About the host
Hosted by Michelle Large
I came to Costa Rica during college and fell in love with Matapalo. I came for the surfing and stayed for the nature. I love to travel and see new places. You will most likely find me outside or when in a city… probably in a yoga studio.
Why they chose this property
I chose the carbonera neighborhood because it was the closest property I could afford at the time with walking distance to all of the surf waves here. It was also close to all of my friends and the mouth of the Carbonera River, which is a magical place in itself.
What makes this property unique
I planted almost every plant and tree on this property. Well at least I told someone where to plant it. Haha. I designed all of the gardens. I was heavily influenced by permaculture in my early years and have always loved the idea of food forests. This property is not only ornamental but edible and medicinal.
