Stay at Santa Fe House Captiva

Had a fantastic time! The home was lovely and well appointed. It was a great vacation for all the generations in the family.

Great location on Captiva Island

The two homes on the property really served the needs of our group and allowed people to spread out. We loved the location and ability to walk from the house out to the beach. We enjoyed the backyard pool and spa/hot tub. We found the beds/mattresses to be comfortable and of good quality (important to us because we’ve rented from other houses before that send our backs to the doctor/chiropractor-not fun). Other reviewers have noted the decor is dated. While you can tell the house was built in the 80’s and hasn’t really been updated since then, we rented the house for the location and ability to handle our group size, not for the interior decorating. The pictures do not show the updated kitchen counters in the main house (when we rented the tile had been replaced with granite). The size of all the tables in the main house allowed our group to eat together at one table. The outdoor furniture allowed everyone to spread out comfortably. The property manager, Royal Shell, was responsive when we found (at check in) that the faucet in one of the bathrooms would not shut off and the hot water handle on the bathtub of that same bathroom was stripped and we couldn’t get hot water out of it. They had a plumber in the next working day. The only question we had about this is why was it not discovered by anyone else (the cleaners, Royal Shell employees, etc.) and fixed sooner? Overall we were happy with our stay.

Santa fe

Property was great but was disappointed in welcoming kit. Basic kitchen items such as salt and pepper and coffee filters should have been provided. Also with the cost of the rental I would have expected better quality of soap, etc

Amazing beach!

You could not ask for a more amazing beach just outside of the Santa Fe! Beautiful sand, shells, marine life and privacy like no other place we have stayed. We are two families that vacation together almost every year. The house is large and did accommodate all 14 of us. There are more bathrooms than listed in the description and thank goodness because that was a concern when we booked. However, one of the bathrooms only contains a tub (no shower) so we were sharing other showers throughout the house. Two master bedrooms face the ocean but one of those rooms contains a queen bed and the 3rd bedroom (does not face the ocean) contains a king bed. Would have been nice if the beds were flipped as children got to enjoy the king bed instead of the adults. The only other issue is that the kitchen is in need of updates. Didn't care that the counters were not granite or that the appliances were not stainless steel. However, the oven that is there took almost 3 hours to cook mac-n-cheese that should have been done in 50 minutes. Some burners worked with very inconsistent temperatures and others did not work at all. We had to run the dishwasher through twice for the dishes to be cleaned and just figured it was easier to wash by hand which was a lot for 14 people. With all of this being said, we actually have plans to return to the Santa Fe next year and would recommend this home!!
