NEWLY CONSTRUCTED IN Jan'23, BearsDen Lodge is our families vacation home. We just completed our project & we are so excited about the years to come in the beautiful north woods of Maine - "the way life should be". If you like the outdoors this cabin has it all, including a fire pit with a breathtaking view of Mt. Katahdin on the shores of Lake Millinocket. As a bonus we offer several kayaks for our guests to use during their stay. We are a 3-minute walk to the NEOC and all they have to offer...

The Bear's Den Lodge is an absolutely gorgeous home with a breathtaking view of Mt. Katahdin. The pictures on the website do not do it justice! We had some family members join us for a few days of our stay, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The location might be a little remote for some people, but we enjoyed the proximity to Baxter State Park and the general North Woods area. Having the two restaurants associated with the New England Outdoor Center- River Driver's Restaurant and Knife Edge Brewery (both highly recommended)- was extremely handy, and the little store up the street, Golden Road Crossing, had the best sandwiches to pack up for a day of exploring.Gene and his wife, the next-door neighbors and caretakers, were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed meeting them.Mark, the host, was very easy to communicate with and very concerned that we arrived safely and all went well. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us, Mark, and we hope to be back some day.
We traveled to Millinocket to visit with cousins for 4th of July holiday. We enjoyed fishing and kayaking on Millinocket Lake. Appalachian Trail Cafe for breakfast and donuts! Fredericka's for dinner, which was excellent by everyone's reviews. BearsDen Lodge is at a beautiful location, with great views of MT. Katahdin. We had ample room for all 8 of us. Gene is a very hospitable caretaker with a great sense of humor. Very attentive to our needs. Thank you for the great stay.
Lovely property. Excellent view. Heat Pump in Living room provides amazing cooling. Caretaker Gene is super helpful. We used kayaks. 3 season room is great in the morning and evening. Many board games for families. Very clean house and well equipped kitchen.
Great location with breathtaking views and direct lake access!
It was a great stay! The house was just spotless and the caretaker lives right next door; both he and his wife were just lovely! The owner regularly communicated with us. House was lake front with stunning views of Mt Katahdin! Everything was a convenient walk, driving or snowmobiling. We are looking forward to our return trip this summer!
Awesome host. Mark was always available and always responded quickly. The cabin was comfortable and accommodating. We’re already looking forward to our next stay!
We’ve been vacationing in Maine for over 25 years. This is our second time at this property. Love everything about it!! Location is ideal, people are great, host is easily accessible, but everything is taken care of, so no need. Plenty of kayaks and canoes to use and a nice dock. Really couldn’t ask for more!! Dog friendly is also a huge plus!!
Very beautiful place with all the amenities (AC, fireplace, spacious, laundry, etc.). Close to the Baxter entrance, and the local stores. A two minute walk from New England Outdoor Center. Would definitely rent it again!
A great secluded house in a beautiful setting. I hope to return in the summer to experience the lake when it isn’t frozen. The addition of Knife Edge Brewing just up the road is a great enhancer. Would absolutely return.
10/10! This spot was perfect for our family trip with two little ones and the grandparents. The view is incredible. The water front is perfect for hanging and playing with the water with little ones. Our eldest, 3, enjoyed catching fish off the dock. Walking to NEOC for dinner and trails, brewery 10 minutes away, and just south of Baxter State Park he golden road network.
We needed a large space to accommodate 12 adults while traveling back to my hometown of Millinocket to attend my dad's funeral service. It was the perfect spot to land at the end of a long day. We were able to gather as a family, laugh together, cry together and share in the many wonderful memories together. All while hanging inside around the large island or sitting by the fire outside. So peaceful and the views of Katahdin were AMAZING!
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house. The view is amazing. The home owner is very responsive and easy to communicate with. Lack of snow was disappointing for those who snowmobile but ice fishing right out the door was perfect. We would rent this house again.
Beautiful views of Mt Katahdin and right on the lake. Wonderful neighbor, Gene, full of knowledge of the area, as he has lived in the area for over 80 years! He even had the outdoor fire pit all set up to just light and enjoy when we arrived, he made our trip :)
This cabin is awesome. Love, love, love the kitchen! The bedrooms were very nice - we only used the 2 on the main floor, but the upstairs would have been great for kids or just more people! The view was to die for and we all loved sitting by the fire pit. The caretaker Gene was great. He set up fires for us on 2 different nights. Mark was very easy to work with, and wanted to make everything as perfect as possible. The location was great, with 3 restaurants very close (we walked to one), and close to the park (we saw a moose). If we ever come back to Maine - we will be staying here!
Our group very much enjoyed our short stay at the well appointed and cozy Bears Den Lodge. We had just a little bit of time to appreciate the spectacular views of Mount Katahdin across the waters of Lake Millinocket, and paddle the waters of the lake with the kayaks included with the rental, before clouds and a bit of rain moved in. Well, this is Maine after all.
We did pedal small sections of the mountain bike trail system that is practically right outside the door - really an amazing collection of trails, according to my much more experienced mountain bike friends.
Despite the turn in the weather we enjoyed a fire in the outside firepit, and delicious meals and good conversation around the expansive island seating counter in the kitchen.
We are already talking together about a return trip to actually make our way up to the Knife Edge. We'd love to come back.
