuts (pipas frias) right on the beach! There is also an excellent restaurant down the road if you don't feel like cooking one night. The kitchen is fully stocked and the rooms are very comfortable. We can't wait to come back!

Perfect spot for a relaxing beach vacation!

Casa Miramar was the perfect place to kick off our honeymoon! We spent a week there relaxing, recharging and enjoying all of the beautiful sights in the Dominical area. The house itself is the perfect place to relax, we spent many hours sitting on the deck watching the ocean and enjoying meals and snacks that we prepared using the fully stocked kitchen. A few other things that were great about the place - it was spotlessly cleaned prior to our arrival, the decorations were lovely so we really enjoyed the space and the curtains are nice and dark so you can really block out the early morning light if you want to sleep in (which we did!). The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare meals and there is a washer and dryer for sandy beach towels. The house is set up on a hill which gives you a feeling of total privacy, but it's not so far up the hill that you feel isolated or that it is inconvenient. There is a really useful house handbook that we referred to in planning our daily activities - the handbook has information from the house owners and reviews from previous guests. There were only 2 of us, but the house would also be great for 4 as there is another very private suite downstairs with a private bathroom. We spent one night in a local hotel and can say that aside from all the other great points about this house, it is a great value. Super clean, comfortable and equipped with modern amenities at a much lower price than local hotels offering similar amenities. I could go on and on about how wonderful the house is - highly highly recommend this place.

Beautiful Views

The house was clean, well-kept and had everything we needed. The walk to the beach is actually a nice little trail that's an enjoyable hike too. The owners were responsive & proactive with information, and there was a local house manager who was on call during our stay. He even called to check in and make sure we had everything we needed. The sunset views each night were incredible. You really couldn't ask for a better view. We had a wonderful time!

Funky Beach Bungalow / Casa Miramar

Holy Cannoli! This place is a rainforest paradise. I took a cab (not the cheapest way) to Dominical from the airport and arrived at dusk. The house manager met me at Plaza Pacifico and I picked up some essentials and went to the house. The internet is fast (I was able to stream videos/music) and I brought my laptop and emailed everyone to them know that I was there safe. Then I drank beers on the porch watching and listening to the ocean. I also danced to my ipod by myself on the porch because I was so excited to be there. My travel partner arrived a few days later and I had already done a bit of exploring on my own. I showed her the secret entrance to the beach, introduced her to friends I made in town, and brought her to Domi's in Plaza Pacifico. Domi's is a family run restaurant and my favorite place for lunch. Tortilla Flats was my second favorite food and they are right on the beach and the view is amazing. There is an English massage therapist I went to several times that sets up shop on the beach and does table massages at her house, I think her company is something like "Massage Ink". And Bamboo Yoga Play was AWESOME. The owner Sophia? Is amazing. This is where I started practicing yoga 5 days a week. I used Dominical Surf Adventures to go on a rafting trip. The guides were really cool and taught us a lot about the flora and fauna. My sister ziplined and loved it, but the heights are not for me. Edwin is the House Manager and lives close by and ALWAYS answers his phone. He is a great guy and will give you advice or help on anything you need. He made me feel like I had a cousin in town to help me out if I needed it. I highly recommend renting The Funky Beach Bungalow. It is around a mile or so from town and I did not have a car the whole time, because I was unwinding and wanted to be on foot for a change. You should definitely rent a car so you can check out Quepos and Mauel Antonio and other attractions/towns that are less than an hour drive from Dominical.

I first came to Costa Rica as an English Teacher back in 1998. I was fresh out of college and was interested in exploring the planet and learning Spanish. Costa Rica proved to be the most ideal place on earth for me. Its the perfect nature lover's paradise. I love the biological diversity, tropical cuisine and most all i have come to love and respect the people of Costa Rica. I have traveled the country extensively and can give advice on all Costa Rican travel plans.

Why they chose this property

Although Costa Rica has many great beaches, we love Dominical the best. The town is very manageable and the house is a 5 minute drive to shopping, banks, tours, surfing restaurants, bars, night life and a national park. The house itself is not like other houses which are 15 minutes drive from the ocean. This casita is so close to everything and that just makes more beach time and less car time which I like on vacation. The mountains meet the ocean here like nowhere else in Costa Rica. You can be swimming in the ocean at Dominicalito beach and walk 5 minutes up the hill and be bathing under a 20 foot waterfall at posa azul. I also feel safe in Dominical. I like the eclectic crowd and the tranquillo vibe. Its a magical spot in the world and I feel good when I'm there drinking a pipa (coconut water) on the beach.

What makes this property unique

Being a two minute walk from a secluded beach is the most unique aspect of this home. The casita is so close to Playa Dominicalito, Playa Dominical, Hacienda Baru and Posa Azul Waterfall and swimming hole. Being so close to the ocean and having an ocean view are priceless. Also being so close to the great restaurants, grocery stores and tour operators of Dominical is very convenient. Its a superb house and location. Also, the house has a guest book that has descriptions of many activities to do in the area. That way each visitor can add his/her input and we can all learn from those experiences making our short time there more enjoyable. Its like a house journal that holds the memories and experiences of all who enjoy themselves there and want to share their stories.
