Bernice and Hannie are wonderful hosts...turns out we had a lot in common. The cottage was everything we needed for our visit to the area. We will definitely book again when we come back! Irma, Eva and Mark
The cottage is in a lovely sunny position, very quiet and the beds are comfortable. It’s not a spacious cottage for 6 adults - the sitting room, main entrance, kitchen and dining area are all the same room; one sofa with 4 seats; very little ‘kitchen’ space but adequate hob and oven. The owner’s family were warm, friendly and helpful. I would stay again if holidaying in Holland, but not with 6 of us, really it suits 4.
We are a family of 2 adults, 2 college students from Colorado, using the cottage as our home base for 10 Magical Days. We did day trips by car or train, coming home late to cook dinner each day. The cottage is on the lake which has a bike/walking path, with breath-taking views of IJsselmeer, migrating birds, sheep, country farms and greenhouses, and modern windmills, making for beautiful morning runs and evening walks. The accommodations worked perfectly for a family of four. The cottage is adjacent to the main house, and the owner was always helpful and interesting to talk with. The bathroom Room is separate from the Shower/Sink Room, and there is an additional Sink in the Master Bedroom. The Kitchen is well-equipped with two induction burners, and a combination microwave/convection oven. There are two large grocery stores in town, a few blocks from the cottage. The flower gardens in both the front and back of the cottage are beautiful. Our only difficulty was finding a laundromat suitable for simultaneous family loads; the nearby outdoor laundromat only had one washer/drier combo, which always seemed to be in use.

Dr. Hermann SauerAm Gänsrasen 19D—36110 Schlitz

I am sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience at our place. We say the cottage is at the ijsselmeer and we do not promise a view of the lake, it is not in the description. We have one price regardless of how many people are staying. As for the tv, it is not broken but we discovered that people bring their own devices and plug it in as a screen to watch. Again, I am very sorry for your experience.
I am a journalist and travel all over te world for work. I understand the importance of 'a home away from home'. I live in both the Netherlands and Canada tuned in with needs and desires of international travelers have and happy to assist with whatever it is you need. I made this a home for you without compromising comfort.
Why they chose this property
This is a very unique property and has a long history. It was build in 1900 and survived the flood of 1916 when de Dyke broke and Andijk flooded. Its style is typical West Friesian with the ornaments and colors you find all through the region. It has a big flower garden to enjoy. Even though the house itself is from the turn of the last century, the cottage is newly remodeled in 2018.
What makes this property unique
We live in a bird reserve. The proximity to the lake, home to migrating birds, ducks and geese will give you the feeling you live in the middle of nature. From the doorstep you are right at the IJsselmeer for recreation.
