Lake cabin

Hand-built, four bedroom home on nearly an acre of wooded land and shoreline along the 120 acre Marion Millpond (annually stocked with panfish, pike and bass, 6 mph limit). Inside, 2,200 sq. ft. of space for the whole family, or families. The dining room and living room flow together under 18 foot ceilings. Outside, two screen porches with room to dine al fresco (no bugs!) Dock your boat on the pier, cast a line, sit next to the fire and swim, all in the backyard. Have the quintessential Wisconsin vacation.

The pictures made it look nicer than it was. A lot of low head clearance on the second floor. Difficult to find light switches. No basic condiments (salt and pepper) in the kitchen. Light above the stove didn’t work. Dishwasher was unusable. Minimal bathroom supplies. Easy to check out. Only had to wash, dry and put away dishes. Take out trash and turn off AC.

Value property. Town has a couple of places you can walk to for cocktails and food.

We used this as a based for motorcycle rides. It's close to nice rides around the area.

Positives-tidy, large gathering area, games, good shower, dishwasher, ample blankets etc. Opportunities- more rustic and 60’s cabin than anticipated, upstairs has very low ceilings, having heat turned up upon arrival and timely responses from host would have been appreciated.

Had a great weekend with the family of all ages. Lake/pond is a great place to kayak or paddle board but not as much swim. Good for youth fiahing as many little ones were caught. Enough beds to sleep but singles are small and more designed for kids than adults.

Great stay

Four days with 4 adults and 3 & 1 year old. Three year old caught her first fish! She was so excited! Property large and has front and back screen houses which was great because we had some rain. Great supply of games and toys for kids. Beach and playground close and not busy at all. Kitchen well supplied as we cooked every meal. I would definitely recommend this property.

Cute, quirky cabin

Cute, quirky cabin with many unique qualities. You can tell the owner has done a lot to fix up the property and make it enjoyable! We loved sitting outside around the campfire and watching all the ducks and geese swim by and catching so many little fish! Our kids loved the playground area just down the road, but the beach was less than desirable (nothing to do with the cabin- just a location heads up).

Property was as advertised--roomy, quirky--with well laid-out/supplied kitchen. Need tech savvy to work TVs (2). We were there to meet up with family at Caroline Colorama trail ride. Oct weather was hot (upper 80s) but we didn't need or use a/c. Good place to bring several young kids; one b/r has 4 twin beds. Great restaurant tip: The Vault in Clintonville.There are canoes and firewood--but you can't use them.Be advised host is not quick to respond to pre-trip messages.

Not for older adults.

It is very quirky. There were not any bath towels. The tv only works with an Amazon account, which I do not have. We also had wasps inside.

We do have bath towels. They are in the mirror cabinet in the bathroom. And again very sorry about the wasp issue. We had not seen any until that weekend and had the wasps removed as soon as we could.

The property was unusual in a few ways, but the space was generally fine for our group. The beds were comfortable and we had enough towels, dishes, utensils, etc. There was a bit of a musky smell upon entering, and an unpleasant odor from the frig that required extra cleaning to address. The host was responsive to our questions although the responses were often delayed.

Why they chose this property

My wife and I fell in love with this home and the small town its in immediately upon visit. It was hand-built by the foreman of the local plywood and veneer plant as one of the first homes built along the Marion Millpond (more of a lake). The logs and boards used to construct the home are impressively long and robust. The home has its quirks and questionable design choices, but that's part of the charm.

What makes this property unique

Rare to find a home of this size on the water right next to a public beach and park and only a few minutes walk from a city center. Walk to the diner, bike to the drive-in for ice cream or hop around the bars and don't worry about finding a ride back home.
