Perfect start to the new year

We stayed here during the new year and had an amazing time. The house is in a great location. Quiet, yet close to nightlife. Close to beaches. Very safe area. Beautiful home.

Great location, nicely furnished comfortable house

My husband and I stayed in La Barra for 2 weeks back in November and had a great time. The house is in a great location in quieter La Barra, but close enough to shops and restaurants. The house has a lovely pool which was immaculately clean and any minor problems were quickly resolved by the very helpful local manager. The outside BBQ area was great fun. The only thing we would say is that an outside dining table would have been useful. Overall a very comfortable house which we would recommend to friends and family.

Such a private cute place in La Barra

This was the perfect get-a-way for us in La Barra...you really can walk to the downtown and the beach if you want (about five blocks). The concierge (Mauricio and Mariela) do a phenomenal job of support (they both speak wonderful English which is a plus!). The house can easily sleep six or seven but two was perfect. The pool is very private and wonderful...quiet neighborhood and very well maintained. We stayed for five days and it could not have worked out better. The owner is very helpful and accommodating. Would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a more private, quiet retreat in Punta del Esta region...easy driving to all the coastal locations. Nothing but positives!

Súper bonito jardín, todo me me encantó!

Súper bonito jardín para disfrutar del clima y la piscina. Me quedé aquí con mi esposo y mis tres hijos. Fue perfecto para nosotros. Supermercado, estación de servicio, parque infantil, parques, etc. todo estaba a una corta distancia a pie del vila. La cocina y la parrilla estaban bien equipadas para organizar una fiesta en casa. El sistema de sonido y la televisión también son de marcas de alta calidad. El mobiliario es increíble. ¡Tal vez esta casa tiene la mejor cama en la que he dormido! Los baños son muy elegantes. Te sientes como un invitado en un hotel de 5 estrellas. ¡Muy recomendable!

Fabulous house

Just a perfect fit of what I was looking for. Well maintained. Eye for detail. Great comfortable beds. Good water pressure in the showers. Fun swimming pool and garden area. Fast internet. Good neighborhood. Close to the ocean. I could go on for a while. I'll be back. :)

Great beds, best location. Luxurious and private!

What a great experience! I got received like a king with some small surprises. The beds felt like heaven, great quality furniture. The kitchen was fully equiped. We had everything we needed to cook or to throw a party. The house is located in the heart of la barra with bars and restaurants right there. We didn't have a car because we didn't need it. I even walked daily to the beach with my surfing gear to enjoy the waves. It was only 5min walk! Outside there is a pool , BBQ zone and green zones to relax with friends and family. It's totally private. The house itself was so fancy. I would really recommend this place! But leave some space for when I get back, please!!

Excelent property!!!!

I stayed at this amazing house in January 2016 with my teenager sons. Booking and payment of the house was hassle free and secure. The house is very well appointed, with everything you may need for a perfect holiday. Everything was perfect : welcome by Mariela, advices, house decoration and services, location, outdoor area with it's wonderful pool and BBQ. Walking distance to everywhere, good internet, plenty of parking space, clean and new interiors, can't say enough of this property. We even booked an extra week while staying there!

Espectacular!

Pasamos 10 días con nuestros hijos adolescentes. La casa es muy cómoda y aprovechamos mucho la pileta y la parrilla. El barrio es muy tranquilo pero seguro y se puede ir caminando al centro. La Barra es uno de los lugares más lindos de Punta del Este.

Wonderful stay at La Barra

We spent 5 days and our stay there was very pleasant. Everything was perfect : welcome, advices, house decoration and services, location, outdoor area. It has everything you need and for sure you will also want to stay longer! I have to give 10 stars to Mauricio, he was very kind and helpful, he made our stay very memorable. The internet works perfectly, which is a plus if you also have to work a little bit! The house is very comfortable and still huge enought for 6 people :) The parking has plenty of place, that was great for us that got there in different cars. The beach is very reachable by foot and also the city center was very near by, so you do not need to go by car. I loved waking up early in the morning and be welcomed by a beautiful sunrise at the beach. Priceless! Will definitely go back so we can enjoy the pool in summer season! The pool area is great for chilling out. The neighbourhood is very quiet which helps you to relax.

Cute House! Great hosts!

We had a fantastic time in this property. My husband and I went with 2 friends for NYE and had a fabulous week. Mauricio and Mariela were extremely friendly and helpful. The house is very well maintained and has absolutely everything you need. While La Barra is young (very young 18yr olds) the location was excellent and allowed us to come and go from Jose Igancio and downtown as we pleased. We had an issue with the safe and Mariela fixed it within the same day. The pool and outdoor area is fantastic and we really enjoyed the BBQ. We highly recommend this property.

La Barra house

I rented the house for 3 weeks in February, 2014. It could be great, but I found the property badly maintained and therefore not very comfortable. As a minor example, the outdoor furniture has no covers, so the cushions were always wet due to high humidity, rain etc., so we could not use them. Wood decking by pool and front porch is coming up and is unsightly and dangerous - baby ants on kitchen counter, etc. - among other things. House advertises a coffee grinder and dishwasher. There is no dishwasher and the coffee grinder is a little hand grinder, more for show since it would take forever to grind enough coffee for one pot of coffee. The owner is responsive. If the house were to be properly maintained, it could be great.

Good location description

Review of Stay in La Barra summer 2012

My wife and I stayed at this house en el tesoro in La barra between march 4th and 17th. The house is charming, it is clean and well kept. The rental rate was very reasonable, certainly compaired to the rates in Brazil in trendy beach locations such as Praia do Rosa or compared to Miami where we normally would have stayed. On top of that, most of the places in Brazil are also not safe, whereas this beach resort is very safe (+ house located near police station). We visited the whole area by bike and by car (Punta is quite big and consists of several towns) but at the end of the day, the best place to stay is La barra. The house has an alarm system and it was just painted in white. Mariela guided us through the neighbourhoud and did the check-in and check-out. We had a small problem in the kitchen (water heater) but it was rapidly resolved. My final word is that this was a good rental and that Uruguay is a unique experience (but expensive flights from Europe...). regards, Tobias - Berlin

Awesome house in the heart of Punta del Este!

The house is impeccable. The mattresses and pillows are same as any top hotel. Plenty of new towels, bathrooms are super new, hot water flows just 10 secs after opening the faucet, the kitchen is super equipped, there are plenty of adapters for every imaginable electric plugs, lighting fixtures are great.. You can tell this house has been refurbished and is top notch as soon as you walk in the first time! Trust me on this, I'm from Argentina and you don't find easily, places to rent in such great conditions around here. Just 2 or 3 blocks away is the trendiest street and beach of Punta del Este, and although it gets super busy, the house is located on a very quiet street. My family and I had a great time, thank you so much, we'll be back for sure!!

Our Stay in November 2011 (1 week)

In general, we had a very good time in Uruguay. Quality of life seems to be higher than the one in some countries in Europe. We used to go to Spain, Portugal and Croatia. The house was just painted in white and it was well maintained. It is equipped with everything that we needed and the internet is fast. Very clean and modern furniture. In short, a very good experience although some places were closed in Punta and in the other beach towns. Might be better to go the first week of december. Guillaume & Charlotte

Holiday rental in the la barra town

We had a great time at Punta. The place was very cozy and located in a good neighborhood in La barra. Mariella, the house manager was very kind. Lovely Completely Renovated House in La Barra Near the Clubs

Very well appointed - especially for the greater Punta area - with super aircon in every single room (almost unbelievable at any price in this area) and what I swear must be the fastest Wifi in Uruguay. Fabulous pool area. Very comfortable beds, high quality linens.. Completely appointed with paradilla, all kitchen utensils, 2 portable beach chairs and umbrella, etc so both dining in and trips to the beach are very easy. Up to date televisions in every room, iPod players, etc. Fabulous property manager in Mariela, who has lived in the States and therefore speaks perfect English. Owner Hendrik and agent Mauricio are very responsive, and send a very helpful welcome guide for those who do not know LaBarra well upon contracting. Whomever wrote this house is not as "fancy" as viewed in the pictures has, I suspect, not spent much time leasing in the greater Punta area (or if so, has spent at least triple in rent!). Compares very favourably with similar rentals in the same and slightly higher price ranges for high season. Please note if you are not familiar with the area, and are older or wish to take advantage of all the Punta area has to offer, you will want a vehicle in my opinion. Contrary to entries on travel blogs, vehicles are very easy to lease and drive in Uruguay and this house is amazingly well situated for trips into Punta proper and out to Jose Ignacio - yet another huge advantage as compared with other properties.

Beautiful home in La Barra

My husband and I, with our two grown kids, loved our time at his beautiful home. It was exactly as shown online. The private pool in the backyard was so welcoming at the end of a long day. Mariela, the property manager is wonderful. She goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need. She also speaks perfect English which a big help to us. This is one of the best equipped homes we have ever stayed at. Our only complaint was that we could not stay there longer. We highly recommend this home.

Little Gem

I stayed at this property with my teenage daughter and her friend for the Punta high season. The location is excellent for teenagers as most clubs are in the vicinity whilst the set back location makes it quiet as well. It is within easy reach of the surrounding beaches and one can easily walk to many restaurants, ice cream parlours and shops on the main strip. It is well furnished, clean and it includes air conditioning which is a must. Teh heated pool was also great to have and evening swimming was made special by this and the candles around the pool. Life was made easier by the wireless internet connection and cable TV. There were also iPod speakers. For those who like to have b-bqs, there is an outside built-in one which made gatherings fun and relaxed. Whilst a good size, the house is not as large (nor as fancy) as it looks on the pictures, though, although it didn't bother us. Any needs we had were attended to promptly by the super friendly Mariela as well.

Great vacation home!!

Everything was wonderful!!!!!!!!! The house is great and so comfortable!! Location is perfect, specially if you travel with teenagers in summer who meet nearby at the Ancap gas station!! Our stay in La barra house

I was lucky to find this house...the pick-up was well organized and i was sent a welcome guide before my stay; The house is quite new and confortable. The beds are king size and very soft. We liked the BBQ and a there is a nice pool. We also liked the “cosyness” of the garden. Before going we didn’t know where to go but La Barra is a quite and safe place to stay in Uruguay. The Police station was around the corner and there is an alarm system. The better restaurants are just walking distance from this house and we often had an “apero” in the village. We rented bikes and visited the Punta Del Este town. Please don´t forgot to try Freddo ice cream, it´s a must !!! Next year we will go to Colombia or Costa Rica but Punta del este is a fine destination. Thank you Hendrik for the nice organization and we will keep in touch ;) Justin B.

Why they chose this property

Punta is the place to be in South America if you enjoy beaches, delicious food, interesting people and security.

Punta del Este's summer scene is often compared to St. Tropez or Cannes in France and the Hamptons in the US.

Basically, there are 3 prime locations: the Peninsula, La Barra and Jose Ignacio.

La Barra offers many advantages such as its walkability, seaside village charm, coastal vistas and surf and accessibility to resources for 'true living.' (see above, i.e. bars, restaurants, 'tiendas',...)
