Our grandkids (all over 18) enjoyed the hot tub and pool and having the beach so close. All of the rooms were very spacious and comfortable. We all enjoyed the front porch as well - it was our meeting place in the mornings to get the day started. Captiva in general is so lovely. We walked everyday, ate at all of the wonderful restaurants and only got in our cars maybe 3 or 4 times for supplies, etc. Thanks for letting us spend this week in your home - it was a dream!
The location is great for the small town area, ice cream, restaurants, etc … the problem comes in details… broken toilets, door knobs about to fall off, kitchen drawers with gaps due to poor quality. .. the walk to the beach is a little long but not the end of the world and the 7a nail gun construction hammering is not a joy to experience..

There is construction on the island due to devastating storms that happened. The island is still in recovery.
The guest contacted the management company for clogged toilet and the plumbing was cleared with a plunger. Not a typical problem, but unexpected issues come up and that is why we provide 24x7 management on island to ensure even the smallest issues are handled.
Due to beach enrichment programs, the shoreline has been expanded by approx 60-100ft. This will indeed increase the walking distance. Be prepared for the potential extra 100ft.
This house is on the same block as the beach. Easily walkable to all shops and restaurants in captiva. A well layes out house for families or a large group. Well stocked kitchen and a great screened in porch area that is very large.
Had minor problems with one washer, one toilet and the smoke alarm going off but the maintenance crew rectified immediately.
It’s a beautiful home and property.
The location really gave everyone safe access to what they needed and enjoyed; teens could ride bikes to shops, ice cream, stores, starbucks, etc. 2 year olds could play in the calm gulf water, adults could dine by walk and enjoy drinks and sunsets, and everyone could hang out by the pool...market right around the corner; really good stuff. Charter captain picked us up (thanks Cap'n Spangler) at the Green Flash dock and we caught two full meals, and Captiva Cruises gave a great shelling day....Best Family Week!
We had such a wonderful time at Captiva Star! When we arrived, we were beyond impressed with the location. Just steps from local restaurants, shops and grocery store. And just a very short walk down the block to the beach. Quiet location, easy to access all things Captiva and wonderful layout. The home was clean, the management company was responsive, the pool was well maintained, the kitchen was SUPER stocked with everything you could need. We were a family of 12 people, grandparents, parents and kids. Ages were 10-68. Dog came too and he loved it as well! We ate 90% of our meals at home, and the rest at the local spots in town. We were poolside everyday and used the home to the fullest. I would definitely recommend staying here to my friends and family!
This is our second time staying at the property and it’s been perfect both times. Very spacious, amazing location, comes stocked with a lot of things which makes packing much easier. Very clean as well.
Appliances need some work. The oven only had one rack. Hard to make a meal for every one. The rusty refrigerator had no ice maker. The washer and dryer needed servicing - especially cleaning out dryer vent. After over 2 hours, some towels never dried. Fire hazard. Would help if some of the lights had labels. Location was great. Lots of pots and pans and utensils. Perhaps add more coffee mugs. Try adding mattress toppers to beds. Water pressure upstairs was weak. We'll be looking for a place for next year.
Plenty of room. Within walking distance of evrything. VERY clean!! Enough room that we never felt like we were in eaxh other's space. Even with 10 people in the house!
We visited Captiva Star for my son's senior high school spring break. We had three families with us, and there was plenty of room for all!! The property is extremely spacious and perfectly clean. The absolute best part, however, is the location. It is just a short, few minute, walk down a sandy road to the beach. In the other direction, there are all the quaint restaurants and shops of Captiva. You don't even need a car if staying here! You can literally rent bikes around the block, and there is a small grocery store right behind the house.
For the house itself, we absolutely loved the pool and hot tub! Make sure you read the directions on the controls, because it took us a couple days to figure out how to keep the temperature where we wanted it. The kitchen was completely open and well stocked for a large group. The bedrooms were also very spacious, and the best part is there are several day beds with trundles, so you have a lot of flexibility in your sleeping configuration. We played games on the spacious screen porch every night. We also enjoyed the second refrigerator, which we stocked with beverages for use by the pool and pool bar. We even used the Weber grill, which was ready with gas!
The house is well stocked with beach towels and chairs, so you don't really need to bring anything with you. Another review mentioned bikes; our house didn't come with them. But you can rent them around the corner very inexpensively - I think $7/day.
My feedback for the owner would be to add trash cans in every bedroom and put more solid curtains on the queen bedroom on the main floor. I did feel a tiny bit exposed when dressing in that room, since there are sheers on the doors to the porch and the hallway. These are minor complaints, obviously. Overall we had a fantastic time and hope to visit again!!! Five stars!!!!!
The proximity of the house to the town and beach was excellent. The bikes, beach wagons, towels and beach chairs provided were a nice touch! Our time was filled with days at the beach and riding the bikes down was fun! The large porch was excellent. We ate on the porch nightly and played family games there. The large dining table allowed for ample indoor seating., as well. There are some aspects of the hide that didn’t match what was expected. The house has two laundry facilities, which we were looking forward to using, yet one of the dryers kept tripping the breaker. The pool was not heated upon our arrival. Some of the beds are in need of repairs and possibly replaced. We were unable to get the cable to work in three of the bedrooms. Because of COVID and the over crowded restaurants, we chose to eat in. The oven had only one rack and the stove top didn’t operate fully. Compared to some of the other rentals in the area and rental charges, this house did not fully meet what was promised.
Very large and comfortable home with enough beds and baths for a large group. We wish we had brought more people along! Massive screened in porch is surrounded by lush tropical trees and plants making it feel like you are in a tree house. Several tables and seating areas makes it ideal for a safe outdoor meals (during pandemic). Modern open kitchen that is well-equipped for cooking and entertaining opens to a spacious dining and living area. We enjoyed the pool, spa and bikes. Also, beach visits were easy as the house has two carts, a cooler, boogie boards and beach chairs--as well as bikes! We went to the beach everyday to enjoy the shelling, swimming and amazing sunsets.
This large home was perfect for our family. The hot tub was used, the pool was used. The walk to the beach is very serene because the road is so quaint with all the trees and vegetation on the unpaved road.
We had a golf cart but the location was within walking distance to anything you would need.
We had a great time at the house in Captiva! The location is ideal, just down the street from the beach and around the corner from restaurants and shopping. We rented a golf cart for the week to make trips to the store more exciting but could have easily walked everywhere. The house was very well equipped, we joked at one point that it had two of everything (even a 2nd refrigerator downstairs) and cooking and eating dinner as a big group was a cinch. The porch was great for evenings and there was a wide array of beach toys and chairs.
The property was convenient to everything on the island. Had more than enough kitchen appliances. The pool was clean and refreshing. The property had plenty of space for the 12 of us.
House was better in person then in pictures. Much too big for our family of 5 but we totally enjoyed it. Clean. Great location. Well stocked kitchen and beach supplies. Thank you.
House needed some tlc and a good deep cleaning. It had some broken lights outside and other broken items and burned out lights. House was great for large family and comfortable. Would have been nice to have more detail on items that were in the home, for example, hair dryers, beach towels.

Nice home
Carpet in family room is dangerous with curled ends that you trip on.
Beach furnishing are old and broken. Need more and better umbrellas and chairs.

Great house for a family vacation
This house was perfect for our family. We have 5 adult children, two son-in-laws and one grandchild. It was close to the beach and to restaurants. We enjoyed the heated pool and jacuzzi. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, silverware and small appliances. We loved the large screened in front porch with tables, chairs, sofa. It was perfect for our toddler to play with her toys before the rest of the family woke up. The second refrigerator downstairs came in handy. There are beach chairs, umbrellas, carts, and beach toys. The area is very family oriented. We had a very nice Thanksgiving vacation here.

Beautiful spacious home. Very well appointed and well maintained. Far roomier than we had imagined
Outstanding location, easy walks to beach and local amenities. Captiva was much prettier than we had hoped and the property is perfect for larger family or gathering of friends.

About the host

I grew up in Fort Myers, and spent summers on Sanibel/Captiva. We have owned a condo on Sanibel for 10 years, and have been looking for the perfect home for our family on Captiva.
Why they chose this property
This house is perfect for our family of 6. Our children are all still home, but looking to the future, we wanted a place where the families could gather . This home is very large, and is perfect for 5 couples with small children.
What makes this property unique
The outside living space is what sold us before we even entered the home. The screened porch is a perfect place to sit and relax. It is large enough for everyone to gather without feeling crammed. Being screened in, the bugs won't be a problem either!
There is enough parking on the property for 6 cars, which is another unique feature of this property.
