***IMPORTANT***
Please be advised that this home is located on a rural road on an elevated property. All guests must have 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicles are required to access the home, especially in the winter and during rough weather conditions. We are not responsible for vehicles getting stuck or having issues accessing the property. Thanks for your understanding!

During Summer - It is uncommon for mountain homes to have AC. The home does not have AC but has various windows that can be opened with ceiling fans in the bedrooms and living areas.

During Winter - Winter snowfall can vary during the winter months. For guests staying from late October through late April, AN AWD OR 4WD VEHICLE IS REQUIRED. Most winter storms will provide about 5" of snow at one time. Our driveway is steep and can be problematic for cars not properly equipped to handle snow. The neighborhood roads and driveway are regularly plowed as needed during the winter months.

During icy, wet, or slippery weather conditions, please use extra caution when walking on the exterior stairs, patio deck, and on walkways. We are not responsible for any injuries or accidents resulting from slips or falls on the property. However, we will do our best to keep the driveway, stairs, and home entrances cleared and safe for all of our guests.

Perched on a secluded hilltop in the heart of South Park Valley, this three‑story log chalet offers a true taste of high‑country living. Surrounded by 20 acres of evergreens and backed by views of the Rocky Mountains, the home blends rustic charm with modern comfort. Floor‑to‑ceiling windows flood the sunlit living spaces with alpine views, while knotty pine paneling, a crackling wood‑burning fireplace and cathedral ceilings create a warm, lodge‑like atmosphere.

Space and layout
Spread across roughly 2,500 square feet, the main level welcomes you with a sunroom – an ideal nook for morning coffee or a quiet read. The adjacent living room is outfitted with a plush sectional, 65‑inch smart TV and freestanding fireplace, inviting evenings spent playing board games or trading stories after a day of adventure. A fully equipped kitchen anchors the common area with a 4‑burner gas stove, espresso machine, full‑size refrigerator and dishwasher. A six‑seat dining table and five‑seat breakfast bar provide room for group meals from casual breakfasts to hearty dinners.

Sleeping arrangements
Each of the four bedrooms offers its own sense of retreat. Two king bedrooms on the main floor share a full bathroom with a tub‑shower combo and stone vanity. Upstairs, the loft master suite enjoys vaulted ceilings trimmed with wood beams, mountain views, a king bed plus an extra twin, a 60‑inch smart TV and a private ensuite bath. The loft also houses a dedicated workspace with a vintage banker’s lamp, extra monitor and balance ball chair for those needing to stay connected. On the lower level, a bunk room with twin‑over‑twin and twin‑over‑queen bunks sleeps children and solo travelers comfortably; a third bathroom with a bath‑shower combo and stone vanity sits just across the hall.

Outdoor living
Step onto the expansive log deck to breathe in crisp mountain air and watch the sky turn rosy at dusk. A BBQ grill and picnic seating invite alfresco meals against a backdrop of peaks and pine trees. Please note that Park County regulations prohibit outdoor fires, so the fire pit is not available for use. Wildlife sightings are common here, and on clear nights you can marvel at a sky full of stars. In winter months some patio furniture is stored away, but the view remains spectacular year‑round.

Amenities and extras
Practical touches ensure a worry‑free stay. You’ll find a washer and dryer, high‑speed Starlink WiFi, a ceiling fan and heating for comfort in any season. The kitchen comes stocked with coffee, tea and cooking basics. Bathrooms include shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Exterior security cameras, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit add peace of mind. Your furry companions are welcome, and there is a one‑car garage with additional covered parking.

Location and activities
Nine minutes from the historic mining town of Fairplay and about forty minutes from Breckenridge, the chalet serves as a convenient base for mountain exploration. Hike Reinecker Ridge, Sheep Mountain and countless National Forest trails, soak in nearby hot springs or hit the slopes at Breckenridge, Keystone or Copper. After a day of skiing, fishing or cycling, return home to unwind by the fireplace or gaze at the stars from the patio. Whether you’re seeking outdoor adventure or a quiet retreat, this mountain home offers a welcoming haven in the Rockies.

Great place to stay!!

This cabin was a wonderful place to stay, and has plenty of room to stretch your legs in the surrounding trees. It had everything we needed, and the owners were very helpful and prompt any time we had a questions. It was an excellent experience, and we appreciate the opportunity to stay here!!

Winter Family Vacation

This was perfect. It was quite & away from everything but a short drive to town. We all enjoyed the sledding, snowball fight and just walking around in the snow. We saw a moose and tracks of other wildlife. The house was clean and well stocked. We look forward to making another family vacation here.

Quad trip

The house is great. We had a good time on the area trails. The mosquitoes make the deck unusable after 5 Just a couple small maintenance items like the main floor tub drains slow and the water pressure gets weak during busy times
