About the host
Hosted by Eric

Hi, we are Chelsea, Eric, and Cole. This is our only home, right in Puerto Jimenez, but we find ourselves spending more and more time in the United States with aging parents, so we've decided to try renting out our house. We are both teachers, and we saved and re-founded the library in town, and established the community center, which Chelsea directs, and is worth a visit if you want to understand what local life is like.
We don't have a car and go everywhere by bike. People born and raised here joke that we know more about this place than anyone else, because of how intensely we've explored by bike, kayak, and foot. I can honestly say there's not a better guide to local adventures than Eric, who knows the secret snorkeling spots, where to fish a roosterfish from the beach, and where to have a mountainbike ride you'll never forget. We can provide you with all this info, if interested.
We'll also make a small statement about our library and community center project. They are free for all, and provide children with education and books they don't get from the underfunded and often closed public schools in the area. We have 7000 titles, art classes, english classes, a Montessori style play space, and we host a couple of the biggest cultural events in town -- Earth Day and Kids Day festivals. We really encourage you to visit the project --it's on the main street across from the soccer field, just a few minutes from the property. It is a very special place, a labor of love, and we hope it touches your heart and inspires you.

What makes this property unique
There is no other home in town like ours. Most people in town live in smaller houses that are purely functional. Most of the ex-pats live out of town, and so houses in which most Americans or Europeans would feel comfortable are few and far between in Jimenez, if they exist at all outside of our own. Despite the fact most ex-pats live out in Matapalo, we love our life in town, where we are part of the community, and where there's an incredible diversity of activities, from kayaking to mangrove exploring to fishing to cultural events -- honestly more than out in Matapalo, where surfing predominates. There is so much more to this area than Corcovado and the surf spots, and being in town is really the ideal place to set out to the greatest variety of adventures.
